The waiting is finally over. A little later than anticipated, we roll out the First Round Draw for the eighth Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power – for those who submitted their teams for the Gameweek 11 qualifying round, read on to discover whether you made the cut as we assess some of the standout head-to-heads set to take place over Gameweek 12 next weekend.

First up, if you managed a score of 55 points or more (after points spent on transfers), a place in the knockout stages awaits. All previous winners of the cup have received an automatic bye into the First Round – reigning champion Wild Rover find himself the underdog as he kicks off his defence against frankm8, with an overall rank of around 885,0000 compared to his opponents 37,000.

The full first round draw can be viewed on this page.

Looking at some of the previous winners, our very own Jonty squares up to site regular Back to Back Ballacks, while long-time site visitor Goonerdave finds himself up against The Menaces Return.

Some other “old school” names such as SuperDunny, Gargamel and Shipsontrev jump out on first glance – they are set to take on RafaMC, bekorchi and flipaduck respectively.

One of the site’s new moderating team, Greendwindmill, braces himself for a clash against Tokyo Red, while our Suspension Tightrope expert Anorak will face SAAB for a spot in the second round. Evs is up against mark collier – this looks a tough one, with both inside the top 10,000 – while MissPolly has the honour on taking on Granville, no less.

Four of the highest ranked managers in the draw go head-to-head, as Accounting on Chris (8,825) takes on Unbelievabletekkers (16.374) and champskebab (6,083) gears up for a clash with nowayjose, who sits in 275th spot in the overall rankings.

Beric gets the chance to continue his superb season. Currently sitting inside the top 1,000, he takes on g-doo, who is very much the outsider here, with a ranking of 145,000. Forca Inter will fancy his chances of progressing. In the First Round, our site regular has been drawn against MB10 – the former has an overall ranking around 71,000 against his opponents’ 233,000.

Giggs Boson, another familiar name around these parts, takes on CanTheyScore – both look evenly-matches so far, with respective ranks of 30,167 and 24,544, while Germanphil (ranked 173,368) has a real uphill task ahead – he’s up against TitusShambles, the highest-ranked manager in the First Round draw, with an overall rank of 102.

With our new Cup system now in place (more good work by Ed), we can monitor how these ties are shaping up as the Gameweek progresses and later in the tournament we’ll even be considering live draws – Sir Trevor Brooking not supplied.

As always, good luck to everyone involved.

Suarez out of those I think. Aguero RVP or Rooney would be the only ones to tempt me elsewhere I think. Maybe Benteke but his form isn't great and this injury concern aswell, I just couldnt back him.

Baines is ranked 1st in defenders for points (64), 3rd in midfielders & 4th equal with RVP & Suarez in the forwards. The only way I could go Lukaku to Rooney was by selling Baines & I didn't want to do that. Rooney has only scored 2 more points than Baines (66-64) & is 3.3m dearer. Also I read on here that Baines is attacking more with the return of Pienaar. I ended up going Lukaku to Remy (c). Baines is too good to sell.

Yeah, but that logic also points to defenders that are just a few points behind Baines and way cheaper. Works both ways...

Will be enough of a differential just owning them. The big difference in team scores this GW will be dependant on the CAR - MU result. I'm hoping for some resolute defence from the home side.

I currently have mine on Suarez but I may change it come the end of the week, when the captions poll and other indicators of better captain options are out. And if Suarez plays a minimal role vs Jordan, then he will be more fit for the weekend, essentially, it's too early to choose right now in my opinion.

just realise why ppl all go for ageuro rooney n suarez..did a quick check and using my own judgement i got the following list for captains

    13:aguero 21:rooney 29:suarez 37:rooney
    14:suarez 22:ageuro 30:aguero 38:aguero
    15:suarez 23:rooney 31:aguero
    16:chelsea 24:arsenal 32:rooney
    17:suarez 25:rooney 33:ageuro
    18:rooney 26:aguero 34:rooney

just my opinions n not trying to say tt suarez is not important etc..n no account of dgw cl league etc..gw16 n 24 is becos chelsea n arsenal home palace n the tri have reasonable tough fixture. all i wan sae is that with the tri u are confirmed w a good captainer..thus they are worth of the price imo..of cos rooney vs rvp or suarez vs sturridge etc is subjected to preference n one's budget

This is my opinion on who if the best captain pick from now till the end of the season. This does not account for possible fixture changes and DGW's. If you own these 3, you are almost guaranteed a good captain choice every week. This is why they are worth the money.

