With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Nothing in the bank.

He is aware that at the back he is relying heavily on clean sheets at Newcastle and West Brom. Any advice on improving his back-line would be appreciated. Also, is he right to opt for the expensive Daniel Sturridge? Will a lack of Arsenal cover come back to bite him?

So this is where I am to date:

I'm actually a lot happier with this than I thought I would be. I know it's not balanced and I have no city cover. I know Everton have a tough start. I know Henderson is Henderson. But I look at it and don't have the compulsion to change it.

  Maybe start with a chelsea defender and change to Baines once their fixtures ease up? That being said everton do have a tendency to pull off a CS no matter who they're against!

    I mostly have him as makeshift mid. Considering his set piece duties and Lukaku's air dominance, I'm almost playing 253.
    
    If I were to downgrade I'd get Vlaar, Ward and Debuchy but I'm fairly comfortable with a cheap defence until the first wild card. See which teams are looking stronger.

  I like it. I'm not sure how I feel about Lamela/Eriksen after todays performance and Bdavies not starting is a scare. Bartley is a bit crap and Swansea looked awful. But that's about it.

Hi guys,

First time posting.

As you can imagine, after hundreds of transfers I'm nearly happy with my team. Can you RMT please.

Krul, Elliot

Cahill, Jones, Huth (Wisdom, Hutton)

Hoilett, mata, Ramsey, yaya, (siggy)

Rooney, Costa, bojan

Boiler will start instead of siggy for GW1.
The only thing I am unsure is the whether I have jovetic/dzeko instead of Costa meaning I can have fabregas for siggy. OR I have the team displayed above.

Any feedback is appreciated!

  I would probably swap Yaya (for now) and Hoilett, for Eriksen/Lamela and Fabregas/Ramsey. If you dont have the 1M to cover the difference then i would do Eriksen/Lamela and Tadic/De Jong. That's just me though...

  However I would look into downgrading a keeper to give you an extra 0.5M. And using it to upgrade eriksen to mata. Then changing Henderson to siggy.
  
  Maybe look at other benchable options over wanyama?

    Dzeko worries me because he always starts the season shit and then gets good. Think Hendo may have a good year as he will venture forward more with Gerrard sitting deeper. Don't fancy Mata, he p**sed me off last year.

  +1 for dropping Henderson and picking up siggy. He will get more playing time with the move to swansea and i believe he will play "in the hole" and be a major goal threat. Then, depending on what formation you are running, swapping sanchez and wanyama for Tadic and De Jong. Or if you have funds left go with Fabregas/Ramsey (since you dont like Mata), and De Jong. I think of you have only 2 really solid strikers, then you need 5 strong mids, or 4 mids and 3 strong strikers. Just my thoughts...

      I wanted Sagna too, but with the amount of City defenders, who knows who will play other than zabaleta and Kompany. The other 2 back slots are a guess at best. Clichy, Sagna, Demichelis, Kolorav, etc. Who knows?

  Not so sure on the defence. Personally I'm thinking atleast one 'premium' defender in there somewhere. Liking the nasri punt but I'm not sure a nasri/dzeko double up is necessary with citys first 5 fixtures

    Previous FPL winners tend to start off light. It allows bandwagons to be transferred in easy. Funds will naturally arise that way so you invest in the back then. It's only temp, it should hold.

  Nice team and a bit different to template too. If anything you already have a lot invested in defence. Since you have dzeko already, maybe nasri to fabregas. Henderson to Siggy also an option if you want to go back towards being more template

    Well, trying to figure this out. If it were me, i would drop Long, Jovetic, Baines, and Coutinho. Swap for Rooney, 5.5M Striker (Bojan or Nugent), Tadic/De Jong, and 5-5.5M defender (Lovren?). Just my thoughts...

