Vigilant Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers will be more than aware that bonus points are now being awarded differently. For the third successive season, a new system was introduced which, to some extent, moved the goal posts when it comes to which players benefit from the post-match supplementary points.

It’s already evident that the new Bonus Points System (BPS) has had an impact on where and how the points are shared out compared to last term’s EA Sports PPI (and the “man in a stand” votes from the sesaons before). On examination of the points earned so far, we’ve been able to pick up on one or two key trends here and there but, despite transparency from the FPL as to how it is calculated, the science of just how they arrive at the final BPS number has largely remained a mystery. We hope to address that.

Over the last six weeks I have been tirelessly poring through all of the raw data provided to us by Opta in the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area to find out exactly how players are boosting their BPS tallies beyond the bread and butter rewards for the likes of providing an assist, returning a clean sheet or scoring a goal.

In the first of three articles on this theme, we’ll begin by examining what is arguably the most profitable and purest means for players to bump their BPS – a strong pass completion ratio.

These days, Internet dating sites seem to be quite a good way if you are no good at traditional chatting up.

        Supermarkets also good apparently.

My theory is that if I hang with attractive women, say at the gym or at a bar, that will get other women jealous so therefore, I will get more women.

Women will think you're gay, and guys will hate you because they have misunderstood your relationship with these girls.

Their boyfriends will want to pound you into the ground by the way, if you're not gay

You shouldn't have any worries, although I hope your using tabbed nails to secure the felt. Also if you are concerned about moisture from unfinished work simply use a 6mil poly to drape over the ridge down to the last row and use the bundles to hold in place.

    Current top 5:

    1 Sturridge (54)
    2 Yaya Toure (50)
    3 Ramsey (47)
    4 Lovren, Fonte (46)
    5 Giroud, Terry (45)

Probably, but sooner or later he will drop to the bench and then you are stuck with a 5th mid who doesn't play and you have to waste a transfer on. As long as the rest of your team looks good it could be a fun punt to have for a few weeks though.

Just had him as a short term punt, Was really impressed with him even before his brace. Januzaj being in his final year of contract surely means Moyes will have to play him just to make sure there would be no repeat of Pogba's issue this time around. Thanks for the input mate

Great insightful article. Made me think differently about how to pick defenders. Is pass completion for the bonus now more important than occasional attacking threat? When choosing between the similarly priced full back who bombs forward with opportunities for assists and the cb who passes the ball out of defence and is a clean sheet bps magnet which way do you go?

        After canvassing 2 people?

Benteke (and/or arguably Remy) play(s) for the worst team(s) on that list. I'd say that counts fairly heavily against them.

Giroud is pretty much the only option Arsenal have as a striker.

I imagine Suarez to play deeper/roaming when L'pool are at full strength possibly making him more of an assister than scorer. I'd be tempted to peg Sturridge as the best L'pool option.

Aguero is as nailed on as a ManC forward comes. Negredo/Dzeko/Jovetic will rotate based on form/fitness/fixtures, seemingly.

Lukaku looks good from his recent form. Who knows if he can keep it up for a season with regular starts? But you would imagine he can. Everton look fairly attack minded under Martinez.

ManU are not playing well at the moment. Something amiss in that part of Manchester.

There are so many things to consider and I could just randomly throw 3 names at you, but I think your question is actually very difficult to answer.

Sturridge will be good for sure, but for pure consistency and reliability as captain, Suarez will be thee main man I think.

Tekkers' scores speak for themselves. Villa were awful last year, but in FPL terms, he still beat almost every other striker. And seems better this year.

I hear you mate, It's just something i've been pondering over ever since the international break came, I know there are some right pretty good options in the front 3, hence the advice seeking. I failed with the RVP selection initially, am not writing him off, but then, there surely are other strikers performing better than him at the moment. Thanks for your input, much appreciated

I personally expect them to go back to the 4-2-3-1 as Rodgers said that the formation will depend on the players who are available. But with so many great defenders and 2 grear forwards you never know. They were also very good defensively at the start of the season.
