With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is Spencer.

Krul – Foster
Luis – Coloccini – Wisdom – Ward – Cameron
Mata – Sigurdsson – Eriksen – de Jong – Albrighton
Rooney – Costa – Sturridge

Nothing in the bank.

He is aware that at the back he is relying heavily on clean sheets at Newcastle and West Brom. Any advice on improving his back-line would be appreciated. Also, is he right to opt for the expensive Daniel Sturridge? Will a lack of Arsenal cover come back to bite him?

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

Bit risky here but bit different to others

    Boruc (4m)
Kolarov, Baines, Davies (Van Aanholt, Bruce)
    Siggy, Eriksen, Ramsey, Mata (Ward-Prowse)
    Costa, Bojan, Sturridge

    Any thoughts appreciated?

Boruc is presumably on his way to the bench with Forster arriving. You'll need to wait on Sturridge fitness of course. Kolarov is always a risk but he should start the season.

Don't like your rotating keepers. Would rather have Krul/Foster or Bego/4.0.

Defence looks great. Clyne could be this years Coleman. Debuchy to Evans/Jones. Debuchy offers great attacking threat but don't like Arsenals mixed fixtures. Going to be in my team at some point.

Midfield is too light for my taste if you are planning to rotate 343 and 352.

Whats your escape plan for Bojan if he is massive failure?

    Which team wins?

    Krul/Foster

    Shaw/Debuchy/Luis/Vlaar/Bartley

    Hazard/Ramsey/Eriksen/Siggy/Albrighton

    Rooney/Giroud/Dzeko

    or

    Krul/Foster

    Shaw/Debuchy/Bruce/Bartley/Vlaar

    Hazard/Ramsey/Eriksen/Siggy/Albrighton

    Rooney/Costa/Dzeko

@Spencer: Like your Forwards...The problem with your defence is that Luis, Cameroon, Wisdom are not nailed on to start....Luis is worth taking the risk...I suggest do Cameroon to PvA...who as attacking threat and is nailed on to start..De Jong has fitness worry...and Albrighton may also not start..you can Downgrade De Jong and Upgrade Albrighton or one of your defenders...Rest looks good!

All key bases are covered, which is an obvious plus. H/ever, I must admit that imo, the defence is concerning. If all were to start, then that would be a great team. But I'd be unwilling to have all of Cameron, Mariappa AND dunne, when none are guaranteed starters. It could work out in your favour, but at the same time, if significant bad fortune were to befall you early, and all 3 are dropped/not playing, you might be spending transfers which are avoidable.

Overall though, it looks very nice, and I expect it to do well.

It's certainly got a few interesting differentials from the FFS template spencer!

It seems odd calling Sturridge a differential given his high ownership in the actual game, but such is the case. My main concern would be that you are basically relying on Sturridge for a good start. I like a number of your midfield picks (ie de Jong, eriksen) but I'd be a bit worried because of how much you have invested in your strike force.

If Sanchez, hazard, Ramsey etc. get off to a great start and become instant bandwagons (which many of them have the potential to be) then you're going to need to downgrade one of your killer strike force before giving them a chance to properly prove themselves (ie - I doubt you would be willing to drop Sturridge after a poor/average GW 1 in order to fund the upgrade of a skyrocketing hazard or Sanchez, yet given your allocation of funds, there aren't many other options.

As a NEW fan, I hope that your optimistic investment in our defence is a sign of good things to come, b/c I'm not convinced 😛

Overall, it's a different team, with a few different picks which I like, but I'd be very worried about the relatively little flexibility in midfield should somebody get off to a flier.

        No worries 🙂

Regarding dummett, the chances are low. Santon is first choice when fit (currently injured), which leaves the spot at LB open to dummett and Haidara. However, as of my current understanding, Haidara is most likely to fill the berth.

Dummett was likely to be loaned out this season until santon got injured, which is further indicative of his status as back-up.

        Hope that helped.

Think I've decided to go with the cheap rotating defence. Obviously can't expect too much from a 4.5m defender but I think with the new bonus system, mids will be pretty prime this year.

    Leaves me with this;

    DDG / 4m

    van A / Chester / Cameron / Naylor / Hutton

    Sanchez / Rambo / Mata / Eriksen / Siggy

    Costa / Rooney / Kane

It's pretty standard but wondered if you guys felt there was any scope to upgrade the defence a bit? Who you'd bump out & why?

The obvious would be Kane -> Zamora for 0.5m but not great 5m defensive options either (plus Kane has looked pretty decent pre-season, Soldado may be off and Ponch clearly has no concerns playing young British players if they're up to the challenge).

    Thanks

    @Spencer

if cameron is nailed on then think your defence is fine. means you can play luis ward cameron every week and bring in Col and Wisdom with easy home fix. I am doing something similar myself.

I like the Sturridge punt and wish I could do it myself but I opted for Sterling as a route into LFC attack as Sturridge is just too expensive.

