Abel Hernandez and Mo Diame net on their Hull debut in a pulsating 2-2 home draw with West Ham. Enner Valencia strikes on his first start for the Hammers, while James Chester remains on the bench after Steve Bruce shifts to a four-man defence.

Tigers New Boys in the Goals
Steve Bruce handed deadline-day buys Mo Diame and Abel Hernandez their debuts for last night’s encounter and was rewarded after the new boys bagged a goal apiece. Diame’s introduction saw Jake Livermore shift to the right flank as the Tigers boss opted for a 4-4-2, while Hernandez joined Nikica Jelavic up front, with Tom Ince – who had previously been fielded alongside the Croatian, dropping out of the matchday squad altogether. Hernandez’ opener certainly suggests he could prove to be an inspired signing by Bruce but with City, Arsenal and Liverpool in the next five, few will be looking to invest in Hull right now.

Chester Benched as Bruce Shifts Formation
After starting the first three matches with a 3-5-2 system, Bruce’s decision to opt for a four-man defence left James Chester’s Fantasy owners with a dilemma. Granted, the Hull boss switched tactics on a number of occasions last season but if he continues with a back-four, the 5%-owned Chester may struggle to climb ahead of Curtis Davies and Michael Dawson in the pecking order. Going on Bruce’s team sheets so far, then, left-back Andrew Robertson, at 4.5, seems the safest budget route into the Hull defence.

Valencia Helps Hammers to a Point
After playing just 22 minutes in the opening three Gameweeks, the Ecuadorian netted a superb long-range effort on his first start of the season. Sam Allardyce fielded all three of his new forwards together for the first time and altered his tactical approach, as the visitors lined up in a 4-3-1-2 formation with Mauro Zarate tucking in behind Valencia and Diafra Sakho. While their two-goal haul will please the Hammers boss, his side have now failed to keep a clean sheet as he goes on the attack – with Liverpool and United next, defensive returns look hard to come by.

So doing Debuchy to Duff.. leaves me with this for the weekend

    Krul
    Clyne Duff Caulker
    Eriksen(c) Sterling Ramsey Siggy
    Rooney Welbeck Costa

    Elliott Terry Albrighton Chester
    2.5 in the bank
    0 FT

Briefly flirted with Terry to Baines/Chester to Bardsley but now i'm thinking i'll leave as is. Enough cash in the bank to get Fabs/ADM/Hazard/Sanchez in next week for Eriksen IF needed(else may just swap Albrighton and Rooney for Fabs and Pelle or someone)

Unless there are injuries midweek everything sounds logical right? or do i need to do the Baines swap for Terry/Bardsley in for Chester(can only see those too defenders paying me back for a hit this week)

He might, he said in his post match interview that he'll have a drink with Big Sam after the match because 'that is not the way in which both teams usually play'

which gives me the hint that he might revert to the old system... Might be clutching at straws through 🙁

Is this a Chester question? I briefly trawled the forums of a Hull City fan site this morning and was heartened by the number of posters who feel Chester should be in the team regardless of formation. Unfortunately none of them seemed to be Steve Bruce so I'm not sure it means a lot 😉

Nothing brings people together like a catastrophe such as discovering your Hull defender is no longer nailed on 🙂

Having looked at the fixtures I may be jumping ship regardless though - Chambers is a tempter if the injury news falls the right way.

    Repost (new post)!

Who is your favourite Chester replacement?

    a) PVA
    b) N Taylor
    c) Chambers (if Debuchy is out for a long time)
    d) Robertson or another Hull defender
    e) Wilson (would be triple Stoke defence!)
    f) Somebody else

    Rest of my backline is:

    Begovic McCarthy
    Ivanovic Clyne Pieters Moore

    Thanks!

    Ronaldo, Morata

Had to sacrifice Moya and Miranda for Leno and Siq to get Kroos, Matuidi and Ronaldo.. Is it worth it or should i go 2 cheaper strikers for Ronaldo? I can trade Ronaldo + Morata for Ibra + Muller(EXAMPLE)

Sorry, misread the Q, thought you asked for how many of those who scored had scored previously, not those that started. Fool!

Last night's game just served to remind me that this game is a lot more fun punting along. You really don't need to be a genius to know that Cesc and Ramsey are going to score a lot of pts..or Costa and Aguero...
Did anybody have Valencia or Hernandez ?

I'm into my numbers and Excel so what I like about this game is it gives me chance to use that, number crunch and then make my transfers and see how the side gets on.

Yeah, brill...I have no clue with that stuff. I know Valencia looked quite an exciting player to watch though. Good stuff.

Well said, Wakey. Unfortunately, my Schurrle punt didn't go so well 😆 .....already looking for another one to jump on though 🙂

Doubt anyone had either of them on here.

I usually try to have a mid/fwd pick for MNF even if it's a fairly duff one...I felt left out last night.

Thinking about drafting in Di Maria, but it will come at the cost of either Sanchez or Hazard. I have Welbeck and Costa. Thoughts?

I have Sanchez and Hazard and sticking..that's all...If I was going to ditch one it would be for ADM but I'd struggle to do it.
