Our Friday lunchtime regular is served up once again, as we analyse the PlayON player price list ahead of tomorrow’s 10.45am deadline. As usual, we offer a couple of picks per position, with an essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

This week PlayON have a £1,000 Guaranteed Pot on offer for the full Gameweek. In addition, there is a £250 Guaranteed pot for each of their daily games on Saturday, Sunday and Monday – View the Guaranteed Pots Here.

Goalkeeper – Vito Mannone
We’re keeping faith in the Italian once again, after he vindicated our pick last week with six saves and a clean sheet in the Black Cats’ draw at Burnley. Sunderland entertain Swansea at the Stadium of Light tomorrow afternoon and after a promising start to the season, the Swans failed to score at home against Southampton in the previous round – at 7.9m, Mannone looks a strong option, given that save points are worth 200 points in the PlayON scoring matrix. West Brom’s Ben Foster is another stopper to consider at just 7.6m. The Baggies host a Burnley side who are yet to score since Scott Arfield’s goal in their opening match of the season against Chelsea and, with Joleon Lescott now fully fit, seems to have stepped up in resilience.

Defender – Ryan Bertrand
The Southampton defence has been solid so far this season, keeping a trio of clean sheets and conceding just three times, fewer than any other team in the league. The Saints welcome QPR to St Mary’s and the left-back looks a strong shout for points at both ends of the pitch – Bertrand has one assist so far and comes in at just 7.5m, compared to team-mate Nathaniel Clyne’s 8.9m. Chelsea’s home clash with Villa also looks a strong source of defensive points. Gary Cahill (8.1m) has played every minute so far for the west London team and the Blues’ centre-half will pose an aerial threat in the box against a visitors’ defence likely to be without skipper Ron Vlaar once again. Paul Lambert’s side may have picked up the points at Anfield but the league leaders are a different proposition altogether and with just four goals scored, the midlands outfit could struggle to breach Jose Mourinho’s backline.

Midfielder – Victor Moses
The Nigerian has quickly established himself on the Stoke left flank, having started each of the last three matches since arriving on loan from Chelsea. Moses served up an assist in last weekend’s draw at QPR and could be a bargain for 8.3m as the Potters entertain out-of-sorts face a Newcastle at the Britannia this weekend. Andre Schurrle may have had relatively limited pitch time so far but – as evidenced by last week’s draw at Man City – he’s more than capable of delivering the points as a substitute. Perhaps a little risky at 9.5m, the German’s eye for goal has already seen him notch twice – more than any Chelsea midfielder in a free-scoring side that has already notched 16 times in the first five Gameweeks.

Forward – Robin Van Persie
In previous seasons it would have been unthinkable to label Van Persie as a left-field pick. Although United’s defence looks best left alone in terms of Fantasy investment, Louis van Gaal’s side have picked up in the final third and scored seven times in two matches since moving to a midfield diamond. There’s no Van Persie has had a slow start to the campaign but. After scoring his first goal of the campaign last weekend, is starting to rediscover his form and, at 10.5m in the PlayON Player Price List, is cheaper than t Wayne Rooney (12.0m) as a route into the Red Devils’ attack. Southampton’s Graziano Pelle has an excellent fixture against QPR this week. The Italian has hit some form with three goals and an assist in his last three and, priced at 11.2m, will be confident of maintaining the run against a backline that has conceded four times in each of their two away matches so far.

Head over to www.playon.co and get picking ahead of the 10.45am deadline tomorrow morning.

Obviously. It's still shit advice though. Naylor/Duff etc are no more likely to keep a cs but a loss less likely to get attacking points.

I say that Naylor IS more likely to keep a clean sheet, though. Not Duff - I'll give you that.

And I don't believe that Moreno is particularly likely to pick up attacking points:

          http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/1026/

Personally, it is my view that he is a shit pick.

There's more to attacking points than goals...not to mention stats don't tell anywhere near the whole story...

Not saying he's a good pick, but he's up there amongst the defenders with best attacking threat.

