With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is Spencer.

Krul – Foster
Luis – Coloccini – Wisdom – Ward – Cameron
Mata – Sigurdsson – Eriksen – de Jong – Albrighton
Rooney – Costa – Sturridge

Nothing in the bank.

He is aware that at the back he is relying heavily on clean sheets at Newcastle and West Brom. Any advice on improving his back-line would be appreciated. Also, is he right to opt for the expensive Daniel Sturridge? Will a lack of Arsenal cover come back to bite him?

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

I think I finally got it! (for now)
    Begovic - Gilks
    Cahill - Wilson - Oshea - Bruce - Bartley
    Yaya - Hazard - Ramsey - Lamela - Young
    Rooney - Bony - Jutkiewicz

    Any improvements?

Bruce isn't a guaranteed start but his price tag is tempting. Maybe put in Wisdom instead. Bartley is a good find. I'd recommend Cameron or Coloccini if you want some variety among O'Shea.

Yaya is a no-no with both his questionable form and high price. Downgrade him to Erikson (8), Siggy (6), Henderson (6) or Barkley (7) to upgrade Young.

Your attackers look good. I'm also on board for Jutkiewicz, wonder who else thinks he can deliver. Would appreciate comments on Jutky.

Don't like Nasri myself, but I'm guessing you take him as a punt (I'd prefer silva though).
Not sure about hutton either (don't trust the villa defense). I Like the rest of the team though, maybe went a bit overboard with your mid price punts but that can turn out OK.

Check on Albrighton's fitness and Cameron could lose his place. Seems quite a lot of moolah in defence if you're only playing 3 at the back?

You might wanna pick a 4.0 GK to improve on some ends. Kos and Lovren are not that safe bets and neither is Shaw. Want to go for some other Arsenal/Chelsea/ManU defenders within reach of your budget.

      1. Cameron is not exactly nailed on but looks better than those two. Vlaar was solid in WC but Aston Villa defence is not to be trusted. Bruce is not nailed on too but Cameron is safer.

      2. Filipe Luis, as he looks to get more minutes in Chelsea's defensive shuffle.

      3. Campbell from Crystal Palace at 4.5m, Naismith at 5.0m for a short term if Lukaku's gonna miss time and Jutkiewicz at 5.0m.

Hi everyone. I'm thinking about starting off with 2m in the bank so that I can rotate in van Persie, Aguero, Sanchez etc. later on without having to lose points. If this is a terrible idea, please tell me! Also, RMT if you would be so kind.

    de Gea/Elliot
    Davies/Ward/Coloccini/O'Shea/Hutton
    Hazard/Mata/Eriksen/Sigurdsson/Traore

With Bony replacing Sturridge in GW2. I just don't fancy Rooney. Costa's first two games look easier and van Persie should hopefully be back by GW3.

      Nice GK lineup.

Guess you saved your 2 millons in defence, but good choices nonetheless. Consider El Ahmadi for Traore, as Albrighton is out for now.

Sturridge for first week should be good, and after that you'll have the money to upgrade some players, possibly in defence.

Giroud, Dzeko, Jovetic, Bony, Pelle, Lukaku (injury permitting), and a vast array of 6m options.

I think any of these would be better value than Sturridge who I believe will struggle without Suarez in the side. I think Sterling is much better value at Liverpool for 8.5 and I'd even suggest he will outscore Sturridge this season.

S Taylor is also a massive risk, I don't think he will start many games at all, he isn't first choice

Last season I focused on getting the best big-hitting-defence from the outset - it failed. The season before that, I tried with 3 big hitter strikers - that failed too. This season, with all the awesome midfield options available, I'm going to go all out... well as much as possible without destroying my team.

Last season I also focused too much on rotating GK and outfield players too, so I always had a pretty decent bench. Nearly every week, I chose the wrong GK (rotating Begovic and Mannone for most of it) and quite often I chose the wrong subs (had 20+ points on my bench quite regularly). So this season, I'm not bothering with rotating subs. 4.0-4.5 subs who potentially aren't even starters for their teams, a 4.0 GK who won't play and just hope that my starting XI stay fit.

Nearly every season I also gamble with a handful of new signings, usually ones who are good preseason. Last year, I tried Anelka, Soldado, Lamela and more... Never again will I try new players until they prove themselves worthy for my squad.

I'm nearly happy with my team now - just the GK really and fine tuning the cheap players as more information becomes available. Any feedback/suggestions on my team (or my methods) greatly appreciated.

    Green
    Evans - Cahill - Huth
    Yaya - Hazard - Ramsey - Mata - Henderson
    Rooney - Jelavic

    Murphy - Bartley - Zamora - Duff

    Thanks!

I like your method, not everyone is taking the safety first approach so I'd even suggest its different and reliable.

Below I still have a few criticisms however

Green - not sure I'd want to rely so heavily on QPR defence, relegation candidates for sure

Huth - Not nailed on, Wilson has already played a lot at CB in pre-season

Cahill - Hasn't played as much pre-season minutes as I would like (compared to other Chelsea defenders), certainly not as nailed on as some people have been saying.

Yaya - Was great value last year and outperformed his stats, much more expensive this season, will need to do just as well as last season to justify the cost, big ask.

Henderson - I'm not convinced he will be this seasons Ramsey, some say he will be but he is already in his prime and I wouldn't expect him to improve much on last year.

Jelavic/Bartley/Zamora/Duff - None of these guys are nailed on, they face competition from new signings and possible new signings. Not exactly a safety first approach to select these guys.

