    Did anyone see Zamora get a touch on the ball for their second goal? I just brought Austin in this week so my blinkered view at the time was his cross was deflected in by Demichelis. Obviously FPL don't agree though and as scores have just been confirmed nowt's going to change. Just wondered what other people thought.

    Bottomed out...

    I'd like to congratulate Everton and particularly Southampton fans. Amidst the glowing scale of football in which it's hard to distinguish big clubs from marketing firms both of yous are a breath of fresh air. Wanyama, Clyne, McCarthy et al are just the sort of transfers which were United's bread and butter in our heyday. Good luck and I for one hope there's at least one surprise in the top four this season if not two.

      Wanyama was a boss at Celtic and was Yayaesque in Champions League. Beginning to show it now at Saints.

      At Hamilton Accies apparantly all the top clubs were interested in McCarthy but it was Wigan who made the move then Martinez took him to Everton. Gerrardesque without the ball striking great player proud he's an Ireland international.

      Just evidence that the top clubs want some completely finished article or that their scouting networks aren't up to much.

        The scouting is shocking. That one performance against Barcelona in the CL is all I would've needed to see from Wanyama. I don't understand it. McCarthy was clearly the best young CM in the league for two years running and we just ignored him. As you say Irish international should only sweeten it for a top British club.

          Exactly about the Barca performance.

          Big Vic mixed it with the best and looked a match for them to be honest when he went to Southampton I thought meh why wasn't Arsenal, United et all in the mix?

          As part of a two man double pivot he's a total boss and he's got a bit about him going forward which to be honest wasn't really there initially at Celtic but he must be improving obviously.

          McCarthy I can see going bigger than Everton he's coming 24! In four seasons time he will be in his prime the amount of games of senior football he has played is unreal for one so young wise head on young shoulders and a great athlete.

            Agreed with all that. Now we'll have to pay a king's ransom if we're to get either of them.

            And as for Clyne, apparently "attitude problems" were the reason Fergie didn't sign him from Palace. Where have we heard that one before? Yet he signed Zaha?

            Does my head in really.

    Baines, Clyne, Chambers [Wisdom][Targett]

    Welbeck is still really good value at 7.3, or have people forgotten that he's still Arsenal's number 1 striker, and gets loads of little chances and touches in the box? Until that changes there aren't many reasons to sell right now, especially if you got him at 7.2 like me and can afford to absord another 0.1 drop.

    1. The Machine

      His touches are mainly those that hold the play and usually go back to a midfielder. He just isn't a natural scorer

        The same was said earlier in the season about Bojan, Naismith, Ulloa, etc. It feels like those 3 you've listed are just the next on that list. Sakho might be an exception though

          Berahino has been doing it over 2 seasons on the Prem.

          Austin, as was said by a few QPR fans who've followed him for some time, is on the same kind of career curve as Ricky Lambert. The difference is that time is on his side.

          Sakho is most likely to fade simply because he has Carroll and Valencia to deal with.

          No one was banging Bojan's drum as far as I can see. Naismith was never nailed on which made a lot of us wary of getting him in.

          Austin and Berahino are vital to their respective teams chances of survival.

          I have Sakho and Downing too, going to hold for a couple more weeks before getting rid, I've learnt over the years to give players a chance, today was the first time West Ham haven't scored in ages, still think they've got plenty of goals in them where Downing and Sakho will be in the thick of it. Also have Clyne and Forster, thinking of seeing how they go through the first couple of tough fixtures as I have good value in both

    Which one of these would you do to get Aguero in? I have 2 FT to work with

    A) Pelle + Fab -> Aguero + Downing
    B) Costa + Naylor -> Aguero + Yun
    C) Berahino + ADM -> Aguero + Boyd
    D) Pelle + ADM -> Aguero + Chadli
    E) None of the above

      My main issue with Di maria is his crosses mean nothing if rvp is your striker. One of the worst headers of the ball

        yeah this. it was ok when it was falcao there (not great), but with VP the aerial threat is terrible

          the problem is that ADM is used to swinging in crosses to players like Ronaldo, Benzema, and Bale, who are all great to good headers of the ball

      I'm keeping - as far as I can see (not seen match yet) he's been the one player at Utd who is real class.

      ADM > Walcott seems to be the temptation, but not for me. I think he's going to finish the most consistent of all the MF returns over the season.

      potentially Cesc, as a Chelsea fan and Cesc owner since gameweek 1 slightly concerned about how deep he is still playing, heavily dependent on free kicks and corners. Have Sanchez and ADM aswell and reckon their the better options

      City looked like a carbon copy of liverpool last season in some respects. Far more sluggish in midfield than liverpool, but terrible at the back and one-man-team up top in some respects

        • 12 Years
        11 years, 5 months ago

        Agreed, kinda. Not on the Liverpool thing.. but Aguero really got them out of trouble. Yaya isn't what he was, and Nasri is lacking fitness. Therefore, with no Silva, there was no one to dominate. Fernando and Fernandinho played as the DMs. Poor at the back without Kompany. Take Aguero out of that team, and they'd be very average right now.

    I am 0.2 short of Welbeck and ADM to Aguero and Downing.

    Guzan, Given
    Baines, Clyne, Chambers, Moore, Wisdom
    Di Maria, Fabregas, Sanchez, Sigurdsson, Boyd
    Pelle, Costa, Welbeck

    1.1m in the bank. 1 FT. I could take a hit if needed.
