This week’s ScoutCast episode reminds us that there really is life outside of Fantasy Football.

Like the pursuit of the “most consecutive hours spent in one building” for instance, or perhaps the “most impressive eating feat”. Both are key events, alongside Fantasy Premier League ranking, in an annual set of “Bloke Olympics” revealed courtesy of this week’s rather different “Full Jonty”. Our friend in the community brings an extraordinary tale of a top Fantasy manager who runs his life like an achievement list – not to be missed.

Around that, we find time to pop in on an off-colour Professor, welcome Mr Moyes to Old Trafford and discuss the options presented by the Michu fallout.

Take your place amongst the medals via this link or polish your Olympic rings via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Biggest benching headache of the season - I dare you to try:

    Hart (fed) - no issues.
Gj (ful), kompany (rdg), vertongen (stk) Sagna (WIG) ... And Davies who will easily be on the bench

I dare you to bench one of the above. What? You say play all four? Sure.., then bench two below:

    Mata lampard Walcott bale Fellaini
    Tevez Sturridge kone

Jeez I'm in trouble... Help? Please bench two besides Davies.

So kone is agreed I see, but still question marks over defence?
I'm afraid of mata cameo and Wigan fight to the death, so thought of playing kone and benching Sagna and mata... Make any sense?

    Question on FF site:

Of the 2m+ players how many would you say are still active teams and not ghost teams that have long been left to rot?

Was just trying to assess my 'true rank' based on players left and a ball park figure would be nice?say 70% of teams still active,or too high?

Kone (ars) Defoe (stk) Tevez (rdg)

    A) Sturridge in for Defoe (after Adebayor's performance Defoe could remain on the bench)
    B) Fellaini in for Michu
    C) Sturridge & Fellaini in for Defoe and Michu (-4 pts hit)
    D) Any other suggestions

If Hazard misses out through injury, Scharner would sub in, and Fellaini could be worth a 4 pt hit if this is the case. However, Fellaini plays Chelsea away next week so he'd be on my bench, so I'm wondering if it's worth a hit to just bring him in for this week. He isn't guaranteed to make up 4 pts on Scharner, plus there's a decent chance Hazard plays anyway. So I'm leaning towards A.

I'm 3 points behind my ML leader who has Fellaini. Don't know if I wanna make it 7 pts before the GW even starts.

he's never won anything because he was the manager of Everton...

English football has been dominated by 4/5 teams for the last 15 years. Everton somehow were always up there with those guys competeing though with a miniscule budget comparatively...remarkable job by Moyes.

Higher profile? Fellaini is higher profile than Phil Jones or Welbeck

large budget? it's not just the manager that splashes the cash, lots of people involved...scouts...the board...even Fergie still as director...he'll have a lot of help in that regard....plus he's been shrewd in the transfer market before and bought some gems

United fan here. I much prefer him to Mourinho. Reasons.

      - Mourinho would bring a huge change at the club in terms of staff overhaul/policy overhaul.
      - Moyes blends in more with United's policy of focusing on youth et al. Plus he will put Man Utd first and will care about the club. Don't think i can say the same about Jose.
      - He's a good man manager, has control of the dressing room and traits very similar to Fergie. Tactically, he's good too.
      - The not won anything question, how realistic a chance does one have at winning anything if not in the top 4. He converted Everton from a relagation fighting team to an established top 6 team.
      - I am being a tad optimistic here, and this is a gamble. But the right one imo. Its in the nature of the club to give someone who has paid his dues a chance. He deserves it and will have my 100% backing.
      - A great eye in the transfer market.
      - Cliched, but stability breeds success, and out of the current lots, David is our best shot at stability.

The simple answer is we don't know. We don't know how he will go managing a big club. If we got someone like Mourinho we would be confident of further success as he's been there and done it. With Moyes we just don't know. He got the job for his management abilities so the board would have to be very confident Moyes is capable despite having never seen him given the opportunity to chase for titles.

Poor blokes on a hiding to nothing. Only way he will avoid slaughter in the press and by fans is to win the title in each of his first 3 seasons at least, adn chuck in a Champions League. Everything he does will be compared to Fergie. On the plus side for him, he's coming into a relatively settled squad wihtout major rebuilding work to be done, and not forgetting he's just landed one fo the best jobs in the game and is reputedly being very well rewarded for it.

