Not often acclaimed for his sage-like wisdom, Granville is enjoying his season in the sun and is firing advice, sympathy and jibes my way, in equal measure. With little to lose, I’ve even resorted to taking his guidance on board. After spending points on transfers on the Mancunian’s recommendation, I’m looking on my squad with optimistic eyes, although Granville is far from convinced that I made the “greatest hits”.

After raining on my revival parade, Granville joins me to talk Suarez, Oscar vs Hazard and Jim Bowen before we roll out the podcast regulars – “All Aboard”, the weekend preview and the usual dalliance with the ScoutCast team.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Given I'm playing Harper in goal;

    Which one to bench?
    A) Rosenior
    B) Koscielny
    C) Nastasic
    D) Yanga-Mbiwa

He'd be on his own probably with Coutinho coming into a more advanced position. Suarez had scored plenty before Sturridge even came to Liverpool last year, so I wouldn't worry about a lack of chances either.

    Mignolet 3.9
    JT GJ Mert Vlaar BTurner
    Hazard Sess Ramsey Ravel Brady
    Suarez Aguero Remy

    0.6M in the bank.

I think it has a nice balance with Remy up top instead of Rooney, I have horrid TV so didn't go for Rooguerez. Thoughts on the midfield and defensive picks?

In my opinion I don't trust Arsenals defence. I've got Terry at the minute and he's really frustrating to own, but he should come good soon. GJ's a good pick, but you have Mignolet for 'pool cover.

I feel they've been underperforming in terms of clean sheets this season, defensive stats are fairly solid and they're not letting in a lot of goals. One goal conceded the last 3 (vs United) and 3 home games in 4 coming up.

JT is frustrating to own but you just know they'll start shutting out the opponents with fixtures still being good. Tough one.

Good balance. It has an eye for the busy period too so I like it.

Guess you can always downgrade in defence if Theo or some other big hitter goes nuts. (Assuming Hazard consistently does the business).

I've gone with the assumption that Hazard is a Wally placeholder, but Ramsey -> Walcott could be possible. If I go with Rooney up top then I can forget about 2 big hitters in midfield at least.

Yep can see that which is why I like it. Forward thinking. If Kun goes quiet or starts getting rotated too much then that could be a way of getting Rooney in for some better fixtures.

Thanks. Rooney's stats are off-putting to say the least though, Aguero and Suarez have been in a completely different league and he's still about their price-range which makes it easier for me to ditch.

On the other hand, he IS a United striker. Still haven't owned one Man U player this season. No reason other than that RVP was too expensive at the start and Rooney was under the transfer saga.

I like it for the most part but I'd swap Johnson out for a Southampton or Hull defender, given their value for a good number of clean sheets. Liverpool defence is fairly solid of course but with you having Mignolet I can see you getting somewhat frustrated one week when you double them up and they concede a scrappy goal to a terrible side at home. I think the saving you make could be invested in your midfield for example Mirallas who would very much be a differential and is in good form despite perhaps not getting the goals (he did score for Belgium this week, though).

Totally. They've defended well all season including a clean sheet at Anfield. Apart from these next two fixtures they're still a great option. Always form over fixtures for me, and given I watch them regularly (they're my second team) they very very rarely gift opportunities to any team.

I see your point, same could be said about Everton. I still feel I should use the opportunity to play the fixtures when I've got the WC, then I can squeeze an Everton/SOT player back in after they've weather the storm. That's the idea, anyways.

Thought I'd post this again in the DZ, just incase any of you missed it and find it useful!

Here's 'The Bookies Picks.' Bet365 have listed Hull and Man United as joint favourites to keep a clean sheet, whilst Southampton are the least. Ageuro is the bookies favourite forward to find the net. And if you were to put £1 on the bet365 XI team to do well you could earn an amazing £7,130!

Play Chester and let auto subs do the business. I doubt Bruce will bring him on at centre half for a cameo, unless they are winning by 3, which Hull never do.