    I see what you're saying. I really like mids for points scoring though and feel a lot of them this year have the potential to hit 200 points and with what I have, I have the leeway to bring most of them in. Maybe I can do debuchy to 4.5mil, one of Cahill/terry to 4.5mil and upgrade Murray to 8.5 (dzeko,ade)?

  nothing wrong with this team really, one of the better i've seen. 🙂 i'd wait til after GWs 2 and 3 before bringing in sturridge. Siggy is by far the best choice in that bracket. I'm generally a fan of a cheap defense but your team looks pretty well balanced to me.

  Mirallas and lukaku might not start the season and Everton generally have tough fixtures anyway. I would switch one of them out if not both. Felipe luis may not start initially so be wary of that. RMT above (rather than the reply fail to my RMT haha)

my first RMT of the season. still not 100% sure on some of these.

Begovic | Gilks
Terry | Hangeland | Chester | Coloccini | Van Aanholt
Mata | Sanchez | Eriksen | Tadic | Wanyama
Rooney | Costa | Bojan

considering the alternative of downgrading terry to rio and upgrading eriksen to hazard, but i don't really trust hazard to hit the ground running this season, and clean sheets+headed goals from set pieces seems more reliable in a jose team than hazard's intermittent flat-track bullying and potential lack of full fitness early on.

any issues with the defense?

i know a lot of people are gonna distrust that bojan+tadic combination, but the former's form+fixtures+price and the latter's set piece dominance have sold me over any combo involving siggy for example. anyone care to dissuade me?

still considering albrighton over wanyama, but waiting on the injury news.

i intend to bring in sturridge for GW4, and i'll start looking more seriously at city coverage after their nasty fixtures are over - i'm not necessarily expecting them to be 'fixture proof' so early in the season, and coupled with the rotation questions it's just too risky for me right now.

thoughts please? 🙂

      there aren't really any decent ones tbh. wanyama actually scored quite a few goals in the scottish league i believe, he has the potential for a few extra points, but if albrighton's fit and playing regularly i'd have him all day long.

        Celtic fan here, I think he'll come good for saints this year. He's a good shout for 4.5 mid. He always produced in europe for us so proves he has done it at a higher level than SPL

    if, say, we had a nailed on sergio aguero or a cheaper yaya toure, i'd be right on that bandwagon. as it stands though, i dunno... are either dzeko or jovetic guaranteed to play in all the first 3 games? and if i wanted to upgrade, say, tadic to nasri/silva, who do i downgrade? i'm not sure i can find a combo that's worth the risk... i reeeeeeally don't want to downgrade terry to utd defenders; as a utd fan who's watched all the pre-season games, that defense is an absolute disaster as things stand - phil jones is gonna gift a goal per game all by himself lol.

        i have a gut feeling sanchez is gonna be an absolute monster, potentially the highest scoring midfielder of the season even (class act, should combine perfectly with ozil, will get games up front, and i generally expect arsenal to have an even better season going forward than usual), but i did have ramsey for a while when i first started fiddling with my team. i just worry over whether ramsey can replicate that kind of form from deep, it seemed almost miraculous last season, although he's always had tons of talent. i also worry about his constant injury problems. o.O
        
        aguero is incredible, he could easily get suarez kinds of numbers if he had a full season. that's always the question with him though.
        
        i like to think van gaal's gonna make utd more solid over time, but we certainly look very shaky right now. jones gave away a silly penalty against liverpool, should've conceded another through a rash herrera tackle, liverpool got through on goal again after jones did a suicidal pass across his box, and coutinho got a golden chance from the edge of the box after jones flew into a tackle he had no chance of winning.
        
        that was utd's most recent friendly, and their first against a team that really pressed them, as many in the premier league will do. utd managed to win that game due to some lethal countering, but they didn't look very impressive at all - it was reminiscent of performances two seasons ago when they kept playing badly and conceding goals but winning games anyway.

  Defense is cheap but as you mentioned you like that and all your starters will be playing.
  
  I like the Eriksen/Tadic combo.
  