Personally I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed, but a 6 year contract suggests the club have faith in him. He's put in enough hard work to deserve the chance to succeeed.

I think it's an odd appointment. Man United are one of THE elite clubs, they should look to get THE best. Be that players, managers, coaches, etc. Moyes is good, yes, but is he one of the best managers around? I don't really think so.

Managing Everton is one thing. Man United is a completely different animal. How will he cope with the big names, the big games, Champions League, etc. Is Moyes a name that big players from elsewhere will want to come to Man United to play for?

He may do very well, but I just think it's a big ol' gamble.

He will cope with the big names by putting them in their place...just like Fergie...Fergie took no crap, why would Moyes take any crap? Big games? He's the longest serving manager next to Wenger and Fergie...I think he knows a thing or two about big games!

Champions league...yes no experience...YET. You cannot get experience without getting experience. They are giving him the job because they believe he is the finest young British manager around (instead of a journeyman like Mourinho).

It really isn't all that odd. The idea that someone else is more elite in this situation is ludicrous...imagine saying that when Fergie first took the job...they would have made a big mistake because man utd were not elite...they had to become that...Man utd will have to be reborn under Moyes...but that is part of life...things cannot last forever.

Fergie could put the players in their place because he was all powerful there. If you think the players will be as fearful of getting on the wrong side of Moyes as they were Fergie you're kidding yourself.

Big games. What's the stat, 45+(?) away games to the 'big four' without a win. That's absolutely awful, whatever way you look at it. A 'journeyman' (LOL) like Mourinho? Who would a big name player from afar be lured by more, Moyes or Mourinho? I think the name Mourinho rings a liiiittle bit louder. Add to the fact he has experience in the big games already as he's pretty much won all there is to win. It is a gamble.

they just conceded 3 to swansea! and they've conceded 2 or more goals in each of their last 4 games. not to mention their defensive record against bigger sides is pretty poor

          goals conceded:

          CHE 2
          mun 4
          tot 0
          liv 3
          mci 2
          ARS 1
          MUN 4
          che 4

Yep I know Wigan's defence isn't great but equally Arsenal's attack has been poor. Still the althernatives play City and United so I have little choice here. Taking a punt on a game Wigan will be desperate in could be profitable

Hmmm...Coutinho.. Milanista has me interested in Lamps and then there's the potential of Caz at home to Wig.

      Nasri->Lamps/Caz.

      May as well sub Lukaku.

As long as we beat those low lifes across the Tazzy, that's all I care about.

Its close, they are ahead by a couple of points. We've used our FT but I'm really not confident we'll see a return on the hit. Maloney could be a decent sub if a player doesn't start.

Yeah I wouldn't bother with hits at this time of the year unless you are certain of good returns.

RVP captain or Wally. I'm keen to play 2 Wigan defenders so that kind of conflicts with putting the armband on Wally, we need to maximise points.

I see the Captain Poll is close this week. Three main candidates...

    Bale
    Walcott
    RVP

Which is the best option, and why?

I'm going for Theo. But if I still had RVP, it would be him for sure. Fergie's farewell game - he'll play a strong squad. Rooney is seemingly out of favor so RVP could possibly hog all of the attacking points again.

A lot of people are debating between Theo and RVP, including myself, but it will probably be Bale that scores the most points again, despite the blank against Chelsea

Got 3x crocked / doubtful MF players , would you do -8 points and play 3-5-2:

    DDG / Fed
    Clichy / Vert / Sagna / Martin / Demel
    Bale / Caz / Hazard / Michu / Schneiderlin
    Lukaku / Defoe / Tevez

    A) Haz, Michu, Schneid to Walcott. Lampard. Coutinho

    B) Haz, Michu, Schneid to Walcott, Lampard, Fellaini

Would you make any transfers with this lot below? I fear rotation could scupper me...

    DDG
    Baines Dawson Sagna
    Mata Bale(c) Wally Pienaar
    Aguero Tevez(vc) Lukaku
    Subs: Robles Maloney Rafa Turner
    1FT, £0.4m

I planned to save the FT and do Baines+Lukaku>Kompany+Studge next week, but Rafa and Turner out means only one fit sub...I'm chasing a 6pt gap in my ML; would you stick or use the transfer?

I don't understand why there is interest in Neil Lennon for Everton. It seems English chairmen never learn that it is highly unlikely they will find another fergie up here. Especially with the time given to new managers.
