Cesc Fabregas grabs a goal and assist as Chelsea ease past Stoke 2-0. John Terry also finds the net as the Blues earn a fifth clean sheet in six, though Eden Hazard gives Fantasy managers cause for concern after limping off in the dying minutes at the Britannia.

Consistent Cesc Delivers Again

Sold by over 356,000 FPL managers due to his one-match suspension against Hull the previous weekend, the Blues playmaker returned to form with a vengeance last night. Handed the role in “the hole” as Oscar dropped to the Blues’ bench, Fabregas bagged a goal and assist to steer Chelsea three points clear of City at the summit and take his personal tally to two goals and 12 assists in the first 17 Gameweeks. Now up to third in the FPL midfield standings, the Spaniard has earned his owners points in 11 of his 16 appearances for the Blues – Eden Hazard has managed a goal or assist in nine of his 17 league outings by comparison.

Hazard Concern for Blues

Forced off with an ankle problem towards the end of last night’s encounter, the Belgian had been the victim of numerous clumsy challenges by the home side throughout. Hazard’s assist in last night’s win – just his third away from home all season – ensured he remains ahead of Fabregas in the FPL standings and kept his form ticking over ahead of Friday’s home clash with West Ham. Bearing in mind he has scored in each of his last five at the Bridge, any update on the Belgian’s fitness will be eagerly awaited by Fantasy managers. Encouragingly, Mourinho failed to mention any problem during his post-match briefing, whilst Hazard is reported to have replied “don’t worry” when quizzed by reporters on his weekend availability.

Blues Backline in the Points

Last night’s victory means Mourinho’s side have now served up five clean sheets in the last six Gameweeks. The Blues boss reverted to his first-choice back-four as Filipe Luis dropped to the bench but despite his tinkering, Chelsea head into the upcoming trio of quick-fire Gameweeks in their most resilient form of the season – they’re up to eight shut-outs for the campaign now, joint-top with Southampton.

John Terry grabbed his first goal of the season to send his side three points clear of City. The Chelsea skipper headed into last night’s match as the only member of Jose Mourinho’s regular back-four without a goal or assist to his name but needed just two minutes to rectify that record after nodding home the winner. Priced at just 6.3 to Branislav Ivanovic’s 7.2, Terry now sits just five points behind the Serbian – an ownership of just 7% in the FPL game highlights his differential potential.

Costa’s Toils Continue

It’s a single goal in four appearances for the Blues popular striker, whose two-point return proved a bitter disappointment for his 59% of FPL owners. From Gameweek 8 onwards, Costa has managed just 24 points – granted, he missed three of those matches through injury and suspension but his inability to produce the goods is having a significant effect across the Fantasy games, with many managers captaining him on a regular basis. Costa was drafted in by over 360,000 in the previous three Gameweeks as a result of Sergio Aguero’s injury but many may be thinking twice after a weekend that saw a number of budget and mid-price forwards continue their fine form.

Does anyone else feel that money is surplus this year?

With budget players like Austin,Sakho,Siggy,Downing,Hutton,Wisdom etc.. easily outscoring most costlier players I always seem to have plenty of cash in the bank.

Another thing... I was eyeing up Sterling for Xmas - but after Rodgers said 'he will be given a break over Christmas' - I can't see how anyone would be bringing him in, yet I'm seeing him in teams. Was that an early transfer or -?

I was untill I saw Liverpool have a day less rest than other teams between SWA and LEI, but I have him in my team at least, one of the most nailed on players in FPL together with Hazard / Yaya etc

people asking about when ACON players will leave. Fifa rules state that countries can call up their players 14 days before their first game. So after the fa cup 3rd round players will start to leave

clubs can request special dispensation from the federations depending on when the country plays, so if a team kicks off the campaign later then more chance of player being around for jan 10-11

Yeah could be a good shout, I mean Naylor might get you some points, but it seems all Downing has to do is fart near the ball and he gets serious BPS. I'd say he has as much chance of a goal/assist as Naylor has as a CS. The difference being if Downing comes in his points explode.

I cannot vouch for West Brom, since I do not watch their games.

For villa, only SIX teams conceded less than them.

Take their track record as well, they only conceded more than ONE goal on SIX occasions in SEVEN-TEEN games.

Tell me how that's not solid. Anyway, in the 6 games which they conceded more than one game, it was from GW 5-10, where they had their star defenders injured, and played arsenal, chelsea, man city, everton, spurs and QPR.

            I rest my case.

              *conceded more than one goal.

Anyway I've nv said West Brom has a good defense, so bringing up in this discussion and trying to draw a link is a total logical fallacy.

Disagree, almost guaranteed to play the next 3 games and could do very well

I don't think he is almost guaranteed at all. Whereas Austin is and has great fixtures.

    2 FT's

    Duff & Costa > Zabaleta & Giroud

    Opinions?

Yeah I guess. No use selling him, and buying back at 4.6m as I want him GW 21 as part of a rotation pair.

What's the likelihood of McC playing tho?

            Considered Panti?

So Aguero will be back roughly at the same time that ACON players leave?
Something like Bony -> Aguero and Yaya -> Siggy/similar player might be the best move then

Exactly, though you will have a WC kicking about

I'm fearing that WC.. I properly screwed over my team with the one I used in GW3, afraid I'll do the same

WC will be used as late as possible to sort this out

    Foster
Baines . Azpill . Naylor (Hutton . Yun)
    Hazard (c) . Sanchez . Eriksen . Downing (Boyd)
Austin . Costa (vc) . Bony

I have 2 ft and 0.5 in the bank.. Think ill give Costa, Sanchez and Baines a final week in my team..
Therefore want to keep 2 FT's for next week (eying Bentekke and MCY cover)

Costa -> Giroud, Eriksen -> Sterling and Yun -> Zaba for -4 would be my one transfer.. but I can't go a week without a hit:D

thanks for the feedback man.. I ike Sterling but need to chose between him and Silva next week..

Gonna keep Costa and Eriksen for these tasty fixtures this week

If I remember correctly Krul + Panti is good, that's what I have now so I hope Krul is back for Pantis difficult fixtures..

5.9, cheapest defensive starter for Chelsea

        Have to disagree

Austin risen 0.2mil already since last GW! 😮

Any chance he'll rise again to go above £6mil by Boxing Day??

(sorry cant access fiso/tfpl at work)

No he hasn't, his price has been protected since he came back from suspension. Protection is removed tonight so at least one rise is pretty guaranteed, maybe two.

Jovetic back for the game on the 28th means a pretty sweet transfer for me:

    Bony > Jovetic
