We place our faith in a couple of midweek goalscorers and Tottenham’s Danish maestro in this week’s attempt to get the better of Paddy.

First up, we pay visit to Villa Park, where the hosts entertain fellow strugglers Leicester. Paul Lambert’s side are now on a four-match unbeaten run, with just two goals conceded over that period, whilst talisman Christian Benteke is starting to find his form after firing the winner at Palace on Tuesday. Paddy are prepared to offer 25/1 on the Belgian to notch two or more goals and the hosts to earn a clean sheet, we’ll make this our bet of the week and shell out £4.

Our attentions turn to Anfield next as Liverpool go in search of a third consecutive win. Steven Gerrard was amongst the goals in Tuesday’s triumph at Leicester and with their confidence up, the Reds will fancy their chances of keeping out a Sunderland side with just two goals to their name in the last four. With Paddy preparing to offer 5/1 on a Gerrard goal and a Liverpool clean sheet, we hand over a further £3 for the Merseyside match.

The final bet is kept for an all-London clash at the Lane, as Spurs play host to Palace. After blanking at the Bridge on Wednesday evening, Christian Eriksen will be desperate to return to the form that saw him net in back-to-back matches prior to the midweek Chelsea showdown. Paddy are offering 11/2 on an Eriksen goal and Tottenham clean sheet and we’ll throw our final £3 their way for this one.

Very similar front 7 to me, Rooney/Costa being the only difference.

Did my first drunk transfer of the season, sold a player who I was priming as my only real differential.
    Bye bye Oscar. 🙁

Now, for this week, my XI is like.

    Adrian,
    Azpi, Hutton, Chambers,
    Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Sigurdsson,
    Aguero (c), Austin, Rooney.

    Fine enough for the week?

With Mirallas around Baines isn't the best option, although he can still get a penalty or even a cs, if they choose a very defensive approach.

I guess Jedinak seems the best to bench from those.

Not really haha. Only things I can think of are Baines (or Azpi)> a cheaper def and upgrade Austin, maybe to Bony... but Baines has too much potential at both ends and Azpi gets them CS's. Perhaps someone with more imagination could suggest something better!

I think the member stats are much more useful, and allow one to get ahead of the curve. Downing being a perfect example. The RMT, on the other hand, is very slow to adapt to team form and player form. For example, it had Lovren as one of the highest ranked defenders for much of the early part of the season

          1. Heels_Over_Head
            • 12 Years
            11 years, 3 months ago

yeah... Liverpool defense has been overrated too long in too many places

i was blocked from members area for first few months of season (it was censored in country i'm in, not sure why, and apparently they weren't either as the censor has been lifted)... so i have a lot to do to catch up on members tables

i really want to downgrade hazard to someone else so i can get double chelsea defense... BUT, looks like it is unwise to do for the time being... can find not justification to jump to anyone that's cheaper than Eden and Fab

By any chance, do you live in the UAE? I know it was banned, for quite a while, over there

I wouldn't do that. Hazard is a great pick. A quick look at the members stats will tell you that 🙂

Tough one one Clyne/Hutton ... As a Leicester supporter I think we are struggling a bit right now and a Villa double up could be worth it... but as has been pointed out to me, Soton do have potential to keep a CS vs Manu.. so Id stick with that lineup... v good team too, explosive front line

Out of interest how have you found it have Gilks as a non playing GK? I started that way (Begovic being other one) and changed a few weeks ago so I now have Krul/Foster. Did not like the lack of flexibility, though it does free up 0.5 Mill. I even had Albrighton as bench fodder from day 1 (i did expect him to play more tbh. Anyway that was a mistake, subbed him out this week

Cheers mate, well I had two free transfers and didn't really want to do anything so I swapped Heaton for Guzan last night, that's why I have Gilks.

To be fair I have had quite a few keepers this season, I Krul twice, Mannone, Heaton etc. It's best just to stick with one though and I like Villas fixture's.

        Good luck to Leicester

Sorry for the repost, but unsure what to do with this team?
Thinking Baines + Taylor --> Azpi + Cresswell

    Fabianski - Krul
    Clyne - Baines - Taylor - Dummett - Chambers
    Sanchez - Yaya - Downing - Siggy - Boyd
    Berahino - Aguero - Austin

    All feedback appreciated.

    Krul
    Baines Chambers Azpili
    Sanchez Yaya(vc) Siggy Hazard
    Kun(c) Austin Kane

    Elliott SDavis Wisdom Duff

    1ft. 0.9m.

    A)Krul>Heaton/Guzan/Pantilimon/Adrian
    B)play elliott and, save ft

40 points above rival. Whats the best tactic?

Play it safe with costa or proceed with a bony or benteke with spare cash during festive period

No tactic to be considered at this point, 40 is absolutely nothing. Play the game as if u have no rival

40 points is a nice lead but if I was 40points down & had 3 gmwks left i'd still fell i'd a shot @ winning the lge.

play away as normal, did you well until now

Keep playing the way you've done I guess, I wouldn't care too much about the 40 point lead, it's nothing.

That said I would not go into the festive period without Costa!

I have Ben Foster as GK.

    Would you play:

    A. Wisdom (Hull Away)
    B. Bartley (West Ham Away)

i'd like to know best below 9.7 (between 9.7 and 10.2, its Fab or Fab)

can't figure out if there's a decent case for Silva (once healthy) or Sterling to replace in-form Haz... so far, seems not... which leaves me nothing to do

        Eriksen, Oscar, Sterling, fit Silva?

Eriksen - not convinced Tottenham has found consistency yet; also he scores more when you think he won't and less when you think he will (potential to be this season's Lukaku)

Oscar - looking to triple Chelsea with Costa & 2 defs, no room

Sterling - feel like he's much more useful with Sturridge; I fear Balotelli coming back into the mix and destroying current nascent harmony while Sturridge looks to be out until mid-January... mabye

Silva when healthy - leading candidate but more rotation risk than Haz by a bit, and can't afford to bring him in only to watch him get injured again... biggest temptation as I do like those ManC fixtures

      Azp.

Terry attracts decent bonus... but Azp is an absolute bonus whore. He hovers it all up 😀

What to do with my 2 FT's?
Hate to have rotation risks in my team, so anything better than Chadli out for Downing? Boring I know. .. Seems Chadli may not start. Happy to use both transfers if needed.

    Guzan
Chambers Baines Bertrand ( Wisdom, NTaylor )
Siggy Fabregas Sanchez Chadli (Marney )
    Costa Aguero Austin.
