In light of Sergio Aguero’s knee injury, we delve into the data to highlight a number of forwards’ weekend displays. Wilfried Bony and Robin van Persie’s fine form arrives under the spotlight, whilst we also assess Diego Costa’s recent toils for Chelsea. The Gunners’ weekend scorers and Tottenham’s in-form Dane are also amongst this evening’s topics as Fantasy managers look to spend that left over budget from the Aguero fall-out.
Who to replace duff with from this list ?
Yun Coloccini or BenDaviesYuninho 🙂
Davies imo
Yun
Yun

Yun
Cheers guys 🙂 Yun would give me a nice 0.6 ITB too
Hi All,
Given that it was his first start for some time, what did we make of David Silva's game over the weekend? Enough to suggest he could be a potential alternative, in terms of City coverage?Until i see city sorting out the striker problem i would not buy silva
Unless he is the answer to their striker problem...
Their most creative outlet, in full flight - when fully fit
I'm tempted to go silva over yaya
This
Sunderland are an odd team, only 1 point better off than Burnley, 2 points above relegation zone, 1 point worse than West Brom yet they and Poyet seem to get a free pass in the press, never really criticized. Outside bet for relegation?
Its because they never lose... 🙂
True! Just thinking about the amount of grief Irvin is getting at west brom
I think Irvine is doing fine. All managers in the bottom half get grief until they win a game or two, its how it works. WBA are doing well in the games they should do well in, so its hard to criticize too much, they've had tough fixtures overall.
SUN 2-2, BUR 4-0, CPL 2-2, lei 1-0, hul 0-0, AVL 1-0... those are the games that matter for them, and 3wins and 3 draws is absolutely fine.Agree
And all five of their CS have been 0-0 draws.
It's because he's a Chelsea legend 🙂
Nah, i think they'll survive since Poyet knows how to turn things around when it matters most. He'll be like Pulis. Results against big sides get alot of good publicity too... draws vs chelsea and liverpool will get the media off him for a while
Indeed. He's been unlucky with the 8-0 demolition and lack of goals from his strikers. I think he'll be a good gaffer.
Bench one among them?
Caulker (WBA), Dummet (SUN), Baines (sou), Naylor (hul)Probably Naylor
Naylor or Baines (shock horror, not Baines! :P)
nice dilemma - probably Dummett
mann still very confused
Naylor
Benching Naylor as it seems
naylor
Anyone think JWP will come back into first team ?
Anyone know where TheFantasyFreak (TFF) has been this week? I need to thank him for advising me to buy Kane 😀
So has anyone kneejerk rvp in? I did by selling rooney
thinking of him as Costa replacement. But not yet.
Brought him in for Dzeko
Is debuchy starting now?
I think so. He should get back on RB too.
Should be automatic. He's fit
should do
yes...first choice rb
Repost.
1 FT, 4.2 ITB
Heaton / / / Krul
Ivan, Wisdom, Yun / / / Chambers, Moore
Sanchez, Fabregas, Mata, Downing / / / Boyd
Costa / Lukaku / Kane
Three contenders to leave my team are Krul, Moore and Lukaku. Who should I get rid off first?
Could be:
A) Krul -> Hart / DDG (Heaton is looking at some very tough fixtures)
B) Moore -> Mangala / Demi
C) Lukaku -> RVP / ?
Or maybe Boyd -> Nasri for City attacking cover?A with Hart
Yup, that solves GK issue for some time.
If I was sure Krull will be back for GW 19, I'd kept him and play Heaton in next two GWs and get rid off Moore.
Advice for the week?
Guzan
Baines Terry Naylor
Alexis Haz Downing Siggy
Bony Costa Austin
Elliot, Boyd, Yun, Hutton
Are either Siggy --> Yaya or Boyd --> Eriksen worth a -4? Or save?Anyone find they give sound orthodox fantasy football advice on here then when taking a look at their own team occasionally decide in a fit of genius, madness or foolishness to do something different?
