This week’s ScoutCast is a throwback – a return to the days when Granville moaned about his team of red flags and names like Robin van Persie and Yaya Toure dominated our thinking.

Granville and I slip into such subject matter like it’s a pair of old slippers, whilst assessing the Aguero fall-out, the Dzeko option, Ivanovic versus “Dave” Azpi and how I’ve modelled my Fantasy Football management style on Roy Hodgson.

We roll out the regulars and lament the demise of the ScoutCast team – eliminated in the opening round of our own cup competition. Some things never change.

Swim in nostalgia via this link or roll back the years via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Wow, Pelle is being bought to the point that he might rise tonight?

    That is some surprise.

He atleast got a goal, Clyne's price increased for no reason 😆 Will take that though 😀

I know. But he is still in shocking form, his finishing is horrific.

I don't see how one goal automatically changes people's minds, in the previous weeks he was being sold heavily.

    Bottom of last page.............

    ----------Guzan----------
    Clyne---Baines---Coleman
    HAZ--Oscar---Siggy---Eriksen---Mirallas
    ------Benteke-------------Drogba-------------

    Subs--Kane---Yun---Blackett

    Couple Qs....

Swans have an abysmal record V Spurs haven't beaten them since they came up So do I put Kane on for Siggy?????

Drogba has a possibility of starting i think and if i missed that i'd be sick even a 20 min cameo he prob would get points. Should he be benched or start? OR is the doubt on him enough to bench him and play kane and keep Siggy.

Chelsea have never beaten newcastle at St James is this one of those games for Swans too..

Sorry for long post but your help and advice is much appreciated..

P.S I know my FWd Line is weak I couldnt get costa back in after a

Fair enough. Well similar advice to others have given as i players against their old clubs to have a tendency to come back to haunt them, so think Siggy oculd have a good GW. Like Benteke as good differential and can see your point on Drogba but personally think Costa will start and come off later on

          🙂

I'd give Drogba a whirl but prep your team for next week for carroll or cisse to come in...

switch an everton defender to a chelsea defender, downgrade oscar to downing and use the funds for to strengthen eriksen to yaya if you can afford it...if you can't afford him...bring in silva...

    Today's pressers:

    Everton - 12.15
    Chelsea - 12.30
    Man City - 12.45

Things we learnt today so far:

    - Striker Sam Vokes is still not ready to be considered for Burnley against Southampton at Turf Moor.

    - Centre-back Michael Duff looks set to miss a fourth game with his calf problem while Stephen Ward (ankle) and Matt Taylor (Achilles) are still sidelined.

    - West Bromwich Albion duo Stephane Sessegnon and Youssuf Mulumbu have both shaken off knocks and are fit for Saturday's local derby with Aston Villa at The Hawthorns

    - Crystal Palace defender Damien Delaney could return to the starting line-up having recovered from a calf injury.

    - Midfielder Jason Puncheon will be assessed after missing training on Thursday through illness while Joe Ledley (hip) and Adrian Mariappa (knee) are both ruled out

Southampton expect to have midfielder Toby Alderweireld back from a hamstring for tomorrow's match at Burnley and James Ward-Prowse is also set to be in the squad after resuming full training following two months out with an ankle problem.

    - Morgan Schneiderlin misses out with a groin injury, while forward Jay Rodriguez has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation from a knee problem.

    - Wenger adds that Alexi Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck are "fit and rested" and Kieran Gibbs and Mathieu Flamini are also available.

Any reason Sanchez isn'tt he strongest captain this weekend? Doubts over Costa starting, Hazard's goal involvement is always a concern, whereas Arsenal should score and when they do, Sanchez is usually involved.

    1. Chris_White
      11 years, 10 months ago

Not sure tbh. Hoping he gets overlooked 🙂

    2. Willis.

Hazard has scored in each of his last 4 games. He's very reliable at home. Especially against small teams.

      1. Baines on Toast...
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        11 years, 10 months ago

Nonetheless, he's involved in around 25% of Chelsea's goals and Sanchez in 2/3 of Arsenal's. Much more chance for him to blank.

    3. Pork Pie Sausage Roll
      11 years, 10 months ago

I'm considering him, a bit worried about him being shunted out onto the wing to accomodate tweedledum and tweedledee again.

      1. Le Limpar
        11 years, 10 months ago

Not a great sample size yet, but I have the feeling Giroud might mean more chances for AS. He does love a lay-off (often to a fault, with the goal gaping in front of him).

        1. Pork Pie Sausage Roll
          11 years, 10 months ago

If he partners Giroud upfront I agree.

I watched the WBA game when Welbeck and Giroud played upfront and Sanchez was anonymous all game; hopefully Wenger won't do it again, but it's enough of a risk to spook me out of captaining him I think.

So just heard Ramsey is ruled out. Pissed to say the least because i brought him in early even before the midweek game to avoid Chadli's drop. Any ideas now 😕

    Forster
    Azpi, Clyne, Hutton
    Sanchez, Hazard, Ramsey(!), Siggy, Downing
    Rooney, Bony

    McCarthy, Naylor, Janmaat, Austin(!) 1.8m

Where do the rumours of Costa not starting come from? Pretty sure he's nailed to be in starting XI.

    1. Stykes
      11 years, 10 months ago

Apparently he's been looking quite poor recently, while Drogba and Remy are both looking quite sharp.

    2. Teror
      11 years, 10 months ago

It's wastemen overthinking tings. Drogba is old. Remy is good, but he's not a top class striker. Mourinho will not be benching Costa especially not after their first loss of the season. Sure, he'll do it against Derby, but not tomorrow. No way Jose, no way.

    1. Teror

That front line is looking weak, fam. Silva is a big risk too. Might play only 20 minutes. Could get a recurrance of his injury. No form to go by at all. Can't believe you're going without a Costa/Bony/Rooney. Risk. Big risk. But not even calculated risk. I'd swap Silva for a Boyd or Ameobi and use the funds to upgrade Kane or Benteke to one of those I mentioned above. Maybe even Courtois out for a Foster/Guzan/Fabianski. But what do I know? I'm as lost as you are, brother.

Not overkill, could be shrewd. Especially since Citeh love to go HAM on opposition when they can. But let's not pretend that Dzeko could play utterly pants, he's only just come back. Needs to find his groove, the boy. Dust off his dancing shoes.
