How's this for a WC team?

    Krul
    Rafael, Chambers, Hutton
    Siggy, Fab, Sterling, Ramsey
    Rooney, Aguero, Diego Costa
    (Elliot, Duff, Moore, Boyd)

I think it's bloody super if you ask me 🙂

      It's actually very good.

Although, you must have missed the fact that Newcastle don't keep CS 😛

Hopefully tony pulis gets brought in to replace pardew! In the meantime, krul will still hopefully collect save points

defense is crap. But you know that.

Newcastle is in last. Take Evans over Rafael. Chambers has 2 yellow in less than 3 full games, not great fix's coming, no CS's. Take Wilson or even Robertson. Hutton has brutal fix's start Duff. McCarthy will play at 4.0. IMO GL great 7

Falcao likely to be next bandwagon? Not this gw, but if he starts, plays well and scores, he'll be a better pick then Rooney going forward.

Wondering if I should leave funds for Rooney to Falcao(on wildcard) in such a scenario.

    1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus

How many games will he have to go without scoring before people get nervous & the knives come out? 4 games is my guess...

        ?

My plan is to go with Rooney on my wildcard, but leave at least 0.6 in bank to transfer Rooney to Falcao in case he fires.

If he doesn't and Rooney looks better, will keep Rooney.

Rank Hutton, Duff and Moore as cheap defender options if you choosing between them on a wildcard? Not sure if picking 1 or 2 of them.

Hutton - in best defence but fixtures cannot be worse. Will be benched for at least 5 out of next 6 fixtures. Defence good enough to nick an unexpected clean sheet in the tough fixtures if have to play him. Seems nailed.
Duff - Burnley seems quite solid and last few games has been good. 36 yrs old and facing some competition from loanee(till Jan) Keane.
Moore - Leicester def seems decent and he is nailed.

Duff is more popular this gw coz of recent results, but Leicester might be better defensively going fwd and Moore will be most secured going forward so don't have to worry about the 4.0 slot? Hutton would be a long term investment if getting him in due to his horrendous fixtures.

    1. Jay_
      11 years, 10 months ago

I have Moore and Hutton, all 3 plus Ivanovic an Baines wouldn't be the worst idea in the world though.

      1. Turtlepower

From past season's experience, having at least 1 is optimal. Having 2 this year looks viable due to having the 3 options to switch around.

Would advise against having all 3, one of them being dropped or injured would leave you scrambling for options as difficult to upgrade then.

    2. rickardinho
      • 11 Years
      11 years, 10 months ago

For me those 3 are equal. The main thing I look at is where the holes are in the fixtures of my top 4 defenders and where I need cover here-and-there. In my case Moore is the best option, but it'll be different for everyone.

However, if you plan on playing a 4.0 every game it might be a little different, but few people do that.

In anycase most profits are on players like fab and Costa who I'll keep for a long time so it makes no difference. What hurts are price drops on players that are highly transferable. I took a hit a few weeks back to get rid of Davis when he fell, and although it hasn't paid off points wise te 0.1 drop effectively saved me 0.5 in spending power at the time and even now I have 0.5iyb instead of a significantly less useful 0.4 because of it.

Let them. They are still trying to justify their wildcard decision..for every 0.1 they avoided. The fact is that u avoided a drop for this player in your original team blah blah u will always have a new player to drop price which u bring in on wc

Anyone think putting the C on Falcao this week might pay off gangbusters? I mean everyone is so high on Rooney for C that I don't see how it could be a bad thing when Falcao starts this weekend. If you think Rooney will be great , just wait until you see how Falcao rips the back of the nets open.

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

He played only 20 games and scored 11 goals because of an injury, so if your grading on a curve, then maybe he's average!

        2011-2013 on Atletico Madrid 68 games........52 goals.
        2009-2011 on Porto 51 games......41 goals.

The guy is a goal scoring machine period. If he is healthy, he will score and score them in bunches.

On another note, I don't exactly get how anyone can be so high on Rooney and not on Falcao. Rooney will be moved to the hole and Falcao will be up front hammering in crosses from DiMaria and Herrera and possibly Mata all game long.

Time will tell, but I'd be willing to bet that there will be a mad dash to add him to people's teams as fast as possible just as soon as he puts one or two away. The dash begins this weekend after the game. Cheers!

Looks pretty powerful to me. Even if they decide to bench Mata instead of RVP, well....it's still powerful. Either way Falcao is about to open his account in a big way in the next couple of fixtures.

I might make him VC but there's a risk that he's benched for Osman or Eto'o who didn't start the EL game, so captaincy is out of the question.

He's not that young so Thursday-Sunday will take it's toll. Someone has to be rotated and it might be him, just as it could be mirallas (in fact I think Pienaar will take either his or mcgeadys place... And then there's Atsu as well)

    Hi All

After some advice on this team, have decided to stick it out with Hazard and also Mata (for now), have 1 FT, having been toying with downgrading Cahill this week with an aim to upgrade Larsson next with an aim of moving to a 3-5-2, would love to hear some thoughts.....cheers

    Krul (Foster)

    Cahill Chambers Bertrand (Wisdom Rio)

    Ramsay Hazard Mata Siggy (Larsson)

    Costa Rooney Naismith

Why do people keep saying that Rafael is such a good option?

Sure, he's an attacking fullback at 5.3 in a top side, but - he's injury prone, rotation risk (young, Valencia, smelling) and isn't on form, not to mention that Uniteds fixtures will get tougher soon and their defense overall is pretty poor. Bertrand and Clyne are miles better, even together.

Smalling's days on the right are done. His only real threats are Jones and Valencia. But of course the real issue is fitness.

The cool kids are going with Blackett.

Agree Rick, too much being judged on one game and a formation that was dictated by injuries in other areas. He may well be a good shout but a bit of calm for now imo

    Bench one of each:

    - Siggy / Tadic
    - Taylor / Clyne

Leaning towards both Swansea players as I want to avoid having attack vs defense. Clyne could get attacking returns though so might be worth it over naylor... What do you think?

Oh sorry, I forgot what my original question was!!

Yeah Siggy-Clyne seems like the options with least risk and most offensive upside. Clyne scored at anfield and has 5+ Points in every game so far afterall

Anyone else desperately hoping that Baines stays quiet in the next 3 games to keep his price at 6.9 until gw8? That's gonna be a massive bandwagon regardless of what he does in the next 3 but it would be nice to get on that wagon at 6.9 still 🙂

        Siggy fab Tadic Ramsey Sterling

Just 2 more trades before doing Lovren>Baines gw8. Praying that Lovren doesn't drop before then 🙂

At least I'll get his price rise if he scores. Couldn't show my face on here if I bench Tadic and he scores.

I see it differently from seemingly everyone...

If I bench an attacker who scores well that game I'm not pissed but actually happy. It shows I have a good asset who will rise in value.

Case in point Naismith himself- I haven't caught most of his points as he's been benched, but I have earned 0.6 on his rise.

i know what you mean - but for me thats like small compensation for missing out on points, especially when you see more fancied players blank! 🙁

but yes, thats a good way to look at it - i like your thinking, i should probably try it! 😀
