Edin Dzeko scores twice as City sweep aside Villa to take a significant step towards the title. Yaya Toure chips in with a goal and assist, whilst the City full-backs are also in the points in an emphatic 4-0 win. Goals from Seb Larsson and Fabio Borini help secure Sunderland’s safety as Gus Poyet’s side win for the fourth match in a row:

Dzeko at the Double Again
The Bosnian continued his recent form to help fire City to the verge of the title. Manuel Pellegrini’s side may have missed Sergio Aguero yet again but Dzeko more than made up for his strike partner’s absence by scoring twice and earning the maximum bonus for the second game in a row – serving up a 25-point haul over the double Gameweek. With eight goals and two assists in his last nine appearances, the 7.3-priced striker has stepped up as a key contributor at a time when many of Pellegrini’s main men have been hampered with injuries – as City look to finish the season against West Ham in style and clinch the title, Dzeko’s bandwagon is set to escalate regardless of Aguero’s availability.

Yaya Serves up the Points Once More
Whilst David Silva failed to deliver and Samir Nasri settled for an assist, the Ivorian produced yet another Fantasy masterclass as his relentless season shows no sign of abating. Toure’s goal and assist, allied with a single bonus point, helped his 40% owners to a 17-point double Gameweek total and took the Ivorian onto 235 points for the season. Now up to 20 goals and eight assists, with 10 sets of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) double figures, he’s likely to be the preferred armband choice of many Fantasy managers next Sunday as Pellegrini’s men go for the jugular against Sam Allardyce’s side and attempt to add to their 100-goal haul.

Kolarov and Zabaleta On the Attack
The City full-backs both produced an assist and clean sheet for their owners last night, with the Argentine also serving up a couple of bonus points. The Serbian has now laid on eight assists over his 29 appearances – all the more impressive given that nine of those games have arrived off the bench – whilst Zabaleta’s first assist since December takes his tally to six for the season. The City full-backs sit first and second for assists amongst defenders, and whilst the likes of Toure, Dzeko and Aguero have been the main beneficiaries of Pellegrini’s attacking policy, it’s clear that creativity from deep is also key to the Chilean’s successful system of play.

Black Cats’ Defensive Resilience Key
After the United teamsheet played havoc with our Fantasy plans on Tuesday evening, it was a relief to see Gus Poyet name an unchanged line-up as Sunderland secured their great escape. The Wearsiders chalked up a third successive clean sheet, as Vito Mannone and co racked up the double Gameweek points, with Marcos Alonso proving the pick of the backline bunch after earning an assist and maximum bonus to go along with his pair of clean sheets. The on-loan left-back has now produced two assists in the last four fixtures, and whilst Phil Bardsley sat on the bench yet again as Poyet continued with Santiago Vergini on the right of the back-four, Alonso has backed up his underlying statistics and richly rewarded the 0.3% of Fantasy managers who have gambled on his acquisition.

Borini and Larsson Deliver
Connor Wickham’s run of consecutive returns came to an end last night after the youngster failed to score or assist for the first time in five appearances. Whilst the 4.9-priced forward ended the double Gameweek with seven points to his name after being subbed off around the hour-mark on both occasions, Fabio Borini’s goal and couple of bonus points helped the Italian to a 10-point return over the pair of fixtures. He has now delivered three goals and an assist in his last four, and with a home game against Swansea set to end his season-long loan spell, he could well be in the points once again as Poyet’s side look to finish the season with a fifth straight victory.

Seb Larsson’s assist for Borini’s strike ensured the Swede ended the double as Sunderland’s top-scoring player. Having served up a goal and maximum bonus at Old Trafford on Saturday, Larsson was the Wearsiders main man from an FPL perspective with 17 points – like Alonso, he also proved an outstanding differential, with his ownership less than 1%.

    i have a lead or 25 points in my main cash ML.

    there is 1000 pounds for first and 400 for second so its important.

    is amalfitano aguero and rvp to gerard sturridge and dzeko worth -8?

    the more i think about it a hit is actually the safest play...

    Obviously wait until we hear the press conferences and get updates on Ramsey, Rooney & Aguero but I just wanted to make this point.

    If these guys are out injured a lot of us are going to be in the same boat and need to ship them out for the last GW.

