We’re down to the semi-final stage of the first ever Fantasy Football Scout shield tournament, as four of the community’s top Fantasy managers go head-to-head in one last bid for glory.

This year’s Members Cup runner-up, Eunuch Jelly, is on a collision course with an old adversary as he progressed to the final four, along with Acquafresca – the victorious manager in that final. The Jellyman saw off Giavara555 by a ten-point margin in the last eight to record the second highest Gameweek score in the tournament thanks, in no short measure, to Joe Hart’s 15 point haul. Giavara555’s 12-point hit failed to come off and the former Fantasy Premier League number one was toppled.

Acquafresca’s incredible run of cup form continued with a 5-point victory over “Ricky Smokes Lets Go”. The latter decided against a points hit and that may well have been a deciding factor, along with Eden Hazard’s double Gameweek failure. Acquafresca prevailed, with a solid Gameweek helping him climb to 508 in the FPL rankings.

He will meet MrKK in the semis after his hugely impressive 93-point tally eased him past MileHigh in the Quarters. Now up to 607 in the world, the tussle with Acquafresca will surely be keenly contested. MileHigh can find ample consolation for his defeat from a superb current rank of 53, despite falling ten places in Gameweek 36.

The final tie was just as one-sided, with former Cup winner, Fuzzy Dunlop, demolishing “Tommy Tynan’s Left Shin Pad” by a 17-point margin. His 78 points helped Fuzzy climb to 2025 in the FPL rankings and he will now approach his semi with Eunuch Jelly with some confidence, despite being the lowest ranked manager remaining in the tournament.

Ties will be played over Gameweek 37, leaving the final Gameweek to decide our winner.

Quarter-Final Results

Lots of returning intrigue and simmering excitement surrounding the potential return of Michu. I've hovered over this a bit earlier but is there anything to warrant the new found attention?
He won't be fully fit, he's playing a Utd side who are going to want to put on a footballing version of Mama Mia for their maestro, and Michu has scored 1 away goal since 1st December, against Norwich no less, the same team he scored twice against at home. A three wheeled bandwagon or something/someone really worth a go?

        Sturridge or Podolski for Defoe

        Fellaini for Michu

Since Michu now looks like he'll be back next week, I'm 99% sure I'm gonna take out Defoe rather. And I'm leaning towards Sturridge over Podolski due to his certainty of starting. Plus he could be on pens!

Cheers mate :). This transfer is for GW37 and 38. If it were for this week alone, I'd probably go with Podolski, but for this week and next week I'm leaning towards Sturridge. Do you not think Sturridge will get more points over the 2 weeks?

Sturridge vs Fulham away and QPR home (mid table and already relegated)
Podolski vs Wigan home and Newcastle away (both fighting for survival)

And Sturridge is more guaranteed to start (and at centre forward), and he could be on pens?

    Random Thot

If Baines comes along with Moyes to United, cant he just deploy him as a left winger ahead of Evra (or Buttner). That way Evra and Baines can play together.

On current form, Baines is definitely better than any one on that left wing in the United ranks right now (bar Giggsy who plays more centrally now anyways)

It has been discussed at length before whether or not Baines can play as a left winger and the overwhelming consensus is NO. There's a LOT more to being a winger than being able to whip in a barrage of crosses.

This. Baines needs the dummy in front of him to overlap (or underlap) - he's not particularly one for taking on a man one on one as a winger would do. He's not even that quick really and he's only going to lose that pace as he gets older now.

Scholes to blame for Ruddy absence!

"Hughton has decided to recall the goalkeeper John Ruddy to his starting line-up [...]Ruddy enjoyed the early season, when he made his England debut against Italy and won praise for his form, but everything changed when he ruptured his thigh at Everton on 24 November. The previous week, Manchester United's Paul Scholes had caught him hard on the knee and it it believed that this played a part in weakening the leg. Although Ruddy has been back to fitness since the early part of last month, Hughton has persisted with Mark Bunn. But that is set to change and Ruddy intends to embrace the opportunity."

I think that's your strongest 11. Clichy may get rested, so Sagna would come in. Clichy's highly unlikely to get a cameo appearance from the bench so it's safe.

Considering Wigan are gonna go for it, they probably will score. So I'm leaning towards Maloney over Sagna as well.

Why Wally (c) might I ask? I think I'm going for Bale 😀

Afternoon chaps. Team FTW after 1 freebie (Michu > Lamps):

    Hart
    Clichy Sagna Dawson
    Lamps Bale Walcott Hazard
    RVP Berbs Tevez

    (Bunn / Maloney / Wilson / Davies)

Thoughts? Maloney can come on to cover Tevez or Hazard no-shows. Don't really want to take a hit.

Will Aguero play Tuesday? If not likely should i (C) Coutinho, Bale, Cazza or Lampard?

I'd guess that he'll play in the cup final, benched on Tuesday.

      Bale or Lampard for me.

Lampard looks tempting, but Villa may still prove tough opposition, Bale seems a decent option but it's still Stoke at the Brittania.

I am top of 2 mini leagues but the gap is closing. I'm chasing 3 others.

    Most people have RVP.
    I don't.
    I have Tevez & Aguero.
RVP in for a hit for Aguero?

I am thinking of playing 4 at the back this week. The players I'm considering are:

Debuchy ( QPR) Garrido (WBA) Johnson (FUL) Ivanovic (AVL)

    bench: Kone, puncheon, Davies.

so really I'm asking if I should play those 4 at the back or swap one of them for Kone, and if so which one?

I might apply for community manager.

The first thing I'd do is give anyone who disagrees with my FPL related opinion a 24 hour ban.

    Harsh but fair I believe.
