Last week’s Flutter was a case of “so near, yet so far” for a couple of our picks. Kevin Mirallas grabbed a goal but Everton’s inability to keep out Villa cost us and, whilst Arsenal’s defence delivered yet another clean sheet, Santi Cazorla was unable to find the net to bring us into profit. Once again, we turn to the Scout Picks for inspiration, with our hopes falling on certain individuals from Southampton, Chelsea and United this weekend.

Our final £4 goes on United’s home game against Fulham. Paddy are offering 3/1 on Robin van Persie to score two or more and David Moyes’ side to keep a clean sheet against the struggling Cottagers. Bearing in mind that the visitors have conceded more away goals than any other side and have drawn blanks in each of their last three, our confidence is high that the Dutchman and his team-mates can help us get the better of Paddy.

      I'm also sitting with Rooney cap at the moment alongside Suarez and Ade up front.

      I've not decided between Koscielney and Coleman in the bench, I can actually see the Arsenal v Liverpool game being tight, whereas Martinez and Sherwood are both attack minded first.

      Personally would always go with the home player when a marginal decision but Mirallas does appear to be playing OOP so is a tough one. Erikson probably edges it for me.

      Dzeko slight injury would probably deter me from giving him the armband so one of the other two.

      Agreed, but against the defence with most clean sheets in the league.

      Depends on you status, if I was top of my league I would probably be playing safe on Suarez, but alas I am not and so going with the Roopig. Could backfire tremendously.....

      I went negredo, didn't think it was much of a choice....

      But most people here seem to be going Dzeko. Worry seems to be about injury.

      If fit and you can afford him, I think negredo is a much better option

        The concept of not doubling up on a defender and goalkeeper from the same team is potentially flawed; if you rotate you have selected goalkeepers with an intention to rotate according to their fixtures, in order to maximise the points that your team acquires each week, why would you not choose to do the same with two of your defenders.

        If you have selected your rotating goalkeepers well, in order to (almost) always have a favourable match up, the defenders that you have selected as well would also have favourable match ups, maximising the potential for point scoring while attempting to keep costs to a minimum.

        The concept of rotating goalkeepers is to try and optimise your teams ability to generate points while limiting the overall cost of the players at that position; it, therefore, frees up more funds to spend in other positions including, but not exclusively to, some heavy hitting defenders that you would play almost all, if not every, week.

        As such, I would argue, it is actually very wise to at least consider to double up on goalkeepers and defenders.
