We head off to Paddy with another tenner in hand for our first Flutter of the New Year this morning. All three of our bets find their way into this week’s Scout Picks – we look to home games at St Mary’s and Goodison on Saturday before backing the Gunners chief playmaker to bring home the money on Monday evening:

First up, we turn to Southampton’s home game against West Brom, with Adam Lallana on our radar. The Saints skipper has scored three of his four league goals in front of the St Mary’s faithful and, having climbed off the bench to net against Burnley in the FA Cup last week, we’re backing him to produce the goods again. Paddy have offered odds of 7/1 on Lallana to grab a goal and Southampton to produce a clean sheet and we’re throwing £3 their way.

We make our way to Goodison now, where the inconsistent Romelu Lukaku earns our backing. The big Belgian has notched in just one of the last seven Gameweeks but will be confident of returning to goalscoring ways as Norwich roll up to Merseyside devoid of the injured Michael Turner in defence. Paddy are prepared to offer 7/1 on Lukaku scoring two or more and an Everton clean sheet – with the Canaries finding the net just twice in their last  four, Paddy takes another £3 of our cash for this one.

Our final wager goes on Monday evening’s encounter at Villa Park. Arsenal roll up to Paul Lambert’s strugglers reeling from the news that Theo Walcott is out for the season but Arsene Wenger is set to hand Mesut Ozil a starting berth after the German missed the last two with a shoulder injury. Paddy are offering odds of 6/1 on Ozil to score and the Gunners to keep a clean sheet – given that Wenger’s side have conceded a single goal in the last four, we make this our bet of the weekend and empty our wallet of its remaining £4.

If you’re yet to register an account with Paddy, be sure to check out this week’s AWAY DAY TREBLE LINK. Paddy are offering odds of 8/1 for Chelsea, Arsenal and City all to win at Hull, Villa and Newcastle respectively.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up on this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Cheap relatively nailed on 5th mid:

    a) Colback
    b) Ward-Prowse
    c) Pozuelo
    d) Delph
    e) Lucas

    Who would you go with?

      I wouldn't say i'm a lover, but i am taking a punt on him.

      1) He has two VERY good fixtures back-to-back
      2) He will be in very few sides in the top 10k
      3) He has great form going into those games
      4) He has amazing points per game this season, and in the past a proven pedigree when motivated and nailed on.

      I'm no lover of Adebayor but this is why I've chosen him over these 3;

      - Soldado is only good for penalties, since Sherwood's taken over Adebayor's been a lot more influential

      - Lukaku is 1M more and proving to be just as unreliable. Lukaku seems the to perform opposite to his fixtures.

      - Giroud is almost 1M more and Adebayor has better form. Plus Giroud is a lot better when Walcott's around.

        1) Not rate Soldado as highly as his Liga pedigree would demand.

              I don't mind Giroud as an option, but without Walcott he visibly suffers for service/big chances.

              Just checked his stats (mid post!) and he's managed 3 goals in 10 without Walcott, 5 in 8 with him.

              Still like him as an option but prefer Adebayor for cheaper.

    On WC, Is it worth downgrading my 4th mid from Lallana -> Januzaj if it allows me the money to do a straight swap of Ade/Giroud -> Aguero? 5th mid is going to be a cheapie (Probably Bradley Johnson)

    1 gameweek punt. Which striker should I get for Rooney? I have Lukaku and Suarez.
    Can't decide between Negredo or Adebayor. Or maybe Giroud. Or maybe a mad punt on Berba or Campbell.

    City scored 11 in their last 4 league away games. Tempted by Negredo after mid weeks performance.

      Negredo has scored 1 goal away all season. It's a bit like banking on Soldado to come good when you know the odds are against you!

    Have Azpi as my 3rd defender at present but wondering whether Kolarov wouldn't be better option for the next two GW's seeing as he's apparently first choice and Citeh have cup games in midweek to play Clichy in.

    Anyone?

    Struggling with this one....

    A) No hits
    B) Rooney -> Negredo/Giroud (4 points)
    C) Rooney -> Adebayor (4 points)

    C) leaves enough cash for either Sterling -> Gerrard/Oscar or Lukaku -> Aguero next week

    Szczesny
    Evra, Terry, Evra
    Ozil, Silva, Nasri, Barkley, Sterling
    Suarez, Lukaku

    Davis, Ward, MOlsson, Rooney

    Morning, just a quicky, if you will.

    McGregor H to Chelsea or Speroni A to Spurs. Not loving either but I have to put 1 in?

      Speroni has more chance of save pts. Soldado will kick it straight at him several times 😀

    Team for this gw looks like this:
    Krul
    Clyne, Coleman Mertesacker
    Barkley, Hazard, Özil, Lallana
    Suarez, Negredo, ROONEY

    subs: Harper, Ravel, Bardsley, Rosenior

    I've already taken a hit to sort out injuries so which one would you prefer:

    A) Rooney -> Ade/JRod/Lukaku for another hit?
    B) Bench Rooney and play Ravel
    C) Wildcard

    Any advice would be great, thanks!
