Steven Naismith grabs a goal and assist as Everton ease past travel-sick QPR. Ross Barkley and Kevin Mirallas also notch for the Merseysiders before the latter is forced off through injury, whilst Bobby Zamora stabs home a consolation effort to deny the Toffees a clean sheet once again.

Barkley Opens his Account

Handed a spot in the double-pivot due to Gareth Barry’s suspension, Ross Barkley still managed to notch his first goal of the season with an excellent long-range strike for the Toffees. With Barry back for the weekend trip to Southampton, Barkley owners will be hoping for a move back to a more advanced role once again and, at a price of just 6.8 in the Fantasy Premier League game, the youngster – who has started six of the last seven – may yet find himself a place in our Fantasy plans, with showdowns against Stoke, Newcastle and Hull following on from the St Mary’s clash.

Mirallas Concern for Toffees

Elsewhere in the Toffees’ midfield, Kevin Mirallas took his tally to two goals and an assist in the last four with a deflected free-kick against the R’s. Handed a fifth successive start since returning from injury, the Belgian is starting to find his form once again but, after being stretchered off towards the end of the match, is set for ankle scans this morning, with question marks now hanging over his availability as the Gameweeks come thick and fast.

Naismith Ends Goal Drought

The Scot returned to Everton’s starting XI for the first time since Gameweek 12 after recovering from a hamstring injury. Naismith served up a goal, assist and maximum bonus, outscoring fellow forward Romelu Lukaku by 12 points to five to serve a reminder of his potential. At a price of just 4.8, he may well benefit if Mirallas is, indeed, injured, though having previously scored just once in nine appearances, the Scot needs to up his consistency to become a viable option.

Zamora Compounds Baines’ Misery

With top scorer Charlie Austin sitting out a one-match suspension, little was expected from a side that had previously netted just two goals away from home to date. Substitute Bobby Zamora replicated Barkley’s feat by also scoring his first goal of the campaign to further frustrate owners of Everton defenders, who have now gone six matches without a clean sheet. With just one set of attacking returns in his last six appearances, Leighton Baines is struggling to justify his lofty price tag and his owners were left with a single point last night after he collected a yellow card. A possible injury to Mirallas could also benefit the left-back, though, after the Belgian’s return has seen his share of dead-ball duties diminish in recent weeks.

R’s Away Day Woes Continue

If Harry Redknapp’s side are to survive, it’s clear that their displays at Loftus Road will be pivotal. Last night’s result means QPR have lost all eight road trips and conceded at least twice on every occasion, whereas in front of their own fans, they’ve dropped just two points in the last four. Encouragingly for Redknapp, up next is a run of three home fixtures in the next four (WBA, CPL, SWA) which certainly hand his side a fighting chance – with Austin averaging 6.5 points per Loftus Road appearance and Leroy Fer notching in each of his last two at home, the R’s still have reason for optimism despite last night’s showing.

Having earned two clean sheets in the last four at home, Redknapp will be keen to have Steven Caulker back for the weekend. The R’s boss later confirmed that Caulker missed out with a head injury sustained at Burnley, despite the fact that it was previously reported that he had suffered a head injury in a post-match incident.

    Pick one to bench:

    A) Oscar (stoke away, already playing Hazard, in form)
    B) Benteke (MAN U at home, out of form)

D'ya reckon? Have you seen Altidore's finishing (or lack of)? Depends how the game pans out though I suppose. I think they could all easily concede, but I'd say Newc seem to be the most organised of late.

Easily Yun for me. Has some attacking threat but the main reason is Newcastle have their 3rd choice keeper and a rubbish team on paper that has got some good (lucky results) recently. they were found out against Arsenal and will likely concede or he will be carded in a derby.

Not because of defending, you've conceded loads of attempts on goal.

DDG and the forwards the reason for that.

And been ridiculously fortunate to do so, due to DDG making insane saves (doesn't seem a good sign of Carrick and co doing their jobs) and opposition defences imploding.

I see many are talking about selling Siggy or benching him this week, I currently also have him on my bench but it doesn't make me very comfortable.. thought I'd repost this post I made about his stats home/away:

With Sigurdssons very consistent blanks away from home, and 3 out of 4 games untill possible January WC being away from home, I decided to check If I wanted to keep him or not.

The last 10 games (6 home and 4 away) Siggy has these stats per game:

    Home Away
    Key pass 3,5 1,5
    Shots 1,8 2
    Assists 0,7 0
    Goals 0,2 0

With 2 goals in total this season, assists is the main source of points for Sigurdsson, and as we can see he has more than double the amount of key passes at home compared to away from home, so from only looking at this it seems he should on average return a lot more points at home (as he has).

The away-games was to Stoke, Everton, Manchester City and West Ham, so you could say that it was relatively though fixtures that caused his low stats, and indeed, the away-games he blanked in before these last 10 games were Chelsea and Sunderland, both difficult fixtures.

It's difficult to conclude if it was the fixtures or the fact that he played away (probably a little bit of both) - but it is tempting to keep him for Hull(A), Villa(H), Liverpool(A) and QPR(A) despite 3 away games in that time.. Anyone has thoughts on this? The alternative could be to upgrade him to Eriksen etc..

Bit bad formatting, but he has 0,9 g/a per game at home and 0 away, but all his away-games have been difficult fixtures

Azpi has had his rest , while clichy hasn't so wouldn't be too eager to do that

Jesus, that's horrific, you're basically benching a captaincy option! I honestly can't decide, you could end up with a double digit score on the bench.

      Eriksen or Austin

Is Haz poor away form still holding up? Would feel crazy to bench him but might need up being a fine move. Would take balls though

What a headache! Check the scoring odds on mids and then strikers and then decide between the lowest one of each.

      Bony(hul) or Downing (LEI)

The way Mourinho is talking, there could easily be some rotation anyway, but his away stats are a very different story to his home stats.

What are Baines owners doing with him after Miralla's injury? He is set for scans which means its not just a knock. Won't be less than 2 weeks. which could be 3-4 matches.

I think you have to hold now. Imagine the fustration of selling him now and he then performs. It will be like Eriksen all over again.

I'm keeping Baines. Don't see what miracles injury has to do with baines.

It has plenty to do with Baines. Corners free kicks and attacking potential in open play

Mirallas is a ball hog thus affecting Baines's attacking potential

I see it as a positive. Mirallas doesn't track back much and always looks to cut infield to shoot. He has also been taking a few free kicks off Baines, ok he scored but anyone who watched the game will know it was a fluke. The return of Pienaar will be good for Baines IMO, they link up very well. I'm keeping him.

Gameweek 19 comes two days after 18, so captain picks will be tricky due to rest/rotation. I'm hoping Clichy plays in gw18 so I can draft in Kolarov for gw19 (home to Burnley) and captain him.

Depends on the rest of your backs and mids. But probably zaba as there are many great mid options and only a few at the back
