We delve into the data in the first members article of the week as we assess the stand-out statistics over Saturday and Sunday’s eight matches. Everton’s left back, Newcastle and Villa’s top scorers, Chelsea’s weekend goal hero and Cardiff’s attack under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are some of the topics brought under analysis this time around:

That wasn't a conflict that was ever going to do anything but drain resources, it was during the total war 70 years ago that employment rose due to the mobilisation of the work force en masse.

Kinda LONG POST ALERT 😛 Ok, I have always been a fan of statistics. and worked this out on my ML.

The average players owned for this GW in the top 12 of ML are 6.3 players irrespective of whether those players will feature or not, meaning they belong to a team that has a game. I am 8th with 9 players to play. The difference between 1st and 12th is only 48 points.

Now while the average is pretty low, I think it is a great time to gain ground. Do you think it is worth it taking a hit to field 11. 10 without a hit. or even save ? I am leaning toward the 10. What do you guys think.

Trying to get 11 who will score well in five games whilst likely playing each other is hard.
If you have players from all the teams then I fear for quality of squad

Can easily see the average players for teams being 7-8

That what I was avoiding when planning for the GW. None of my players play against each other. Current team:

            Marshall (Mannone)
            Evans Ward Cahill Ivan (Williams)
            Ince Mata Oscar (Mirallas Delph)
            Crouch (Suarez Sturridge)

With 1 FT & 3.2 ITB, considering Delph to Walters

If I understand FPL properly in my first season the only significant ground is going to be made up with the patient W/C savers.

However I think some ground will be made by people who have used this limited G/W to establish a depleted but potentially above average G/W to purposefully empower the upcoming D/GW.

In other words if you didn't get bitten by the Norwich donkey sanctuary B/W then you should do OK.

Ukraine situation is very very serious. Dont see an easy way out. and lets hope China does not get involved pro-russia.

58% of gas consumed in ikraine is imported from Russia.
66% of Russian gas exported to the EU goes thru Ukraine

Crimea, it should be stressed, is sovereign Ukrainian territory. The region chose to become part of Ukraine, it’s home to a large ethnic Ukrainian population and it’s where Ukrainians go to vacation in the summer. In effect, Crimea is important to Ukraine in the same way that Florida or Texas are important to the United States.

While it’s true that many regions of Crimea, especially Sevastopol and the capital of Simferopol, are avidly pro-Russian, much of it is not. The Tatars especially do not want, under any circumstances, to become Russian citizens.

There is also the matter of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, in which Ukraine agreed to give up its nuclear weapons and Russia vowed to respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity. By violating the treaty, Putin is signaling that all agreements signed during Russia’s period of weakness in the 90’s are null and void.

The West really shouldn't yield, even there is major problems over gas, Putin will only get bolder, and as history tends to repeat itself appeasement isn't the answer. It's looking like Sochi is the Russian equivalent of the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

It is indeed, very scary. For a long time folk have worried about tin pot dictators like Saddam whilst Putin is the real worry.

Nothing was ultimately done about Russia's behaviour during the Russian-Georgian war back in 2008. Its highly likely that Putin viewed this as weak. Its a simple matter of what he feels he can get away with with the international community. This has happened before, i guess we can only hope that Putin/Russia stops at Crimea. Somehow i doubt it.

I prefer the 80/20 rule as it seems more effective. Improve the lowest 20% at they are having the biggest negative effect.
Once they improve, review and repeat

Unfortunately the groups default setting is that the lowest 20% isn't worth investing in.
Looking for something that ultimately makes them look at all aspects of their management structure rather than blaming the staff for being unhappy

It's nothing new really, but perhaps it had not been given a name and applied to cycling to the same extent before. Positional chess players (those who prefer strategy to tactics) have been using it for years, and so have most successful fantasy football players. But that shouldn't rule out the possibility that dramatic major gains might also occasionally be possible.

... (The difference in chess, though, is that the marginal gains are applied sequentially rather than simultaneously).

    Ukraine...why Russia Wants It

Crimea is large in Russian history. It was the site of the Crimean War fought in the 1850’s against the French, British and Ottoman Empire . Although Russia lost, the bravery of its soldiers is still a source of Russian pride, much like The Alamo in Texas. Its resort city of Yalta hosted the famous talks between Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill.

Yet Russia’s interests in Crimea go far beyond nostalgia. Remeber studying this, The naval base at Sevastopol, on Crimea’s southwestern tip, is an imp warm water naval base and one of its primary means of extending force through the Mediterranean. It has been alleged that the port city has been used extensively to supply Bashar al-Assad throughout the current civil war in Syria.

And while the lease agreement with Ukraine regarding the base remains valid until 2047, the majority of the Black Sea coastline is held by NATO allies except for Georgia on the east, which is actively seeking NATO membership, and Ukraine in the north.

So, without a naval base in Crimea, Russia would loose some leverag as a global military power.