Keep your friends close, & your enemies closer on FFS 😉
* & yes 😉 I ended up getting Dzeko this week ;(
Next week will also backfired ;( 🙁I got Dzeko too. I still don't think that was a terrible decision. Good luck with your madness this week! 😀
Hehe 😉 Hopefully will come good later on in the season for the DGW's!
Thanks Diva, good luck with your insanity as well 😉Thanks. My move may be slightly crazy for next week but will hopefully pay off over the whole Christmas period! 🙂
yeah, usually backfires tbh lol
yep - it rarely ends well 🙁
Yep. 😕
Berahino & one of the Southampton DEFs, my most pressing issues, I think
Fabianski Pantilimon
Baines Clyne Bertrand Naylor Yun
Fabregas Hazard Downing Sigurdsson Boyd
Rooney Costa Berahino
1FT/£1m in the bank
- Wait for news on City FWDs for the upcoming GW - and look at possibly Jovetic (should he be fit?)
- Play only Baines and one of the Southampton DEFs from the same fixture?
- Fabregas to Silva worth a punt?
Thoughts appreciatedI'd give Soton guys another chance.
You should look to get rid off Berahino first. Austin maybe? Or Sakho/Carroll? Or wait on Jovetic news. Thanks Mile! Kane or Austin the way to go, I think.
I'll keep Clyne/Bertrand around another GW - simply due to other pressing moves.
Get rid of Berahino first imo
Austin or Kane should work out wellCheers Gloria - Feel like they're the two most likely candidates to replace Berahino
Who to start this week?
A) Wisdom (qpr)
B) Chambers (liv)Likely 2 Points each. Wisdom to avoid YC.
Aye, I would agree here
Also slight chance of attacking returns from weak Ranger's fullbacks
A
@ Rick
I said he's a proven goal scorer only on set pieces. And I stand corrected. You don't need to always put up too many shots to score a goal. Conversion rate differs from player to player, season to season. Vertonghen & Vermaelen used to be a beast of goalscorers but not anymore. Not saying Mangala is similar to them but Demi has scored some decent goals from set pieces throughout his career. It's not always about how many shots he has taken. Stats are good but sometimes you read too much into it. Agree Mangala is a constant goal threat on set pieces but you need to stop ignoring the fact that it could easily be Demi's head which connects it the next time. I do think I'd have preferred Mangala if it wasn't for 4 YCs but with the way he has been playing it's unlikely that he avoids suspension.Demi and Mangala have similar attacking potential IMO.
Now now! Not sure about that but he really needs to stop undermining Demi's threat on set-pieces.
I didn't mean to undermine him, I just meant that Mangala's threat was greater. See below.
This.
Since Mangala on 4YC, Demi is cheaper and Demi has slightly higher BAP potential (if I remember correctly from Innsie's hot topic) it sways me towards him.
Demi for me.
At this stage and condition, I'd go with Demi.
You're absolutely right. It could be anyone's header, even Demi's, but I would rather pick the guy with the stats to back that up to increase my odds, even if its only by 2%. Mangala has a career scoring rate of about 1 in 10 games (4 in 37), and demi has 12 in 183 games (about 1 every 15 games).
Now it might be a small sample size, and a really volatile stat, but my general perception from watching games also factors in, and I think Mangala looks significantly more dangerous in the box than Demichelis does. But thats just my opinion 😀
Anyways, I'd probably get Zabaleta if i went for a City def due to the 4yc's so it doesn't matter 😀Nice stats and interesting post rick (as always), but wouldn't you rather get the defender that is slightly cheaper and isn't one yellow card away from suspension even if he has 2% less chance of connecting with a header?
0.1 doesn't matter to me, so not for that reason.
When picking def's I prefer to look long-term, and i don't want to use another FT on def's until the Jan WC... before which Kompany will be back and kick demi out of the lineup.