Not mad on the De Jong pick, and as mentioned no Arsenal attack coverage could be costly

Would you consider Costa to Dzeko/Giroud then you can do De Jong to Fab?

Honest opinion Spencer? I don't like it much. Wisdom I think I'm right in saying, is not nailed on. The same could be said for Cameron although I might have that wrong. Double Newcastle defence/keeper isn't great. So IMO the defence is weak.
De Jong is a punt and possibly not ready gw1 and with only one big heavy hitter in midfield that department is average at best. This all stems from your quality attack. There's too much cash tied up there. Sturridge isn't greet value IMO and with Liverpool's tricky start I see no reason to start with him. Dzeko would free up funds to improve elsewhere.
Lol, I've totally harshed you there. Just my opinion though, which let's face it, means bugger all. 😀

I think the defence definitely needs working on, but with so many mid-value midfielders I'm not sure if any more big hitters are necessary.

Bit light on defence? Bojan / 4.5m mid rotation no good? Any suggestions?

    De Gea, 4.0
Terry, Chester, Ferdinand, Van Aanholt, Wisdom
    Sanchez, Hazard, Mata, Siggy, 4.5
    Rooney, Costa, Bojan

I like this team, similar to mine below. I like the ferdinand pick and had him in my draught for a while, but don't want to have to use a transfer when he inevitably gets crocked - maybe consider Simpson?

Best FF team ever? Please RMT guys thanks in advance!!!

    Foster (Krul)

    Debuchy F.Luis Shaw (Upson) (Bruce)

    Hazard Mata Sanchez S.Davis (Albrighton)

    Rooney Bojan

Costa What do you all think? I got S.Davis in because he is OOP, he's playing up front and Southampton have some excellent fixtures. Thanks!!!!

Davis, Albrighton and Bojan is probably too much. Really you should aim to only have one budget attacking player.

    DDG/4.0
    Cahill/Debuchy/Coloccini/N.Taylor/PvA
    Hazard/Sanchez/Eriksen/Snodgrass/Sigurdsson
    Rooney/Dzeko/Bojan

Should i find a way to fit Clyne into my team?

    Thank guys

      Like the PVA abbreviation 🙂

Team looks really solid, decent defence without compromising your attack too much. Lots of proven performers with Bojan as the main punt. Good team I think. Probably no need to fit Clyne in.

I'v looked at this for ages now, it seems a bit template but I'm reasonably settled on it. A couple of helpful comments would be welcome at this point. cheers

    Bego - Elliot

    Evans - Caulker - Ward - Figueroa - Duff

    Mata - Sanchez - Hazard - A. Johnson - Wanyama

    Rooney - Bojan - Costs

I quite like the A Johnson punt, solid pick and flying under the radar.

Your defence seems solid in terms of nailed on-ness which is a rarity. Evans and Ward should be mainstays in the starting lineup I think.

Personally I'm not a fan of Wanyama and Bojan, both are a bit punty for my liking. Hazard -> Sterling could free up much needed funds.

cheers mate. I was looking at sterling earlier but finding it difficult to go without the 3 big mids. If there is some other mid at 4.5 that I was sure would play I would swap. Bojan is a bit punty but his inclusion facilitates the shap of the team. Food for thought - cheers

    @ Spencer

Just got a few thoughts on your team below

    Krul – Foster
    Luis – Coloccini – Wisdom – Ward – Cameron
Mata – Sigurdsson – Eriksen – de Jong – Albrighton
    Rooney – Costa – Sturridge

Firstly I think its really dangerous to back WBA and Newcastle defence, doubling up just compounds the risk, neither side is particularly tight. Also Cameron is far from nailed on, might even be sold on, I'd expect Bardsley to be the starting RB sooner rather than later. Luis is a risk as well but of course it is very difficult to predict the Chelsea defence. So that leaves Ward as the only solid defender.

To fix that I'd go for a Sunderland defender, PVA is very popular and Sunderland have looked good defensively of late. N Taylor is another option in the Swansea backline and of course there is Chester with his solid early fixtures. At this stage I'd probably steer clear of 4m options until we know more.

In attack I think De Jong is quite risky being a new player to the premier league and being part of an unsettled Newcastle side. I understand he is currently injured but I'm uncertain if that will impact him for GW1.

Sturridge is also a risk as he is a serious injury hazard. I think better value can be found in Sterling who is 3m cheaper and looking electric in pre-season. The cash saved there could be invaluable.

If Cameron isn't nailed why not try Simpson. QPR and Palace rotate ok (I think)

Midfield looks light and I would swap sturridge to a cheaper forward to free up funds for fabs/haz/silva/sanchez

Simpson won't be playing soon with Isla there.

      Thanks Ryan.

What front three would you go with?

I'd consider someone in the 9m range or less.

Dzeko, Jovetic, Pelle, Giroud. All decent options I think.

A City attacker might be worth having.

I see you have no Arsenal or Southampton attack as well, there you go 🙂
