Granville and I get cosy on a two-seater sofa – within touching distance – just how he likes it.

In truth, my-host is getting too close for comfort: the mini-league gap is down to just 42 points, with Granville relentlessly chiping away at my previously unassailable lead.

We review Gameweek 16’s events, including my oh-so bitter Dzeko pill, before discussing De Gea’s uncanny form, the demise of Leighton Baines and my latest set-to with Jonty: are there better options than Diego Costa up top?

The regulars wrap themselves around that lot, while Granville, thankfully, keeps his hands to himself.

Snuggle up to the noise via this link or get up close and personal via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

        What's wrong with the fixtures?

Chelsea will have to keep it tight to win them a la arsenal and spurs at home as well as sunderland away and 6 goals conceded in the last 11 games shows they know they need to be keeping it tight.

thinking of rooney, rojo, yaya --> rvp, mangala, and mata (-8 hit)
    or

    A) Austin

That's who I'm currently on, but I can't trust Spurs at home, and Eriksen's goal threat isn't as good as the other 2.

I can't stress enough what a late minute winning goal away @Swansea (in a game they probably didn't deserve to win) does to a team's confidence. All of the sudden everyone starts believing again, the owners, the managers, the fans, but more importantly the players (esp the defenders)!

I def think the psychological effect can't be underestimated!

      1. SC not pearls before swine

I mean, if Spurs continue to fly that looks great, but what if they lay an egg against Burnley? I think it's too early to say that the winner in Wales was the turning point.

Never bring in a player in the week he returns from injury though, at least wait for him to play a bit beforehand, especially if it is for a hit.

            Thanks anyway for the opinion.

yea always good to be cautious.
I just dont think it was that bad of an injury, I think LVG played it safe in the event of re aggravating it (kinda of like Kompany/Dzeko, who prob came back a bit early)
I'll probably bring in Silva this week and ADM next.

              1. Nickofoz
                11 years, 10 months ago

Yeah true. Since I've got a decent rank I'm totally against taking hits, although I took one last week and it paid off numerically with a City CS but Komps got injured.

What so Silva -> ADM next week? That seems like a bit of a waste of two transfers imo, just do one or the other.

The thing is you never really know how your body will react until you get into game time situations. Impossible to duplicate in training.

I'm keeping Silva and probably bringing in ADM for Downing if all goes well of course.

    3. Mile Plankton - Myth and Ch…

      Were they really atrocious?

      1. Nickofoz
        11 years, 10 months ago

When did I say that? (Assuming you are talking about Swansea).

It's just Siggy is still good value but he is very inconsistent and his away returns are terrible. With leftover funds from Aguero, why not use it on another premium midfielder? (Already gone heavy hitting in defence).

        1. Mile Plankton - Myth and Ch…

          I was talking about Newcastle.

          1. Nickofoz
            11 years, 10 months ago

Sorry. Yes, they have been lately and will possibly have to play a 17 year old keeper.

            1. Mile Plankton - Myth and Ch…
              11 years, 10 months ago

              Have to disagree.
They lost two back to back games after amazing run. They should have Krull back for GW 18.

              1. Nickofoz
                11 years, 10 months ago

My point is, is that Newcastle at home is a good fixture regardless of their form and injuries. They will have lost all confidence after two heavy losses and they do seem to be an up and down team. He could be back, but if not my point above still stands.

Can't deny it is a juicy fixture.

                1. Mile Plankton - Myth and Ch…
                  11 years, 10 months ago

Not denying it. Just though 'atrocious' was a bit harsh.

    My team for this week:

    Guzan
    Baines Yun Dummett
    Hazard Downing Sigurdsson Sánchez
    Austin Costa Bony

Subs: Given / Taylor, Wisdom, Boyd
    2 FT, 4.6 ITB

I was thinking of upgrading Boyd to a fifth playing mid this week (e.g. Sterling, Eriksen, Lamps, Silva). Any ideas fellas?

    1. FPLEL
      11 years, 10 months ago

Bringing in Eriksen looks like a good move this week. My only concern is that he has played a lot of minutes recently.