Mangala might miss a game, but i've got a 4th def covering most weeks anyways, so its no biggie
As i said though, probably getting zaba, or just keeping baines. 😀Thats fair enough. You seem to be basing your argument around the fact that Komps will be back before expected, which could happen but it could also be the exact opposite.
IIRC, Mangala and Demi basically rotate the other CB position when Komps is fit, so when he is fit neither is nailed on imo.
Yep, but with city's fixtures you wouldn't want to transfer in one of their defenders only for him to be suspended the next week?
Fair enough. I wouldn't get rid of Baines, yes Mirallas is annoying but he is still a season keeper for me.Good points mate. I'm going to wait and see what happens with Baines. Hopefully he'll make himself un-droppable. I don't think I need the cash either as I'll be downgrading Costa in gw19 and get a nice windfall there. Saving the FT is my best move i think, since I have Hart already 😀
4 YCs is a huge factor for me when we are talking about player like Mangala. Can't argue with your stat but I'm still frustrated that Ivan hasn't scored a goal since I brought him in after GW 3.
What would you recommend with this lot
Foster (Myhill)
Baines, Azpi, Clichy, (Dummett, Hutton)
Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Downing (Siggy)
Rooney, Bony, Austin (c)
1.6 ITB
a) Foster to DDG
b) Foster to Hart
c) Siggy to Silva
d) leave well alone
Thanks in advancesave imo
Siggy to Silva is nice.
B or D
Foster to Hart
D
B or D.
Thanks everyone
D for sure imo
D
For next week:
- I've transferred in a 6m goalkeeper (Hart) - something I thought I'd never do
- I made this move for a hit - something I thought I'd never do
- I'm considering benching Baines - Something I thought I'd never do
- I'm considering captaining Zabaleta - You get the jist.
Have I gone mad or is this a good time for such shenanigans?
For context (and to show off) my team as it stands is:
Hart
Azpilicueta Zabaleta (C) Yun
Sanchez Eriksen Hazard Downing
Bony Costa Austin
Foster, Baines, Bertrand, BoydAll of those actions are ok, would be captaining Austin though.
Baines vs Yun is close no?Very close between Baines, Bertrand and Yun imo. I will watch Baines tomorrow to see how attacking he is, I don't see him keeping a clean sheet at Soton.
Lovely team I really like it , but play Baines over Yun and Captain Austin
All decent moves except the captaincy thing.
The first two seem ok, the third is risky imo and the last one seems crazy to me.
Great team but captain AustinCan't disagree. Austin would be my VC although I didn't specify. I just think Man City will play a very fluid system and could see Zabaleta getting forward a great deal (If he even plays). I'm already banking on a cleanie (with the Hart move) so this is whats leading me to this thinking.
With my terrible captain history I should probably just captain Austin though.
Erik for the armband.
Who should I start?
Jags(sot), Dummett(SUN)Dummett
jags
Jags
Jagielka
Dummett
Do Met
Fair to say that Costa ➡ RVP is not worth a xfer this wee?
k
Agree. But I might do Lukaku -> RVP.
Reasonable xfer imo
Of course it is! Costa still a waste of 11.0 mil.
It's not really dead yet, is it?
just buried alive
it is. And it's pretty amusing 😆
Not until the fat lady
I nominate Jozy Altidore as the next Lord of EPL #LordAltidore
Has there been another one after Demel?
One to bench ?
Kane (BUR)
Bony (hul)
Dowing (LEI)
Hazard (stk)
Costa (stk)
Sanchez (liv)Who is your seventh forward/mid starter?
Y.Toure (CPL)
Eriksen (BUR)Can't believe I'm going to say this, but... Costa.
that's tough. Bony or Costa.
Damn. Other two?
I wanna say Bony, but I wouldn't bench him. This might sound crazy, but honestly. Costa.
Agreed 😯
Yes, I really do think about this too. 😯
😯 you're crazy to even think about that!
😯 Are we crazy?
would bench Costa myself
Who's your other mids? Wouldn't bench any of those 6.