    The most popular and probably the safest transfers will be:

    Rooney -> Sturridge
    Aguero -> Dzeko
    Ramsey -> Gerrard/Sterling/Silva/Nasri (depending on your funds and current team)

    Most people will make these transfers so we will most likely have a good idea what our rivals team will be for the final week. Which brings me to my next point.

    If you are chasing your ML leader then you I think you need to avoid these transfers and go for something a bit more risky.

    Giroud - averaging just under 7 points per game over the last 4 weeks. However, we don't know if Wenger will rest him.
    Eto - Very risky as he is just returning from injury and we don't know if he will play. However, he has shown that he is capable of getting a big haul, his best being 17 points earlier in the season and they are playing the worst team in the premiership.
    Wickham - averaging just under 8 points per game over the last 4 weeks and has been in a rich vein of form in recent weeks.
    Remy - averaging 5 points per game since returning from injury and got double figures in his last game. He is up against a dodgy Liverpool defence so good capitalise again.
    James Wilson - Only played his first game recently and scored 13 points, can he replicate that away to Southampton on the last day.

    ======================================================================
    Eriksen - averaging just over 6 points per game over the last 4 weeks but if you just look at home games he has 11.5 average over the last 4 games.
    Ozil - averaging over 6 points per game since returning from injury, like others on the list he has shown he can score big but he may be rested for cup final.
    Cazorla - averaging just under 7 points per game over last 4 weeks, probably a better bet over Ozil but still at risk of rotation.
    Hazard - Probably the player with the potential to score the most this GW and he looked good when brought on as a sub last week, despite only scoring 1 point. However, we don't know what Jose is thinking after his remarks.
    Schurrle - Only averaging under 2 points per game over the last 4 weeks but he has gotten some massive scores this season 20 being his highest. Is he worth the risk.

    =======================================================================
    Hope this helps you with your final transfers of the season. and good luck in the last week. 😀

      'Chasing' is too broad a term. I wouldn't want to go for differentials if I was chasing down a rival who is 2 points ahead. 20 points ahead and I'd maybe want just a different captain. 50 points ahead and I'd be looking at a whole team of differentials.

    Would anyone please spare a minute for this?

    For a moment I'd like to spare a thought for all those here at FFS who have helped me overtake a mammoth 17 point deficit in my head to head ML which resulted in me winning the league last night with a gameweek to spare! A massive thank you to everyone around here who helped me complete this task which seemed impossible till December when I started following the site regularly and asking for advice. It doesn't work all the time, but it works more often than not. I cant name all the posters as there are so many, but I would like to appreciate your work out here you fantasy geniuses! 😀 😀 😀

    Got a 13 point lead in my mini league but my team is in tatters with injuries. Need some help with transfers. Thinking Stirling in as my rival has him and not sure about -4 or -8.

    My team-
    Mannone (Adrian)
    Ward, Cahill, Zaba, Jones*, Chester*
    Ramsey*, Yaya, Mata*, Eriksen, Noone*
    Suarez, Aguero*, Rooney*

    Rivals team-
    Howard, Davis
    Coleman, Zaba, Ward, Baker, McNaughton
    Yaya, Mata*, Stirling, Ramsey*, Bacuna
    Suarez, Aguero*, Wickham

    *injured or doubt

    Obviously wait on Aguero/Rooney news but i'm struggling this week. Maybe just Aguero + Rooney > Sturridge + Dzeko.

    Need some advice on what to do with my team as I am in complete freefall here 🙁

    team is

    mannone

    jones(injured) coleman, demichelis, vlaar, chambers

    mutch, puncheon, nasri, gerrard, ramsey

    rooney, aguero, suarez

    0.2 in the bank and I have no clue what to do. Thinking rooney and jones out for sturridge and terry maybe. Any suggestions ?

    Would love some advice on how to seal my ML

    Me + 5 points

    Mannone
    Coleman Ward Koscielney
    Nasri Mata Gerrard Eriksen
    Suarez Wickham Kun
    (boruc, ramsey, evra, kolarov)

    Rival
    Mannone
    Coleman Delaney Baker/Rosseinor
    Yaya Mata Gerrard Silva
    Suarez Dzeko Giroud
    (Gazzinga Caulker Ki)

    My plan was aguero + Ramsey + Mata > Sturidge + Yaya + Hazard but as rival had dzeko and yayy (c) last night, all of a sudden i'm in big trouble.
    Should i just do kun + nasri > yaya and dzeko to close him off and hope for the best?
