Kevin Mirallas misses Everton’s trip to Southampton. Dusan Tadic is ruled out for the Saints, whilst Graziano Pelle is doubtful. Hull’s Michael Dawson is out for up to five weeks, Bojan is back in training for Stoke, Theo Walcott will be assessed ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool, whilst Mario Balotelli is set to serve a one-match ban for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Nacho Monreal, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be assessed tomorrow, according to Arsene Wenger. The latter is set for a late test after failing to train, whilst the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere remain on the sidelines.

Marian Chamakh is ruled out of Palace’s trip to City, though James McCarthy is set to feature despite sustaining a rib problem. Adrian Mariappa and Jonny Williams are back in training and the former could make the squad if he proves his fitness.

Kevin Mirallas is out of Everton’s trip to St Mary’s with an ankle problem but is expected to recover for the festive fixtures, according to Roberto Martinez. James McCarthy, Leon Osman, Darron Gibson and Tony Hibbert are all doubtful for the Toffees.

Alan Hutton, Kieran Richardson and Tom Cleverley are all suspended for Villa’s home clash with United. Paul Lambert is still without the likes of Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker at the back, whilst Ashley Westwood remains out with a knee injury.

Hull are set to be without Michael Dawson for up to five weeks with a hamstring tear, whilst Tom Huddlestone serves the first of a four-match ban at home to Swansea.

David Nugent is back in training for Leicester after stepping up his recovery from an ankle problem, though the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Matthew Upson are still unavailable for the trip to West Ham.

Mario Balotelli has been handed a one-match ban by the FA for recent social media posts and will skip Liverpool’s home clash with Arsenal.

Alan Pardew was handed a boost ahead of Newcastle’s derby home encounter with Sunderland, with reports in the local press confirming Jak Alnwick is set to recover from a shoulder injury to take his place between the sticks. Moussa Sissoko is likely to recover from a midweek knock, whilst the Magpies boss also expects Papiss Cisse to recover from illness.

The problems are mounting for Southampton ahead of the weekend home clash with Everton. Ronald Koeman has three players – Morgan Schneiderlin, Victor Wanyama and Florin Gardos – all suspended, whilst Dusan Tadic and Jake Hesketh join Jack Cork on the sidelines through injury. Graziano Pelle and Steven Davis are both doubtful and are set for late fitness tests.

Bojan has returned to training for Stoke after recovering from a hip injury sustained last weekend. Mark Hughes is confident on the Spaniard’s availability for Monday’s visit of Chelsea and also has Marc Muniesa back from injury, though Stephen Ireland (knee) is a doubt.

Chris Brunt has recovered from a hamstring injury and returns for the Baggies’ trip to Loftus Road. Georgios Samaras is sidelined, whilst fellow forward Victor Anichebe is a doubt due to a groin injury.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

Who's voting fit Yaya in the poll?
Are the casuals out in force or is he the real deal?

Same here, been swayed by the fact Yaya is on TV. We all know what happened last time Man City were the early kick off too, so that takes care of the 'first game of the weekend' curse.

I'm on him at the moment. He's back in form, 40 points from the last 6, bombing forward again, and will be asked to do so even more now their strikers are out. Add free kicks and penalties and you have a very real candidate.

I have him but his stats aren't that enticing for the C

I'd say RVP is the best pick, followed by Sakho/Carroll and Austin IMO

No but it is the only ownership I can go on. And seeing as I'm not in the top 10k yet, it still is a fairly accurate reflection of ownership.

You need to captain him if you think he'll be your highest scorer. Sure he's a differential still, but captaining him will compound it even more, with not a lot of other great options.

I don't think that though. In fact, I'm not sure he's a great option at all. A decent one perhaps but City have a number of issues.

Hey all, my front eight, has ne'er a City player:

Downing - Sánchez - Eriksen (vc) - Hazard (Siggy)
    Kane (c) - Costa - Bony

Kane as captain is a calculated risk, but is there room to transfer in Yaya or any other city player here? I would captain Yaya if I brought him in.

    Cheers.

A key question atm, all likely to be rotated. But so could ANY player for ANY team, just City have good options on the bench.

I'm leaning towards Zaba myself (having had his rest and starting to hit some attacking form)

    5. The Light Knight

Looking at Leicester's horrendous away defensive stats and WBA's very decent away stats I'm thinking of...

    Sakho (C)

Is this madness? Sakho has great stats and I don't have RVP. Apart from him I don't fancy any other heavy hitter this week

I disagree from an FPL pov. Had 3 1 on 1s away at Old Trafford, his pace tormented United and Bournemouth and he is a good fox in the box, looks a great prospect, I have other boxes to tick at the moment tho.

Score any of the 1 on 1s? Will disregard Bournemouth as we are speaking from an FPL point of view. One of his best attributes is running at defenders, out and out striker requires a lot of hold up play. Would much rather a decent striker to hold it up and lay it off to him.

He's best as a support striker tbh. While his best attribute is running at defenders, it is somewhat wasted on the wing as his crossing isn't great (not that there's anyone to cross to 🙄 ), while him running at CBs makes them hit the panic button.

Sorry I should have improved that initial statement. You're pretty much saying exactly what I think, his best position isn't up at the very top but where he can run at CBs, that was what I wanted to say (but did so badly!)

    2 quick questions:

    1) I have FAB SANCHEZ DOWNING SIGGY WANYAMA.
Should i get Eriksen or Lampard/Milner in(im looking to upgrade Wanyama)? This is obviously uptil Jan WC…

    2) Have CLYNE and JAGIELKA this GW. Who do i play in defense? Or do i bench WELBECK and play both defenders?

    1. toluthadon
      • 12 Years
      11 years, 3 months ago

Depending on who you have up front, might not be any need to upgrade wanyama.

And I would play Clyne personally, home factor and Everton seem to always concede. Although I have clyne and Baines in my lineup, so could be an option to play both depending on who else you have

Can bench welbz as Giroud is likely to start

Clichy b/c a lot of newbies to FPL see him as a cheap option to MC defense that has recently scored points, without understanding he will very likely be rested.

    Quick one for you all..

Costa out...RVP in? Is it worth it... He's in great form, expect him to play against Villa & probably against Spuds, think he'll be rested on Boxing day though against Newcastle though...

    What we think?

villa is good in defence lately

rested because he can't play 3 games in 8 days! It happens every year on Boxing day fixtures, the managers change their line ups a lot... heed my warning 😉

Costa is hit an miss lately, RVP has a great record against Villa...

BTW, Villa's defence aint that great!! 1 Clean sheet in 5! United will score at least 2... RVP will probably score and possibly assist the other I reckon...

I was torn to shreds on here before the Hull game, said to bring Rooney in for it...

So after promising myself I'd never go 3-5-2 again earlier this season, I've had a moment of madness last week and now gone and set myself up for a massive benching headache this week.

    Full team:

    Forster (McCarthy)
    Baines, Dummet, Cresswell (Chambers, Wisdom)
Silva, Hazard, Downing, Eriksen (C), Sanchez
    Austin, Costa (Bony)

Currently benched Bony despite as Away stats aren't great. However, I'm not completely comfortable leaving him on the bench with his recent form in mind.

Any advice on best person to bench out of the front 8?