Y.Toure (CPL)
Eriksen (BUR)
I think these two should be started.Bench Kane. Burnley are capable of doing well defensively at home and he's hardworking but still learning his goalscoring craft.
It's trimmed down to BONY or COSTA for benching then.
you could regret it but Costa
hows this team? sold oscar and rooney for downing and rvp
heaton
yun baines taylor
hazard sanchez downing mirallas
rvp(c) costa austin(vc)
bench: gilks siggy bartley wisdom 0.8itbgood moves. Toss a coin between Siggy and Mirallas.
Do you guys think RVP will be rotated during Xmas?
Thinking of Costa to RVP for the longer termIf i have an extra 0.3m, I'd do it.
I hate Costa because:
A. He doesn't get BAPs.
B. He's the reason why I'm maxed out Chelsea (got Fab & JT too). If not, I might have got Haz instead of Yaya last week, and a green arrow in return.
C. I've only made 0.3 from him.
Any reason not to?Get him out IMO, he's been lacking for a while now.
Unless you're heading caution & are swayed away by ownership %, I'd get rid.
No good reason I can think of to warrant 11.1mIndeed.
Last season it was OK to have both Suarez and Studge, so this season it could be Fab & Haz time - something I've not considered for a long time but finally contemplating it.
Problem is, he'll score 3 goals when I finally ditch him.Proactive's the name of game Nabil 😉
Going of recent form, can't see how he could possibly harm anyone than the fat center backs on the pitch 😉Please don't go into that height and weight of CBs discussion anymore 😆
Yeah. I don;t think he'll last long in my team.
No he won't. He's a waste of 11.0.
Understand all of that!
Also an owner but i just keep thinking, number 1 forward for the team that may well win the league, will prob end up on 20 plus goals this season and now Aguero out cash is no issue.
I think perfect CH involvement is Defender plus Haz plus CostaYep. I got that in my intial team - JT + Haz + Costa. Ditched JT & Haz (JZ has since returned), and now bringing Haz again. D'uh!
Oh you're lucky you didn't sell him in GW3 and watch him score a brace and then a hat trick (where pretty much everyone captained him and my captain got 2 points).
😆 That's something more sadistic than what I'm actually going through! So keep or sell?
Keep for now I think.
I think I'll get rid of Costa when I don't have bigger issues to deal with
had him since gw1 but not worth 11m imhosame. owner since GW1. Think Haz is a better player to own.
He got me a 5 pointer, which was better than I would have got with Dzeko.
... Actually, on second though, if I had gotten Dzeko I would now have Wisdom's 9 off the bench, so thats not true lol... But still, he outscored or matched most striker options like sakho, benteke, rooney, dzeko, etc.. who were the other aguero replacements. not too disappointed.
anyways, he's got another 1-2 gw's and then im getting benteke, or maybe even balotelli (yes, really)so he's dispensable. Maybe we're holding onto him too long.
i don't see anyone who i'd rather want right now. Will only sell once rotation becomes a factor in gw19
bony/rvp/kane/austin are all tempting
i have kane and austin already, and costa could very well outscore bony this gw since swansea are shite away from home
12 goals in 13 starts.
I know. But other strikers are proving to be better value. And maybe other CHE players too.
Better value only goes so far though... I needed to put my aguero money somewhere... 😀
shame you can't see the part about him in the article above. his stats are better now than earlier in the season, apart from his finishing. it'll come though...
still holding on..losing patience though
same here man.
I've said this before, so sorry if I sound like a broken record, but I sold him three weeks ago and have had three green arrows since.
wow, nice play man. For Bony? Wish I followed your route.
Yep, Bony. 🙂
There's always plenty of excuses to keep him. Most are just frightened to sell while even Peter Crouch is starting to outscore him...lol.
Clyne to Debuchy ?
Yes. I think Debuchy is a relatively good attacker.
I wouldn't.
Why?
Comming back from longish injury. Hasn't got form nor fixtures in his favour.