      1. Tony Hibbert's Shootin…
        11 years, 10 months ago

      1. Tony Hibbert's Shootin…
        11 years, 10 months ago

I'll probably save upgrading my defense until next GW. Dummett against SUN seems a nice enough fixture, even though it's hard to judge being a derby fixture.

        1. Nickofoz
          11 years, 10 months ago

Nah, do it this week buddy. Not only is it a derby but Newcastle have injuries at the back and may have to play a 17 year old keeper, too.

          1. Tony Hibbert's Shootin…
            11 years, 10 months ago

True. Migjht do that and just play Siggy then. Hull haven't had the greatest home form of late.

          2. kalmoffit
            11 years, 10 months ago

            1. Nickofoz
              11 years, 10 months ago

As do City soon. No point leaving that amount in the bank when you could have a City or Chelsea defender who will no doubt tighten up during the festive period, and offer some attacking threat.

    5. kalmoffit

I'm thinking of Lampard/Milner to take bench duties

Yep. He's bound to get the monkey off his back, in brilliant form, on pens, Stoke hardly ever keep a clean sheet. In recent away matches he has been unlucky (hit the post against Newcastle and also should have had a few assists, and messi (GJ) blocked three of his close range shots at Anfield).

all this talk about City's fixtures makes me wonder if we are just overreacting to it??

Do we have to give Siggy a chance with these fixtures coming up? Really tempted by Nasri or Eriksen

Id bring in Eriksen - On Form Plus Good fixtures.

If you keep him for this one, you must keep him for next one.
Maybe it's better to get rid now.

    Fallers: Walcott Monreal Berahino

Benching Austin, starting Lukaku, capping Hazard.

    Ready for Saturday.

    ----------------------------De Gea
    ---------------Baines | Zabaleta | Davies
    Hazard (C) | Sanchez | Yaya Toure | Eriksen | Downing
    -------------------------Kane | Lukaku

    Elliot | Austin | Cissokho | Moore

I'd start Austin over Lukaku and Kane.

Lukaku - he is not explosive and doesn't like BAP's

Seriously? Benching Austin at home is madness. Doubling up on Spurs will also prove to be madness. Best of luck.

    Hi lads,
    current team:

    DDG Gilks
    Baines Hutton Wisdom Duff Bartley
    Siggy Sanchez Hazard Yaya Marney
    Rooney Kane Bony

Have got 2 FT's with 2.3 in the bank. Toyed with the idea of using both for Siggy out for either Sterling or Eriksen and Duff out for O'Shea. But I think I'm going to just do Duff out for Demi and roll over a FT again. Sound about the best bet?

    Any thoughts highly appreciated.

One change in defence will do. One extra FT will come in handy in upcoming GWs.
      Can you afford Zaba?

          Shame. Demi then.
You know any news on Kompany? Is he out until New Year?

          1. columbo
            11 years, 10 months ago

Likely to be from what I've been reading mate. Long enough for Demi to cover a nice portion of fixtures anyway

Do you have the cash for Duff to Zaba? Would prefer that

I'd probably hold a transfer and consider Sterling next week.

      1. Mile Plankton - Myth and Ch…
        11 years, 10 months ago

He has 2 FTs. Holding would mean wasting.

I meant hold one of the two.

      2. columbo

Problem is I wouldn't have enough to get Sterling come next week should I bring in a City defender this week. Decisions, decisions...

          11 years, 10 months ago

You'll still have 2 FTs. Someone could get injured or something. And Sterling is not a must have yet.

          1. columbo
            11 years, 10 months ago

That's very true. Thanks Mile, looks like it's going to be Demi with the security of 2 FT's next week.

Hi all. My defense is looking weak with Baines/Hutton/Bertand/Wisdom/Chambers

United have a nice run of fixtures, so thinking Bertand to Jones or Evans. (Already have 3 City, one of which is Hart.)

Some have DDG but I've seen zero comments on bringing in a United defender, bad idea?

May be a good idea but Generally I think Utd are a side it is more reliable to choose attacking players rather than defenders
