Chelsea midfielder Ramires is banned for four matches after accepting an FA charge of violent conduct. Sylvain Distin joins Phil Jagielka on the sidelines for Everton’s visit to St Mary’s. Moussa Sissoko has returned to training for Newcastle, Michu is out of Swansea’s game with Villa, whilst Gareth McAuley faces a late fitness test ahead of the Baggies’ encounter with West Ham:

Chelsea will be without midfielder Ramires for the top-of-the-table clash with Liverpool. The Brazilian has accepted an FA charge of violent conduct for an off-the-ball incident against Sunderland and will now miss the rest of the season. Meanwhile reports suggest Eden Hazard will not be fit for the Anfield clash, though the winger is on course to return for the vital Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid in midweek.

Ryan Giggs has revealed Rafael and Robin Van Persie are still sidelined for United, though everyone else is fit.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Thomas Vermaelen could return for Arsenal’s home clash with Newcastle. Kieran Gibbs remains out, whilst Abou Diaby is back on the injury list after picking up a groin injury during an outing for the club’s under 21 side earlier in the week.

Morgan Schneiderlin has been ruled out for Southampton’s home encounter against Everton after picking up “a last minute problem”, whilst youngster Harrison Reed is struggling with illness.

Roberto Martinez has ruled Sylvain Distin out of the weekend trip to Southampton, with the defender failing to recover from the hamstring injury that forced him off against United last week. Elsewhere, the Toffees has confirmed Phil Jagielka is also still out, whilst on-loan striker Lacina Traore is unlikely to be fit enough to play again this season.

Newcastle have been boosted by the return to training of Moussa Sissoko this week, with Alan Pardew suggesting that the midfielder “has got a chance” of featuring against Arsenal. On-loan forward Luuk de Jong remains a doubt with an ankle problem.

Norwich boss Neil Adams has confirmed that Joseph Yobo will miss the trip to Old Trafford, as the on-loan defender undergoes further treatment on a calf injury. Elliot Bennett though, is back in the squad following a knee problem, with Adams also reporting no fresh injury concerns.

Michu will miss Swansea’s vital clash with Villa through injury, though Garry Monk remains hopeful that the midfielder will return to play some part before the end of the season.

Aston Villa’s Joe Bennett is Paul Lambert’s only concern ahead of the trip to Swansea, with the defender nursing an ankle injury. Villa will also welcome back Nicklas Helenius into the squad, with the summer signing now fully fit, having overcome a recent thigh problem.

Pepe Mel has revealed that Gareth McAuley has failed to train after missing Monday’s defeat at the Etihad with a calf complaint. The Baggies’ boss has confirmed that the centre-half will face a late fitness test to ascertain his availability for the game against West Ham this weekend.

The Hammers themselves are expected to be without Matt Taylor this weekend. Sam Allardyce admitted he doesn’t think the midfielder will be available due to personal reasons.

All this and more is being updated as the day progresses in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

No. I think I'd go for what you prescribe with Jones... it's a slight risk but I think he'll keep his spot and he's got great fixtures + double coming up + some attacking threat. You get two doublers and Ramsey for a -4, sounds pretty good to me. Captaining Rooney? I think I am.

Seems like Lukaku > Rooney for a hit is a popular dilemma, the best 2 arguments I've seen so far for and against are:

    JOHN TERRY'S DOG
If lukaku gets even an assist rooney would need to get 10 points to beat him, so you could look at it like even if he scores 14-15 points it isnt a massive loss

    ZEP
Doing it this week gives you another game to pay back the hit, and frees up a FT for next week...

    Any other sound arguments?

Who's the "he" at the end of JTD's quote? I don't get it..

Rooney has 3 games, Lukaku has 2, Rooney has easier games, Rooney is a better player.

Both should be motivated for different reasons. More doubt surrounding Rooney but much bigger upside and (C) material.

if you captain Rooney, he'll only need two more points than Lukaku. And you'd probably want to do the swap next week anyway

Nobody is captaining Lukaku this week... Suarez, Aguero and Ramsey are also viable captaincy contenders.

That said, I'm doing this move and probably captaining Rooney. I got a feeling a good old United steamroll is underways.

    @ Those who're buying Rooney.

Are you sure Giggs' wife didn't sleep with Rooney by any chance after she was upset with Giggs? Are you sure if they did sleep together Giggs doesn't know it?

Surely waiting until next GW to buy Rooney is the safe idea?

          - Palace haven't conceded any more than 2 at home since Pulis took over.

          - When Palace played City at the Etihad, it was only 1-0.

          - Palace are second in the Premier League form table at the moment, behind Liverpool.

          - City don't have Silva or Navas and Yaya is a doubt.

          - Southampton are the only team in the league to keep a clean sheet at Fulham's Craven Cottage all season.

(Shuddering that it's come to this)

    Play
    A Colback in a 343 or
    B. Ward in a 433 or
    C. stop farting about and make it -8 to get rid of Mirallas for MF up to 8.4

          For less than 8.4..?
Hmm.. Ramsey and Eriksen were the obvious ones..
          Potentially AJ?

          Other options are:
Lennon, Sessegnon, Holtby.. Not much for that price tbh..

          Maybe just play Colback 😐

You'd probably need to downgrade somewhere to get someone decent in.. Like Coutinho or Nasri..

Take a hit to do Silva to Yaya or Ward to Evra?

Ramsey or nasri for the run in? I'm thinking Nasri as he has a DGW and is probably nailed on with Silva out...

    Silva and Lukaku to:

    A. Nasri and Welbeck
    B. Ramsey and Rooney

Yes B looks better for this GW but Nasri has an extra game.

    All votes and views appreciated.

      B. Doesn't matter if Nasri has an extra game, Ramsey will outscore Nasri and Rooney will outscore Welbeck.

Demi due to bonus in low scoring game and attacking threat. Had more attempts in box than any city def.

Might not even get back into the team with vergini performing well there last two games. If you must have a s'land def, then go alonso.

I do think bardlsey will start however as we need all the attacking threat we can get and up until the last couple game vergini has been dog dirt.
