Gameweek 8 sees the launch of the latest team competition for the Fantasy Football Scout community organised by FFS UEFA. Following the success of last season’s ICC-themed cricket tournament, the group have created FFS Beach Soccer World Cup 2013, with 16 teams, each comprised of 11 players, competing for the crown.

If you’re new to the concept and are wondering just what all the chatter has been about, here’s a link to their site which will help explain matters in a little more detail.

Essentially, the scoring is based around the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Each team started scouting for players (ie, FPL managers) on Sunday, October 6 and the recruitment period will come to a close on Wednesday, October 16, with the roster of team players announced on Thursday, October 17.

The teams are led by a captain and vice-captain and guided by a manager, who decide which seven of their 11 players to field each week – depending on the perceived prospects of their FPL line-ups -and which four to bench. Their overall FPL scores for the Gameweek, with hits taken into account, will form the team’s score that week – by outscoring their opponents, they chalk up a win.

The first match in Gameweek 8 will be no more than a friendly before the main event gets underway the following weekend. This sees the 16 teams compete in four groups of four between Gameweek 9 and 11 – the top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stages, where sides square up in a head-to-head elimination process from Gameweek 12 until the final in Gameweek 15. What's it called? The competition is called the Friends life t20 competition.
Is it easy? Well it's quite tough!
So How does it work?
There are 18 teams
There are 3 groups in total, 6 teams in each group
The Group Stage will host 10 matches each
Each team plays each other two times, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the quarter-final stage. Group winners gain a home draw for the quarter-final.
During the group stage, teams are awarded three points for a win, one point for a draw, with no points awarded for a defeat.
In the case that 2 or more teams in a Group end up on the same Points, head-to-head record and Goal Difference (GD) comes into play in that priority.
All quarter final will take place in GW11.
Finals Day will take place in GW12.
Prize! The winner will win a £15 iTunes voucher!
All point hits count. No new FPL teams created for this purpose will be allowed.

Ukrainian Peasants,

Although it is beneath ourselves to send official correspondence to a country whose independence we do NOT recognize, we nonetheless feel that our soldiers, i.e. beach soccer players, need a warm-up before taking the Beach Soccer World Cup by storm. To that extent, the CFBSGCR challenges you to a friendly game during GW8 on our Siberian sandy courts.

With a twist.

Should, as expected, you be defeated you must comply with the following 3 conditions:

1) Granchenko (or is it Granchuk? Silly Ukrainian names) to announce on the ScoutCast following our game that, verbatim: 'Team Russia is a menacing force in the BSWC, they are the clear favorites to run away with it.'

2) For a period of one week, Russian traitor Tinkerchuk (formerly known as Tinkerman and Tinkamon) to change his name to Tinkerov, together with an appropriate Russian flag in his grav.

3) JОПTY to make a sticky topic in the BSWC article asking who the favorite team to win it is and suggest that Russia are his clear #1 favorite for the title.

In the unlikely event that you win the friendly game in GW8, we here at the CFBSGCR will comply with the following:

1) Our team will be renamed to the Ukrainian Province of Russia for one week. All official correspondence will comply with this temporary designation.

2) General Pepin will change his name to General Pepinchenko and Colonel JK will change his name to Colonel JK'chuk for one week

3) We agree to no longer poach your players after successfully poaching In Tommy We Trust and In Like Flynn, both Ukranian born

        Which college? I finished BTech (Comp Science) from VIT, then joined Flipkart (for an awesome package, mind you 🙂 ), and am now working at a start-up in Pune. Great work, but all my friends and family are in Bangalore. Feel like I want to go back to Flipkart, Bangalore. There, I have summarized my last 4-5 years.

        Really? I've got Eto'o, Willian etc.... will get Navas soon for my bpl squad. Aguero & Suarez will have to wait until prices come down but I should have enough for one or the other in a few days if things carry on as they are.
        
        If anything, it's easier to make money than when I started last March.
        
        That said, I an still crap at the game 🙂

        I like to trade Silver players but I'm just finding it difficult to make good profits at the moment as it seems a lot of people are trying the same sort of method, then again last time I tried was about 5 days ago, I may have a stab at it again tomorrow 😀

        Yup.. contracts for me. The unlimited consumable pile makes it so much easier. I have 250+ shinies bought at 200/250 selling at 400/450, and getting them at the lower price is so very simple and much les work than lst season.
