I really wouldn't mind if they gave the odd daft assist if it was predictable and consistent.
Last season it was predictable and consistent because the assist rule was extremely simple - the last player to touch the ball before the goal got the assist.
Maybe 5% of the time, this resulted in the awarding of a daft assist like the cross being cleared by a defender but someone lashing in the rebound.
I still think it's much better to be consistent.Open Controls-

It feels like we've had one every fortnight! Every time the ball hasn't gone from assister to scorer without touching another player all kinds of doubt have arisen. The only incidents you got with the last touch rule last season were where the touch was uncertain, and I can only really remember Rooney assistgate which was huge.
