After assessing those teams with strong schedules over the next four to six Gameweeks, we now cast an eye over those whose prospects look less promising. Chelsea and Spurs face testing times in their quests to maintain their 100% records, whilst Villa’s upcoming schedule may well give Paul Lambert little to smile about.

ASTON VILLA

“involvement

Paul Lambert’s men will be all the more fervent to add to their opening day victory over Stoke this weekend against Hull City, with the fixture list looking decidedly bleak beyond Sunday’s encounter. A remarkable quintet of matches sees the Midlands outfit face last season’s top five in consecutive Gameweeks, with home showdowns against Arsenal and Man City on either side of trips to Liverpool and Chelsea, before a visit to Everton rounds things off.

It’s hard to see any joyful days ahead for Villa in the coming weeks, then. Clean sheets in both their opening fixtures have seen Ron Vlaar and Alan Hutton attract plenty of attention and consequently increase in price, though the chances of either of the defenders continuing to reward their owners looks slim – the former’s considerable 27% ownership may well dwindle in the short-term, particularly if he fails to recover from a knee problem which makes him doubtful for tonight’s cup clash with Orient.

EVERTON

“involvement
A 2-2 draw in both opening fixtures suggests that the Toffees’ high pressing tactics have been exposed by an overall lack of match sharpness right now. Next Saturday evening’s encounter with Chelsea is sure to test their energy levels once again, whilst trips to Liverpool and Man United in consecutive fixtures in Gameweeks 6 and 7 could also prove a major stumbling block.

That upcoming set of opponents suggests defensive returns for the Toffees continues to look unlikely. Seamus Coleman’s goal against Arsenal in his first appearance of the campaign promotes him above the equally priced Leighton Baines in our rankings for now, though both may have to rely on attacking returns to justify the outlay.

Further up the field, a goal and maximum bonus points in each of his first two appearances has seen Steven Naismith snapped up by over 14% of Fantasy Premier League managers, though his early form could be scuppered by the tough schedule. Owners of Romelu Lukaku will be keen to see the big Belgian prove that he has the quality to defy the fixtures – with Samuel Eto’o on board now, though, Roberto Martinez could choose to protect Lukaku from an ongoing toe problem. If he fails to make next weekend, an exodus could be on the cards for the 11%-owned summer signing.

LEICESTER

“involvement

A well earned point against Everton was followed by a 2-0 defeat at the hands of on-song Chelsea at the weekend, and the fixture list continues to frown upon the newly promoted Foxes for the next few weeks. Nigel Pearson’s side welcome Arsenal and Man United to the King Power Stadium in their next four, and with trips to Stoke and Palace also factored in, the short-term doesn’t look too favourable.

Kasper Schmeichel should be kept busy between the sticks, then, whilst Wes Morgan and co will have to wait a few more Gameweeks until their budget appeal has the opportunity to emerge. Up top for the Foxes, both Leonardo Ulloa and David Nugent are viable cut-price forward options for the season ahead, but may struggle to truly advertise their talents until the Gameweek 7 clash with fellow Premier League new boys Burnley.

BE WARY OF

Chelsea
Back-to-back victories, with Fantasy returns spread right across the positions, ensures that Jose Mourinho’s side are the star attraction for managers right now. Nevertheless, it should not be forgotten that those two fixtures have been against two newly promoted sides in Burnley and Leicester. On the horizon now for Chelsea is the trip to Everton this weekend accompanied by a possible early six-pointer against title rivals Man City in three weeks’ time, before a London derby with Arsenal in Gameweek 7, meaning that the Blues are set for a much tougher time in the upcoming weeks.

There’s no doubt that Chelsea’s stars have the form and quality to produce in these challenging fixtures, though Branislav Ivanovic may have to rely on the attacking prowess that has seen him accumulate a goal and assist thus far to continue to prove good value for his 7.1 price tag. Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard will remain popular options, with the onus on the pair to inspire their side for the big fixtures, while Diego Costa’s dream start to life at Stamford Bridge could come under threat if he fails to produce against the resilient defences of City and Arsenal.

Spurs
Another team to have started brightly and picked up maximum points from their first two matches, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will have their work cut out to continue that form. Liverpool, Man City and a north London derby at the Emirates in the next six Gameweeks somewhat dampens their appeal, though showdowns with Sunderland, West Brom and Southampton over the same period suggest it’s not all doom and gloom.

Though they are yet to concede, clean sheets in the three aforementioned fixtures seem unlikely – Eric Dier’s army of new owners may consider rotating the defender, though that may prove a risky decision with his attacking abilities proving so vital to his appeal thus far. The new arrival of Federico Fazio adds to Pochettino’s options at the back and many will be happy to steer clear until a picture emerges of a regular back-four.

Meanwhile, owners of Cristian Eriksen will be holding out to see if he can turn his positive stats into returns in his side’s clashes with Sunderland and West Brom in Gameweeks 4 and 5 – failure to do so could see the 8.0-priced Danish playmaker begin to lose his place in many Fantasy teams, especially if the equally priced Erik Lamela continues his flourishing form from last Sunday’s 4-0 rout against QPR. Emmanuel Adebayor’s 4% ownership underlines his differential appeal but the Togo international has his work cut out to mirror last week’s 12-point return against QPR.