    To all those Costa (C)'s

Can EASILY see a solid Villa side restrict Chelsea, I think it will be a close game 1-0 / 2-0 to Chelsea. I feel like they go into these easy games at home with a somewhat of a lazy mindset which translate into taking the foot off the pedal like the Leicester game, the bridge is notorious for some big upsets by weak teams. Also, I think The Special One will substitute Costa for Drogba around the 70th mark.

Don't need differentials at this stage in the season and with the large majority captaining Costa if he blanks or does well it has little efffect on your overall rank.

    [wrong threat originally]

Hi , was just wondering if I was eligible for the "old farts" league

I can verify I'm both old and a fart.

If one of the old farts in team Australia would care to PM the league code I would be eternally grateful.

    thanks in advance.

    **Long post alert**

As there's been a lot of talk about tadic & pelle this week, I decided to watch a full re-run of the Arsenal vs Southampton game from Tuesday night to see how they fared. Also wanted to run the rule over Mané seeing as it was his first appearance.

I noted all of their shots (inside & outside box) plus chances created and touches inside the box. Data below:

    Mins Played

    Tadic 90
    Pelle 90
    Mané 70

    Touches in the box

    Tadic 5
    Pelle 3
    Mané 4

    Shots (inside/outside)

    Tadic 2 (1/1)
    Pelle 4 (2/2)
    Mané 1 (1/0)

    Chances created

    Tadic 4
    Pelle 1
    Mané 1

    Notes:

    Tadic

Creatively he looks fantastic. Constantly finding space and linking play up. He started on the left but switched with Mané on 18mins and played the rest of the game on the right (until Long came on for Mane on 70 mins and he went back to the left). In the first half he was drifting inside a lot, whilst second half he stuck out to the right and Mane seemed to play more inside. He set up a couple of decent chances, however worth noting his only two shots were a penalty and free kick. I think he should get plenty of assists, but he seems almost too unselfish, so apart from set pieces, don't think he'll score a bucket load of goals. Move on the right may help him though as he can cut onto his left foot. Koeman also has option to play long on right and tadic behind pelle. On all set pieces apart from corners on the right which Davies takes.

    Pelle

First thing to note was that Pelle hardly got a kick all game, however his two shots inside the box, one hit the post and the other he should have scored with a header from 8 yrds out from a corner that went over the bar. His two shots outside the box were high, wide and ugly. He reminds me of a giroud type player. Won't do much in the game but will get chances due to the creative players around him, so he'll score goals, but they may come in bursts and I think owners should expect runs of 2pts too. I think he's certainly viable as a third striker, but maybe not so much in second spot, i.e. alongside welbeck/ulloa. Booked in stoppage time for a clumsy foul.

    Mané

Looks a very exciting prospect. Stats above don't tell the whole story. He was constantly running in behind the arsenal defence (more so than Pelle/Tadic) and looks a handful due to his speed. Had one decent chance when he shot wide under pressure and fizzed a great ball across in the second half that no one was able to get onto. Also won the penalty for tadic. Probably too early to get him yet, but I think his pace will cause QPR's defence problems on Sat. At 6.9m he's one to monitor, but wouldn't be surprised if he starts getting a few goals/assists and looks like he could be a future bandwagon.

    Conclusion

All of tadic/pelle/mane look decent prospects. I'd say pelle for goals, tadic for assists and leave an expectant question mark over Mane. I'm currently on WC and was going to get tadic, but I think I'll hold off for now. Fantastic player but could have a bit of Silva syndrome where it doesn't translate into FPL points. I could well be proved wrong though. Pelle could score a hat trick or do absolutely nothing on sat, that's kind of player he his. I'm personally still not convinced but hard to ignore with those fixtures. If Mane shows more of what he did on Tues then he'll definitely be a viable option. Hope this posts proves useful one way or the other anyway.

I brought him in a couple of weeks ago. Like I said in post was going to keep him but now not so sure. Not because he's a bad player, if anything he's gone up in my estimation, I'm just not sure how well he's going to do in terms of FPL.