Hey Ryan, thanks for your helpful reply, this new RMT section is a good idea!

The areas you pointed out are my main concerns too..

Green - I have gone back and forwards between nearly all of the 4.5 keepers, mostly Krul and Mannone but still not sure yet.

Huth - I thought he was nailed on? But I also thought Cameron was nailed on... Perhaps I'll wait and see what happens here... This spot has been an Arsenal player mostly but wanted some stoke coverage.

Cahill - I need Chelsea coverage in defence, it's so hard knowing who is going to be nailed on - Terry?

Yaya - He will get his chance with me I think, unless I drop him to Silva and upgrade Henderson to Sterling..

Henderson - I like him as a player, played all season barring suspension, plus Rodgers wants to give him more attacking freedom I think? Like I said above, could to Toure+Hendo > Silva+Sterling?

Jelavic - I thought he might be worth a shout at 6.0 I rate him more than Long, he is on Penalties yes? Not sure what other 6.0-ers to test out really..

The subs I'm not too concerned about yet, I will fine-tune these as we learn more about line-ups.. I just want players who might get the odd minute..

        Cheers bro!

GKer - Personally I think Begovic and a 4m might be better than two 4.5's. Foster and Krul has been touted as a good pair as well

Stoke coverage - The only nailed on players are ShawX and Begovic, both are worth getting

Chelsea defence - Really difficult one this, I've decided to back Ivanovic, he's played the most minutes in pre-seson out of all the defenders and he's an easy swap to Baines from GW8. Its a gut call really but just make sure the rest of your defence is solid.

Yaya - He's proven us all wrong before, he could do so again. If you're prepared to stump up the cash back yourself.

Hendo - I know Rodgers wants to build him up as a box to box midfielder, its just a matter of whether he is capable. I have my doubts but will keep an eye on him. I still think Sterling is the one to get however. In your situation I think Silva + Sterling is the way to go

Jelavic - Could be ok if they stick with a 442 but I think they have been trying one up front occasionally in pre-season with new signing Snodgrass playing as a #10. Check out the pre-season tab anyway, worth doing some research here

I'm sceptical. Personally I'm avoiding, even Stoke fans think he will be rotated. Been looking great in pre-season though so I'd expect him to start the early weeks. However he is unproven in the PL, seems like a potentially dodgy bandwagon. I might be wrong though so who knows.

Defence is ok, most of them will 'probably' start. Slight question marks about Azpi, Wisdom & Hutton.

Valencia and Hoilett should be sold, neither are nailed on and neither look like good fantasy prospects.

Ade is under threat from Soldado

Sturridge is an injury waiting to happen, Sterling better value if you're after a Liverpool attacker.

      Yes Chester can start.

Luis - Rotation risk especially early on as he seeks to establish himself in the side

Davies - Rotation risk with Rose likely to get plenty of starts

Chambers - As soon as Mertesacker is back expect Chambers to be on the bench

Mariappa - Far from nailed on, young Williams getting plenty of game time in pre-season

De Jong - Personally don't think he represents value, Newcastle are a bit shambolic with so many new signings, might be best to see how he adjusts to the premier league first.

Siggy - Been playing wide on the wing where he isn't effective, might be an option once Bony is sold and then Siggy will shift to the #10 role

Bojan - Not proven in the premier league but his pre-season form is good and might be worth a punt.

I'm not too worried about Davies being rotated, Pochettino showed what he thought of the cups last year so I'd expect him to play weakened sides in Europe and his best team in the league (and Davies looks a much better player than Rose). Otherwise agree with the post above although I'd stick with Sigurdsson.

Rose played well in todays friendly against schalke and is expected to start the first leaguegame. Big chance spurs will start with walker, dier (looks great), kaboul (verthongen hasnt played any friendlies yet) and rose on the left side

I don't trust WBA defence so having 3 of them is definitely too much. I'm not a fan of Bojan or Young but one of them will be on your bench every week so it's not too bad. I'd downgrade Baines and upgrade a goalkeeper and Bojan/Young.

Luis - Rotation risk especially early on as he seeks to establish himself in the side

Wisdom - Will start the early weeks but keep an eye on Gamboa, he will probably start at RB unless rumours of him playing on the wing become true.

Arnautovic - Might not be nailed on, didn't start the last pre-season game, concerning.

Budget mid - I think Davis is the best option personally, bit of a lottery though.

Lukaku - I think he is currently injured, keep an eye on the team news though and whether he will be right for GW1

Double Chelsea defence - Far too risky IMO, There are 5 defenders fighting for 4 spots and you've just doubled your chances of getting one wrong. Better to back the one defender you are CERTAIN will start EVERY game.

Bardley - Likely to be replaced by a new signing. An early use of a transfer is guaranteed. Amat also competing for the spot in the mean time.

I don't mind your tactic of playing 2 of Siggy, AJ and Bojan every week. If they rotate well it could work.

Probably a good thing, just deal with Bartley

AJ was pretty useless last season apart from a little purple patch. I'd owned him for too long. Gets taken off after 60 mins. I'd just play digit who was always good away and downgrade aj.

Anyone consider Odemwingie? He is classified as a midfielder but is usually far forward or an actual striker position. Only 6.5M, but could be a decent out of position player. Any thoughts?

He finished last season strong and had a decent WC...

Not for me. He'd need to be a bit cheaper for me to consider him. I'm not even sure he is nailed on, getting old as well.