West Ham
The East Londoners gave a good account of themselves in their 3-1 victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday and will be hoping to do the same against Southampton this weekend. However, the Hammers schedule is then blighted as they travel to resilient Hull before facing Liverpool and Man United in consecutive Gameweeks. Any potential investors in summer signing Mauro Zarate following his goal-scoring debut at the weekend should be wary of this pair of tough fixtures, though clashes with QPR and Burnley then await Sam Allardyce’s team to boost the 6.4-priced Argentinian’s prospects further.

been thinking long and hard about this and i think it must now be obvious that 4-3-3 is now the way forward for LVG and united.. given that we have played 3 competitive games with a 3-5-2 lost 2 and drawn 1 and LVGS comments pre season that 4-3-3 is his prefered system its fair to assume this..

im not gunna speculate on the defence and centre of the midfield because i believe they will be strengthened over the coming days

so looking at the front 3 many would look at

    rooney rvp di maria

this begs the question would any rational thinking united fan prefer to see rooney for example played on the flank instead of januzaj beacause i sure as hell would not..

not only is januzaj quicker something lacking badly up top but its his natural position he can torture full backs has great delivery and vision..

now before anyone jumps down my throat im not suggesting rooney or rvp is dropped from the team its a long hard season a squad game and having world class options on the bench as well as on the pitch is vital u only have to look at the subs bench of city and chelsea week in week out to see the benefits

im merely suggesting that the strongest front 3 available to us would be januzaj and di maria flanking one of rvp or rooney..

    thoughts?

yes you want a strong bench but not at the expense of a weakened XI

yes ADM is class but I don't think it's better to fit him in at the expense of dropping mata and one of rvp/rooney

any chance of a 442 with diamond midfield? mata, herrera, adm, and one other as the mids

The squad is a mess and I think Mata will be the one to make way, he should never have been bought
Rooney has to play, he made him captain
RVP will play cos he's absolute class and LVG loves him
And ADM has to play cos the spent 60m on him
I cant see where Mata fits into that tbh
Unless he tries to mould them into a really fluid front 4 with each of them just popping up wherever needed and Carrick, Herrera behind them?

I agree on the back 4 though, once he has 2 fully fit CB's and luke shaw fit he should return to that.

u say he HAS to play and he HAS to play.. no one HAS to play.. we spent close to 40 on mata aswell does that mean he HAS to play? no it doesnt.. the best 11 players in the squad doesnt equate to the best team

          ok, ok.
the players I said HAS to play are Rooney and ADM.
Do you REALLY see him not playing his new captain or his 60m addition?
I said RVP will play (this is a guess) cos of his quality and relationship with LVG.

I also said the squad is a mess which I think is correct.
I said Mata will be the one to make way so I'm not sure where your question about him having to play comes from....
Did you read my post properly?

who said anything about dropping anyone?

the starting 11 wont be the same every week its a squad game

what im saying is when it comes to getting the best out of whats at ur disposal and more importantly best for the team shape and performance then in a front 3 januzaj must start wide likewise di maria

u either agree with that or u dont? its all about opinions mate

im saying that neither rooney or rvp have a god given right to expect to be in the starting 11 every week and it would then become a choice between the 2 for the lone striker role..

and ur right to say that rooney given that he has been named captain would likely play more than most so where does that leave RVP.. does he play aswell at the expense of whats best for the team because he dines out with LVG and his missus?

Well its obvious I dont agree 'mate' but I'm not sure where your attitude is coming from.
You asked for thoughts but you just wanna shove yours down peoples throats

My 'thoughts' were Mata would be the one to make way and I explained my thinking. You can agree or not and thats fine, I dont wanna ram it down your throat.
As for Janujaz starting I think youre wrong and youre overrating him. He's not ready to be a regular starter yet.
And as for you daft, smartass comment about RVP dining with LVG and his missis, what I said was RVP will play cos he's absolute class and LVG loves him.
              Learn to read 'mate'

like i said its about opinions and if u think rooney or rvp in a wide position ahead of januzaj a natural wide player would be more beneficial to the team thats ur call.. lets agree to disagree on that

                  Sure lets agree to disagree
But I didnt say Rooney or Rvp in a wide position
I said I think they'll both start, most games anyway.
It doesnt have to be 4-3-3
Anyway, lets see what LVG does but he's better have something up his sleeve or he'll be looking for a new job come May.

certainly hope its 4-3-3 a formation that both manager and players will be alot more comfortable with

I think a 4-3-1-2 would suit better. One thing I admire about city and pelly is that all his players seem to accept that they are not nailed on (even if they are) - it's a squad thing and all understand that. United don't have the same depth and that has produced a different culture, one where the top names expect to play all and every game. LVG should drop who he needs to drop in order to play his system and everyone should tow the line

        Sure, but drop 37m Mata?
        Or captain Rooney?
Or his best (and fav player) RVP?
        Or his 60m signing ADM?
        Or his 30m signing Herrera?

        Its tricky no?
The lads who make way at city are 2nd tier quality like Navas, Dzeko, Negredo etc and not of the quality of Mata, Rooney, RVP, ADM.
How long would Aguero, Toure etc be happy if he found himself 2nd choice?

To be honest I think both of them look past their best and a call has to be made on one.

Rooney likes to drift and doesn't score the volume of goals as RvP, but then RvP doesn't score the volume of goals he used to either will that return?

I think Rooney is vastly overatted earnings wise his in the worlds upper bracket in terms of ability he far from it.

Just out of interest why is it frowned upon on a football discussion website to talk about a team you have a genuine dislike for, because you've put up with crap from the same people who are now moaning about it. Krul - Foster

Cahill - Chambers - Naylor - van Aanholt - Wisdom

    Fabregas - Ramsey - Mata - Siggy - Marney

    Rooney - Costa - Dzeko

Giroud does a massive job for Arsenal. Sanchez can't hold the ball up, on the wing would be better...

Arsenal should have got Demba Ba

    1. Ady87

He is a winger that's where he should play. He gets a few WC apps up top and that's where he now plays despite never leaving the touch line for Barca?

They certainly need a "hold-up" player. Welbeck would be a great choice if Utd would let him go there.

I think Young will be dropped, he hasn't shown anything in his handful of PL games this season to indicate he has any kind of future at United.