If you want Arsenal def, get Gibbs.
Dzeko>RVP or Rooney?
RvP
Robin
Thanks guys. Cheers and lets stay ahead of the curve.
Downgrade 1 to Austin
a) Rooney
b) Costaroonpig
a
@Ryan, regarding Kane's stats.... I wrote this two days ago. He didn't let me down...
Kane stats:
- Scored in 2 of his last 3 aways (avl, hull.. only failed to score at chelsea)
- A goal every 117 mins in aways (only Aguero, Cisse, Drogba, and Sakho/Valencia/Cole better that).
- Goal or assist in every 86mins in the league.
- Goal or assist every 94 minutes in all competitions (in over 1100 minutes)
- Only 4 strikers with 5 or more away appearances have better chances-per-minute
Spurs
- Spurs have a better away record (4-2-2) than home record (3-1-4).
- Spurs are 5th overall in attempts at goal away from home, despite having relatively tough fixtures (whm sun ars mci avl hul che)
- Adebayor has been sent home to Togo for "personal reasons", so Kane is now nailed on with great fixtures: swa BUR lei MUN CHE cpl SUN wba (can bench him vs che)Hit the post at Chelsea too. Amazing value.
Not sure if you can see this
http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/7972/I always look no further than the last 6 matches. Basically there are plenty of other strikers doing better right now
I couldn't see it, says "page not found"... maybe its not public?
anyways, I look at last 4 matches for attacking players (6gw's for defs') as i think immediate form is more importanthttp://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/7972/
Should be public nowSort by 4 matches if you like. Its even more damning for Kane
Then resort by shots on target! 🙂
SiB is more sustainable. Can't get them all on target if he's shooting from distance. Look at touches in the box too
I prefer SoT as yardstick for measuring potential goal output. The correlation is pretty consistent.
Nice table, very conveniently laid out thanks.
Allow me to dissect, with 4 matches as the baseline:
1. Spurs played EVE che CPL swa, which are on the whole difficult fixtures, so some allowance should be given.
2. Only 5 strikers had more Shots than him (on or off target)
3. Shots and touches inside the box aren't great, but solid enough against fixtures. See point 1 above.
4. Shots on target, only 3 off the best total of 8.
5. mins per chance at 26.9 is absolutely fine. Only bony, aguero, costa, sakho, carroll, giroud, and costa beat that, and its not far off. I can live with that.
For 5.0 i think he's phenomenal value, especially due to his upcoming fixtures: BUR lei MUN CHE cpl SUN wbaUnited and Chelsea are tough upcoming fixtures in the next 4. Re point 1, thats why it was originally sorted by 6GW's which you disputed. If you want another look try season stats. In any case, Spurs in general aren't getting into the box much, this is a concern.
I will bench him for Chelsea for sure, and possible united as well.
for strikers, its form over fixtures imo, so i am only interested in 4gw's, no matter the fixtures.
Season stats are irrelevant since kane has only recently become nailed on in the league.
Spurs aren't great, agreed, but someone's gotta score their goals, and he looks like the only one capable of doing so, along with eriksen.
Captain material this GW.
Dzeko to Kane for me
Now what to do with 7.5m itb ?!Invest in real estate. Or buy Yaya a cake 😉
Saw people talking about Caulker still being a bad option... which is a complete myth IMO...
Caulker's scores when I've played him... 2, 6, 9, 1, -1, 6, 4, 6, ?
4.125ppg... what's so bad about that?
And when he does inevitably score a few on the bounce, then even more 😎 from me...I missed a 2 in there somewhere... so it's 3.888ppg...
i missed that 9 🙁
happy to get the 4 and 6 though since getting him back!Caulker requires patience. A bunch of 2's on the trot and most normal FPL managers will be looking to get rid.
Then you have to make sure you start him in the right fixtures to get the points. So an element of luck is required to do well.
i.e. home fixtures only
JWP or Sadio Mane ?
Adio Mane
Neither. Different game?