Coleman can drop out, as the SAS should grab one you'd think.

    Mignolet, Boruc
Coleman, Evra, Walker, B Turner, Wilson
    Ozil, Lallana, Morrison, Barkley, Townsend,
    Giroud, Suarez, Rooney..

1.4m in the bank.. 2 FT..

I have a provisional plan to get Aguero in next week.. Which would you choose.?
    A. Change Walker to Olssen (Other, 5.7m) this week and then Ozil to Wally+ Giroud to Aguero next..

    B. Change Walker to Olssen AND Cabaye for Townsend this week, Wally/ Aguero for Ozil/Giroud next (-4 pts), Cabaye has two good home fixtures coming up and is on set pieces it seems.

    What would you do?

Yeah, that is a good point. Easier to downgrade. What about Walcott? With a defense like that I'd have to make up the money in either midfield or forward appartment to upgrade a mid-priced midfielder to Wally, if not I'd have to ditch Hazard and he could do real well in the coming GWs.

True that. I'll have to ponder some more, but I reckon I'll risk it with Remy and leave some wiggle-room for the the Belgian Beast that is Benteke up top. I think Lukaku could spring to life from GW16 and outwards as well.

Remy is very consistent though, since joining QPR who were worst team in the league last season only 4 players have scored more goals than him in the league (Benteke, Suarez, Sturridge, Van Persie) meaning he has been outscoring likes of Aguero and Rooney since January. Very impressive in fairness

I'd wait for LFC presser and see if there's anything on Sturridge, BR saying he's played through a problem the last 3-4 weeks does not sound good at all to me. I'd be looking to ditch him, Giroud scored all his goals at home last season (practically) and has 3 home games in the next 4.

Is now as good a time as any to replace Toure?

Would like to leave enough cash for the option of Nasri -> Walcott next week, which means I'd have up to 6.0m for Toure's replacement this week. Wanting Walcott also rules out an ARS defender. I think my options are below - whatcha reckon?

    (A) GJ - good attacking threat and decent fixtures. Toughie this week though.

    (B) McAuley - good attacking threat and rotates superbly with Clyne. Seems a tad expensive though.

    (C) C Davies - cheap, good attacking threat with a great fixture this week. Also leaves enough cash for Mirallas -> Michu/Cout in GW14 (A and B don't). Not overly convinced with Hull as a defensive outfit though

    (D) Save transfer

    Boruc
    Baines, Terry, Ward
    Ramsey, Mirallas, Nasri, Snodgrass
    Aguero, Suarez, Giroud

    Davis, Ravel, Toure, Clyne

What are the chances of Oscar starting? Should i play him or Amalfitano (allready have Sess playing)?

He's had the tendency of coming on from the bench in the game immediately after internationals. But despite that, I wouldn't want to overload on WBA - I'd still play Oscar.

I thought so, cheers guys. I guess my hope is Oscar scores after he comes from the bench.

Need some advice, this is my team for my wildcard this week:
    Krul (Harper)
    Johnson, McAuley, Mertesacker, (Fonte, Baker)
    Sessegnon, Ramsey, Yaya, Lallana (Morrison)
    Aguero, Suarez, Rooney.

Should I do Lallana/Rooney to Hazard/Remy? Any other recommendations? It's hard to get rid of Fonte and Ramsey because they were bought at 4.5 million and 5.6 million respectively (same for Yaya who was bought at 8.8 million).

Looks great. Rooguerez. I'd put BUrner ahead of Clyne on the bench, other than that good to go. All 3 strikers are possible captains.

worth doing enrique-GJ for -4 (starting him ahead of coleman) or rolling it over and hoping I don't end up with further injuries next week?

Are you happy enough with your team that you can miss out on a 'productive' transfer next week? If not, you may as well take the hit now and get it out of the way, otherwise all you are really doing is delaying it.
