With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Nothing in the bank.

He is aware that at the back he is relying heavily on clean sheets at Newcastle and West Brom. Any advice on improving his back-line would be appreciated. Also, is he right to opt for the expensive Daniel Sturridge? Will a lack of Arsenal cover come back to bite him?

    Upgrade Barry to Siggy by downgrading one of the big 3 defenders back there, probably Debuchy. Upson to Moore, Dummett to Bartley, then Debuchy to Wilson.
    
    Should make it more solid.

any nailed on defenders for 4m..need 2 fill up d extra 2 dfndr spots...i know its hard 2 tell...........but thats d reason i m asking you!!!!!.....have upson n dummett now...i also have a 5th mf in barry....shld i downgrade him wid a 4.5m one n buy a 4.5m dfndr instead.

Hey guys, done a lil tinkering today. RMT please?

DDG - Given
Terry - Caulker - PVA - Duff - Coloccini
Mata - Fabregas - Ramsey - Sterling - Siggy
Rooney - Dzeko - Bojan

Siggy and Bojan to rotate weekly. Any better alternative 4M defenders to Duff? considering downgrading caulker to rio just for the extra 0.5M...

Thoughts?

  Maybe Caulker to Ferdinand, which gives you the money to upgrade Duff to N.Taylor. Rest of the team looks good man, template but good 🙂

  Minor point but consider a different 4m keeper to Given. Won't get a look in at Villa and might even be sold into a lower division. Gilks apparently has the best chance of getting some game time.

  Chelsea DEF is killing me... The safest option would probably be Courtois but spending 10 mil on 2 goalies is harsh.

    Yeah, I'm not starting with any Chelsea defence, just makes the rest of the defence look fragile.
    
    Cahill seems the best way in, but 6.5 is so expensive for a defender when there are a lot of better mid-priced options.

Ok so I updated my team it looks like this:

Ramsey, Henderson (Puncheon), Sterling, Shelvey

I don't know what to do after hahaha should I offload my defense?

  Yes you should. If that's Luke Shaw on your bench, then you really need to fix things up. Rule of thumb is one or two premiums, and early on your best bet is Chelsea. Go with Cahill instead of Coleman, then look at some 5m defenders (Caulker, Ward, Pieters, N.Taylor, PvA, etc.), then bring them in instead of Baines, Lovren and Vlaar. This will give you enough money to upgrade Puncheon and Henderson to Eriksen and Silva/Fabregas. Then use the last 1m to upgrade Krul to De Gea.

Please RMT and tell me what you would do to strengthen my defence. Would you sacrifice De Jong and if so for who? And what about the defence - Cahill in and for who?

  De Jong to Davis means you can make a stronger defence, but you seem pretty content with the Siggy/Bojan rotation. Bavies not nailed on, so monitor that. Rest looks good. 8/10 🙂

  Looks decent. Downgrading De Jong to Henderson or Puncheon gives you 1.0 extra. I would upgrade Simpson to Caulker replace Davies by Ward, you need a Palace defender.

I decided my defence of these was too risky:

So I changed it to this:

Costa Rooney Jovetic

Looking good? Should I play Siggy week in, week out, downgrade to Albrighton/Wanyama and upgrade Davies & Chambers?

I was kinda thinking Chambers might be worth keeping in case he adapts quickly into a DM role? I saw him a lot on tv last year and he is class. Davies I'm worried may not start the season, although I'm sure he'll finish it.

  Except for your goalies, a very strong side if you make some minor changes in DEF.
  Double Palace is worth it, but I don't think that Chambers will last more than 3 games. Great potential but AW will bring him slow. Remember that The Ox can also play on that spot.

  Great team! Monitor Luis, will he be a weekly starter? At some point you'll need the replace the cheapies in DEF. They probably start the first games until new signings come in. Atm the only nailed on 4.0's are Hutton and Moore. Having so many expensive players in your squad means making sacrifices.

hi FFS,

i'm having a dilemma. on paper, my back-line looks a little expensive. but if i downgrade one, i free up only 1m to upgrade wanyama. unfortunately 5.5 doesn't get you much in the midfield. should i downgrade say debuchy to a 4.5 and upgrade wanyama? or should i stick with what i have?

Thinking maybe Vertonghen over Luis with better security and also looking at best 4.5 rotation.
Also thinking maybe downgrading Jovetic to Bojan etc. and upgrading Albrighton and then if needed downgrading Sanchez.

  Not a fan of Jovetic since Aguero and Dzeko are better than him. Watch out with Luiz rotation since Azpi played really well last season. Ivanovic is also could be a rotation risk since Azpi was originally a right back as well.

      Very risky since he isn't proven in FPL compare to Aguero and Dzeko and also given with tough fixtures as well. But if you like playing risky then why not.

  I think Wanyama is in there too. Albrighton is best bet IMO, but there's an injury scare from yesterday.

    They will both start, it should be a consistent 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 (4 at the back is more likely now we actually have midfield options. Either way they are both guaranteed starters for now but I wouldn't pick Long. On thursday he was absolutely TERRIBLE. He missed 3 chances from inside the 6 yard box and just didn't look sharp. Sagbo was fantastic and could steal a start if Long doesn't improve within 3-4 weeks. Also Aluko looks good but I would be surprised if he started regularly at all.
    Basically, early on they are both a safe bet to start (although I still wouldn't pick them) but if after 3 weeks ish, Long still can't score then that could change. I would go with Nugent despite tough fixtures ahead of any Hull striker.

      Thx for the update. How does Brady look? You think he's gonna be a regular starter with Ince and Snodgrass in the team? If he has no fitness issues I think he's a steal for 5.0

        I really rate him and Brucey seems to like him to but he seems a bit risky. There should be quite a lot of rotation up top now we actually have options. Personally I think we will play 4 at the back which will leave a space on the left for Brady (Elmo at right back, Snoddy at RM and Ince possibly on the left or on the bench) but even then, Aluko could take the space and Ince has a decent chance.
        If we end up playing 3 (or 5) at the back then I think Brady will be at left wing back as he was on Thursday. If this is the case he will be quite defensive as he is a full back and whilst he will get the odd assist, it won't be enough to justify a spot in your team.
        Basically, don't put him in ATM because he is not a guaranteed starter. If he does force his way in consistently, then he could be a great buy assuming he is in an attacking role (not at wing back.)
