This afternoon sees the return of our Suspension Tightrope widget which is now available in your right sidebars under the Watchlist rankings. For those of you less familiar, the Tightrope keeps a tally of cards accrued from Capital One Cup, FA Cup and Premier League matches and the table is updated after each Gameweek – we’ll aim to share the Fantasy implications of the latest yellows and reds dished out by referees as we go.

We’ll bring you news of all the latest suspensions, along with a regular update of the yellow card totals of the most heinous perpetrators as they approach the precipice of a ban and mount the ‘Suspension Tightrope’.

Those of you who’ve been following the #SuspensionTightrope hashtag on Twitter will be fully aware that this season’s apparatus has been ready and waiting for its first customer since last weekend, after a number of players earned their third caution of the campaign.

The midweek Capital One Cup matches ensured we were finally up and running, as Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey earned a fourth yellow card of the season during Tuesday evening’s 3-0 home win over Everton – leaving him just a single booking shy of a one-match ban. Having missed 45 minutes of football in Swansea’s excellent start to the campaign, Shelvey now needs to avoid another yellow from now until December 31 in order to escape a ban – highly unlikely, given his current rate of cards.

The biggest name amongst those on three yellows is undoubtedly Diego Costa, who is now owned by a massive 60% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers. Rested for last night’s cup win over Bolton, Chelsea’s top scorer has received a yellow card in all three of his away league appearances so far as opposition backlines have successfully managed to wind him up on his travels.

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle has also incurred the referee’s wrath on a trio of occasions, as have Arsenal pair Jack Wilshere and Calum Chambers – worryingly for Arsene Wenger, the latter has now been booked in all three of his league starts. City’s Yaya Toure is also on three bookings, though his failure to fire as a Fantasy option so far means only 9% of FPL managers have the Ivorian on board.

Elsewhere in the collective notebooks of the men in black, the red cards for Pablo Zabaleta and Wilfried Bony led to bans served in this round of Capital One Cup ties, which means both will be back to star for their respective sides at the weekend. No such luck for Tyler Blackett, though, as United’s loss to MK Dons in the previous round means his next match is the league encounter with West Ham, and the imminent return of Luke Shaw suggest his days in the United starting XI may already be done. Last night also saw Newcastle’s Mehdi Abeid see red in the 3-2 win at Palace – he’s now set to sit on the sidelines as the Magpies make their way to the Britannia.

I'm going on my wild card. Template here we come.

Out of interest what is your ideal template team as it stands?

        Forster
        Clyne Ivanovic Wisdom
        ADM Sterling Fabregas Siggy
        Costa Pelle Ulloa

Probably something along those lines, give or take an Aguero or Chambers.

Not sure if there is a set template yet ? Maybe 6- 7 positions , but still some fluidity at play.

    Repost

Keep Siggy and play either A) Puncheon, or B) Moses.

Both takes corners. Both playing at home against wide-open defensive opponents. (CP and Newcastle)

Puncheon play slightly deeper but Moses' team has lower scoring rate. Your thought?

You're fine. Even if you played 3-5-2 you'd have the same team if costa got injured.

Unless the question is, do I take a hit?

That's a different thing altogether. Not ended this week but you have a complete non playing bench (Zaha should get on though)

      Costa will play.

For anyone considering playing Ulloa or Vardy this weekend, look at this table, sorting by crosses conceded from the left, big chances conceded, and chances in the box conceded.

Interesting reading despite me not playing either this weekend. I think in part Vardy and Ulloa did so well due to the huge spaces left behind the Utd fullbacks as they are the only source of width. But yeah the table makes for good reading.

    A) Chester ( more chance of me using his replacement)

thanks. next week what should I do with the spare dosh?
        Upgrade McGeady > Silva or
downgrade McGeady and have even more itb to upgrade a striker later?

          I have a similar team.

I'm looking at Chadli to Silva, if given a position 'in the hole' behind Aguero.

As a non owner of City players, should I be worried after their route last night or is it just that Sheffield Wednesday were extremely poor?

    I have to do:
    Ramsey to Tadic

    To be able to do:
    Ulloa > Jelavic
    Di Maria > Mata

    3 transfers for a -4 hit

    The big question is:
Is it worth dropping Ramsey to Tadic to get Ulloa+Di Maria?

So confused. I think your names are backwards or indeed the arrows.

Well in two games time Ramsey's fixtures are really good so its a risk to say the least.

Statistically speaking 40% on the site are non-Costa owners (though more realistically its probably only 20%).

As a Costa owner I wouldn't mind it if he blanked or got sent off to make the striker and captaincy picks more interesting to be honest.

I think he'll be ready to start, if Koeman's comments over the last week are anything to go by. He was positive before the league cup and seems to be positive still so nothing to imply that his progress has stumbled.

On wildcard messing about, I've got

    Heaton - Forster

    Chambers - Clyne - Trippier - Hutton - Moore

    Sterling - ADM - Siggy - Downing - Boyd

    Falcao - Costa - Aguero

I'm starting to think this looks quite good though obviously I do have some doubts about the mid and defence

Already have FAB and Costa would it be crazy to throw Hazard in as well. We (Villa) have taken some beatings there before.

    Current midfield

    FAB---Siggy---Mirallas---ADM---Sterling

If so who would you take out?
I'm a lil worried about Sterlings Game time this weekend after 120 mins midweek and CL games midweek.

I wouldn't triple-up on Chelsea, especially as other teams have attractive fixtures this weekend (and beyond) - I can't see Rodgers resting Sterling again after the Villa debacle.

Can't leave out any from Costa, Fabregas, Hazard, Aguero, Ramsey, Sterling ahead of either of those two?