Keep him, Everton's fixtures aren't the best in the short term, but after GW 16, they are incredibly better! He is immune to rotation in my opinion and during the winter period is ideal. 7.7 million is definitely a lot of money, but he is arguably the best FPL defender.

If I had him I'd keep and get a WBA or United defender to cover the poorer fixtures. As Rambo says those fixtures are golden over Christmas and New Year. His attacking stats may have dropped off a lot recently but his potential is still huge.

Depends how much they increase by. If they increase by only 0.1, selling the player will loose you team value by 0.1. But if they increase 0.2 ,you will pocket 0.1 million and also loose 0.1 if you sell them. Basically selling a payer who has increased by value looses you team value.

Thanks all - be great to see Theo back (he could be a superb differential in fpl this week!)

Will wait for Wenger's presser before making my move - Kolo needs to go, but neither GJ or Evra have decent fixtures for the next 2 so thinking they can probably wait a week or 2.

Walcott(c) if confirmed fit - probably the week to take a gamble given nobody really stands out!

Lads, looking for some info on injuries if you've heard anything?

    A) Mert
    B) Ramsey
    C) Chester
    D) Brady
    E) Walcott

Four of the above are in my team and I want Wally soon. Heard Wally may be ready but can't find anything concrete.

A word of caution. I had Michu from gameweek 2 last season. Just before the Arsenal away game (where he scored 2) I thought he can't keep this up and I made a good profit on him so I got rid. It really hurt my season (that and not owning RVP!)

Do mirallas to sessegnon this gw or save a transfer n do mirallas to wally/coutinho/michu next week. Doin toure to burner next week either way to free up cash hence why I can afford a premium mid nezt gw n not now. Would mean playin ravel/mirallas this week

I would go RvP to Rooney and upgrade mid. Rooney's appearances have been far more impressive than RvP's and I just don't see the extra couple of mil in diff being worth it.

Hear what you are saying, I'm playing a bit of catch up on my mini league now and VP would certainly be a differential. Also think he's going to kick on now and show some of that form that has made him essential over the last few seasons. Having Rooney instead gives the opportunity to upgrade say Sess to Coutinho but not convinced it will pay off any better. In short VP's potential feels worth it, IMO.

Right! So after careful consideration, I have made my mind up to get rid of Baines for around 4-5 GW'S. Will 100% get him back for Fulham at Goodison.

Baines and Townsend > Sess and Terry looks good to me. I fancy Terry to start racking up the points now. Good fixtures. Mou should get the defence sorted. Terry is as nailed on as any to play during the Christmas pile up.

Hi Rohan, fellow-Baines owner too. I'm keeping because I can still decent returns particularly with the bps in his favour. I'm not sure the fixtures matter too much with him - seems to come up with the goods on a regular basis.

        Hey Jaf!!

Well I have been very pleased owning Baines thus far. If I had the funds I'd keep him but I fancy Terry to outscore him over 4-5 weeks. Jags is a bap whore who gobbles up baps for every CS Everton keep so the Baps is not the biggest attraction with Baines. And with that set of fixtures, I see only 1 Cs at home to Stoke who seem to be hitting from.

Hence the Terry switch. Need to get Townsend out of my team and want Sess. Baines funds that. Not the idea way but points over value I reckon

          1st Dec - Home v Southampton
          4th Dec - Away v Sunderland

What transfers can I make to improve my team in the long-run? Particularly happy with my midfield despite how it looks. It's been bringing me in points and 3 green arrows in a row. Was thinking of my defence but not sure what to do.

    Boruc Adrian
    Coleman Clyne Toure Wilson Ward
    Ozil Ramsey Januzaj Ravel Brady
    Aguero RVP Sturridge

Had 2 FT. Already used one on Sturridge > Suarez. Have one FT left with 1.7m in the bank. Need to get rid of Toure (losing his spot in first XI?), Wilson (Benched?), Ward (Crystal Palace...). Same could be said about Coleman and Clyne having bad fixtures.

This is encouraging to hear. I've seen the same in Ivanovic, it's a miracle for me that such a guileless player has been used at right back for so long. Azpilicueta seems to offer much more going forward whether he plays LB or RB.