  I like you am wanting Sturridge, but I'm not sure if I need him at the start, feel like Costa is going to be good to go from the start.

    thanks for the feedback (same goes to everyone else!) 🙂 yeah, i really rate sturridge and i think he'll approach 200 again this season despite suarez leaving, but i'm still not convinced he'll outscore costa over the first 3 games.

  I also had planned on getting sturridge but Liverpool are capable of scoring against anyone and Sterling gets better everytime I see him. He could be the best coverage option from the start for them

  like i mentioned above, i think utd's defense is cheap for a reason (i.e. they are going to be utter bollocks), so i'd actually probably downgrade evans and upgrade another defender. but maybe that's just my pessimism as a utd fan talking. :p terry seems like a guaranteed points scorer to me, and i'm not sure if the extra money would be worth losing him for.

    I'm willing to gamble on United defence given their initial fixtures. But Terry on the other hand, i'm willing to swap him out, i'm thinking of going for Courtois in goal and picking up a couple of £4.5m defenders.
    
    Wisdom's gametime looks good for the first few weeks, but when Gamboa comes in it'll be in question. Just have to hope he performs well initially.

        yeah, the reason i ended up dropping hazard is i started thinking oh god this season's just gonna be 38 chelsea 1-0s :p
        
        also he only just started getting proper gametime pre-season and has always been a bit inconsistent anyway.
        
        costa, on the other hand, i'm sticking with early on. those two starting fixtures are too juicy to resist.

  El Ahmadi is at 4.5m if you like him, and you can upgrade Pieters to one of the big teams' defenders. I went for Filipe Luis for example.

  If you're rotating your GKs are not bad, still I'd get someone else for Foster.
  
  Defence is questionable with Marriapa a good gamble, still needs at least one or two frontrunners' defenders I think.
  
  NDJ is a preferable long term move, but I'd think it's early for now. Barkley is at 7.0 with the same price but you already have a strong midfield so NDJ can stay for future use.
  
  Bojan is a mystery, and Jovetic is good use in short term. Not bad striking force at all.

  Do change Courtois with DDG or Cech. Immediately. Gilks is a proper choice considering you won't rotate.
  
  I like your defence, but you can look at other 4.0 options to replace Hutton as Aston Villa's defence is not reliable.
  
  Excellent midfield, Jovetic is good in short term. You might want to replace Barnes with Zamora at the same price.

  You can go Cahill or Luis for Terry, definitely downgrade Tadic for someone cheaper i.e. Barkley or Henderson. DDG and Siggy are solid choices, also your attacking three is very well selected.

The differences are I downgraded Sanchez to Ramsey and used the money to get Bojan for Wood ,DDG/Gilks and Debuchy for Jones (Since i already have a MUN defender)

  I would be cautious on young...... Not going to start every week. Him and shaw will rotate or shaw will have priority in my eyes once he's fit. Schurle won't start either in my eyes after a long World Cup , little risky maybe. I would also look into an alternative starter to wisdom as he is also a risk. Apart from that I think it's looking strong

Draft number 10000000...I had Begovic/Cahill/Austin before instead of Mannone/Huth/Dzeko, but then decided I think it's better to spend in attack first then upgrade the defence when team value rises.. (hopefully). - really hate not owning a chelsea defender though but I'm not keen on Austin tbh.

  If you are rotating your keepers your duo doesn't look bad. If not, get rid of Krul for a bigger one. That means you need to save money of course.
  
  Not sure about Baines, Terry isn't the best option in Chelsea but a good one. I like your choice of Ward.
  
  Hazard might be a rocket or an expensive failure, kinda risky for my taste but keep him. Young is the one I'm having real doubts, but he's a cheap option with Albrighton out. Shelvey or El Ahmadi maybe?
  
  Attacking field is proper good, no problems on that end. Hope Bojan lives up to the hype he's creating.

    Thanks . After the way Swansea played today I'm avoiding Siggy and Shelvey. That's also part of the reason for Young. He'll have a field day against our defence. Will look to transfer him out after that probably.
