FFS UEFA Beach Soccer Tournament 2013

Gameweek 8 sees the launch of the latest team competition for the Fantasy Football Scout community organised by FFS UEFA. Following the success of last season’s ICC-themed cricket tournament, the group have created FFS Beach Soccer World Cup 2013, with 16 teams, each comprised of 11 players, competing for the crown.

If you’re new to the concept and are wondering just what all the chatter has been about, here’s a link to their site which will help explain matters in a little more detail.

Essentially, the scoring is based around the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Each team started scouting for players (ie, FPL managers) on Sunday, October 6 and the recruitment period will come to a close on Wednesday, October 16, with the roster of team players announced on Thursday, October 17.

The teams are led by a captain and vice-captain and guided by a manager, who decide which seven of their 11 players to field each week – depending on the perceived prospects of their FPL line-ups -and which four to bench. Their overall FPL scores for the Gameweek, with hits taken into account, will form the team’s score that week – by outscoring their opponents, they chalk up a win.

The first match in Gameweek 8 will be no more than a friendly before the main event gets underway the following weekend. This sees the 16 teams compete in four groups of four between Gameweek 9 and 11 – the top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stages, where sides square up in a head-to-head elimination process from Gameweek 12 until the final in Gameweek 15.       if this fails you are welcome to join the non existing team portugal
      we are a team in name only, there is no application process and we wont actually play any games
      we are like the harlem globe trotters of beach football and only play exhibition games because we are too talented to play in leagues.
      you can also add the winner of the algarve invitational to your list of achievements.

    Organisers of the FFS UBS 2013. Taking into consideration the number of people still trying to get into a squad( i guess around 20 - 40 people are really desperate), why not increase the the allowed number of players on the pitch. Like for instance 11 instead of 7. So the squad size can be increased to 15. This would give a chance for another desperate 64 players a chance. I am not questioning your authority. But merely suggesting. There is still a weeks time for player additions. This would give a chance for so many of our friends who missed out.

        Merely a suggestion. But most of the managers have bragged about rejecting more than 20 people because of unavailable slots.So i guess finding players wouldn't be a problem.

      It wouldn't necessarily work. Even with an increased roster, doesn't mean that teams would actually select players from that 20-40. I wouldn't be surprised if they still went elsewhere to target 'marquee' signings.

      And Team Solomon Islands is officially full. Belgian Blue has accepted our offer for our final roster spot. I assume the blue in his name is a reference to the crystal blue lagoons of the Solomons. Welcome aboard Belgian! (Only 19-39 more left to go).

      I think it might be a bit late to increase team size now as, for example, Netherlands team is well established now and the team has gelled.

      Also, I think that more than 11 becomes a bit too many.

      A better option, imo, would be to add one more team per group - another four teams and 44 spaces.

            there are still genuine places up for grabs, so stick with it and having been on here a lot i think there are only a few who have made any great effort to get in one. most seem to have just applied at start and then left it. So there are a few managers who will pick based on level of desire to be included.
            i know it feels like when you ask once or twice and dont get response you are not going to get in, but i did eventually and never really put much effort in terms of actually asking but did get asked a few times to apply due to, well probably annoying dominance of thread. Plus I think other on the council suggest people to teams stil lempty based on level of interest

        One of my mates is from West Indies and he says it a lot. He calls other black people "brothers" or "bro". I say it to him as well, as I know him well enough and he knows I mean it affectionately. I'm not sure it's exclusively used in this context though.

            No, it gives an expected FPL score for each of your players by GW and a total expected score. However, I don't really trust it, e.g. it downgrades scores by a factor based on how many games the player is expected to play but it's difficult to know what this factor is and it often seems to be out of date.

              If RMT is to be believed, every one who is doing well this year is due for a tumble. Everyone who is doing poorly this year, will soon be rising.

              I exagerate, but it does seem to include some assumptions in its calculations that simply aren't holding up this year - yet?

    Just back from the first training session of Team Solomon Islands .Had a good long chat with arguably the best manager in the competition and I must say that am impressed . Under Shadow's Intellectual guidance we will be tough nuts to crack and it will definitely help me improve my FPL rank
