Siem de Jong is available for Newcastle’s trip to Aston Villa. Antonio Valencia and Jonny Evans join Robin van Persie in returning to full training for United. Mikel Arteta is ruled out of Arsenal’s trip to Everton. Marc Albrighton could return for Leicester’s clash with Chelsea at the Bridge, whilst Palace and West Ham have doubts in defence as the pair prepare to square up at Selhurst Park.

Newcastle have been boosted by the return of Siem de Jong from injury, with Alan Pardew confirming that the summer signing will be in the squad to face Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Cheick Tiote is will miss out once more with a hamstring injury, though Pardew has revealed that the midfielder has started running outside, as he works towards taking part in full training.

Manchester United could welcome back Antonio Valencia for the trip to Wearside, with the winger having returned to training this week. Reports confirm both Jonny Evans and Robin van Persie were also back in full training yesterday.

Arsene Wenger has conceded that Mikel Arteta will miss the weekend clash with ex-club Everton, after the midfielder sprained his ankle in midweek. Wenger also suggested that he “will check” whether the German contingent of Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski are available for selection ahead of the trip to Goodison Park.

James Tomkins has added to Sam Allardyce’s concerns at the back, with the central defender a doubt to face Crystal Palace after missing the opener due to injury.

Crystal Palace’s caretaker boss Keith Millen could be without Scott Dann for the weekend, with the defender rated as having an outside chance to face West Ham. Dann will undergo further assessment today, though the Eagles boss could welcome back Adrian Mariappa to the squad after injury. Jonny Williams is fit again and available for selection, whilst Jerome Thomas could also be in contention to feature.

Nigel Pearson is hopeful that Jamie Vardy and Marc Albrighton will be in the squad to face Chelsea, with the pair taking part in full training during the week. However midfielders Danny Drinkwater and Matty James look set to miss the trip to Stamford Bridge through injury, though Pearson suggests the duo “aren’t far away” from a return.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman has revealed that Gaston Ramirez will miss the weekend visit of West Brom with a groin injury. Koeman will also assess the fitness of new defender Florin Gardos before deciding whether or not to include him in the squad to face the Baggies – the centre-half missed out last weekend due to a hamstring problem.

West Brom boss Alan Irvine has confirmed every player aside from Joleon Lescott finished full training yesterday, with the likes of Gareth McAuley and James Morrison returning to action after missing the home draw against Sunderland last time around.

To be fair to him, we didn't get a proper look against Liverpool. The service to him wasn't great, and he ha an anonymous first half.

Second half though, he showed plenty of signs that he'll succeed against weaker defences. Looks like he'll nick an assist or two too - he seems to like chesting it down in the box...

The hit was for bringing in siggy and cabella for mata and marney

Don't waste the wild card, its far too early in the game to panic. Worst case scenario is you drop a few points. Best case scenario is you have a differential and gain a few. Do option A if you must but don't WC.

    THE PROBLEM

Aassuming that Arsenal are set to offer PSG £32M and Giroud for Cavani - would you be getting rid of Giroud before the weekend?

    THE TEAM

This is how I will line-up at the moment:

    Krul
    Cahill | Chambers | Chester
    Hazard | Ramsey | Eriksen | Sigurdsson
    Rooney | Costa | Giroud

    Coloccini | Marney | Gamboa | Elliot

WHAT THIS WOULD MEAN FOR ME

As Chambers may not get time, that means that Giroud not starting would give me Marney which is less than ideal.

    PROPOSAL

I was possibly going to save my transfer, with a view to doing Eriksen/Giroud --> Aguero/JWP next week. I am not prepared to make that move this week, until I have evaluated Aguero/Eriksen further.

However, an interim move for Bony is a distinct possibility if Giroud doesn't look like starting.

    THOUGHTS?

If he thinks the deal with PSG is likely, then he won't want to risk him getting a broken leg etc.

Can only hope aguero isn't, and jovetic plays and scores a hattrick to get the starting spot.

I'm expecting Jovetic to get another chance. Aguero might come on a bit earlier in the second half though. Jovetic needs to show what he can do.

Blackett was fantastic last weekend, but made no tackles, so Rojo could come in for smalling to bolster the tackling department.

hmmmmmmmm. I like JWP. Great fixtures, great set pieces, seems to be playing in an advanced midfield role, no europa league, played the full 90 against liverpool. Ince is also a good pick though.

I like JWP too, and he's 0.5m cheaper. I'm just a little worried about Ramirez/Long affecting his game time over the coming weeks.

Cheers. The double Southampton attack is the only thing I'm not comfortable with, but I figure with their fixtures coming up its worth a shot. Keeping an eye on Tadic/Pellè - it's likely the non-performer (if any) will be transferred out.

Be even nicer if that didn't have to happen and triple Saints became a staple FPL move all of a sudden though. 😉
