Granville and I make a New Year return to the ScoutCast studio, battered and bruised by the events of Gameweek 20 which saw us both inexplicably bench Harry Kane and his 18-point haul.

Having wasted our big differential and haunted by constant reminders, my co-host and I struggle to make a recovery. Spitting the pips from our sour grapes, we do our best to justify our doomed decision-making, before attempting to salve the wounds with talk of the Winter Wildcard refresh around the usual batch of regulars.

Feel the frustration via this link or swallow the bitter pill via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Morning all. WC team below. Please rip part/ criticize/ praise as you see fit!
Thanks all for help over the past few days

    Courtois/ Hamer
    Trippier/Hutton/NTaylor/ PVA/ Wisdom
    Sanchez/Di Maria/Hazard/Siggy/Boyd
    Costa/RVP/Kane
    0.2ITB

    - Trippier can be Alderwield later (2 weeks)
    - RVP holding place for Aguero
-Chelsea GK over Terry due to cash
-Not sold on Ntaylor, had him since the start
    - Yes I love a cheap defence, served me well so far!

      Looks solid SAB.

If it were me I would be looking to find 0.4m to get Terry over Courtois though. Minimal save points on offer for the CHE keeper and Terry has a good goal threat.

      does this work?

Courtois, Hamer, Hutton/Naylor & Wisdom -> Foster, Myhill, Terry & Wasilewski

Really struggling with how to use my freebies this week - best I can come up with is:

    A) Zaba -> Trippier/Debuchy
    B) Hart -> Heaton
    C) Eriksen -> Chadli

All of these leave me enough cash to have the option of Silva/Austin -> Boyd/Aguero next week if the latter looks like starting.

    Any better ideas?

    Bank 0.1m, 2 Freebies

    Hart
    Terry, Zaba, Wisdom
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen
    Costa, Austin, Kane

    Elliot, Downing, Hutton, Chambers

Good to go or save FT lads?

    Forster
    Hutton JT Zaba
    Hazard Sanchez Eriksen Silva
    Kane Costa Austin

    4.0 Clyne Chester King

    2m ITB & 1 FT

    A) Get rid of Zaba
    B) Austin to Ings
    C) Austin to Jovetic
    D) save FT

Some Cardiff fans had a meeting with the chairman on Thursday evening and the vibe coming out is that a return to blue shirts is very likely. However it's only a few weeks since Vincent Tan said the club would never go back to blue while he was there.

Strange times - but welcome news. Owners changing the colour of a shirt for no better reason than they like it better shouldn't be allowed to happen again.

Vincent Tan is abit of an idiot.

He owns a company called MOL Global in Malaysia, listed it on Nasdaq and it swiftly became the worst performing IPO in recent times.

Everything he touches turns to shite.

He seems to have been in the right place at the right time early on in his career.

I was in an Indonesian shopping mall a couple of weeks ago. The only shop I saw closed was ecosway, which is part of his empire (and I only recognise it because it's heavily advertised at the Cardiff City Stadium).

Idiot is abit of an exaggeration...he has found plenty of success in his professional career.

But he really does struggle outside of his comfort zone. Kingpin in Malaysia but not playing it out well outside of it.

I thought half the reason was because they were winning with the red strip more than the blue one(around the time of the change)? Still, its an unusual reason to change it.

      1. Marknlard
        • 17 Years
        11 years, 7 months ago

The reason for the change, from the best of what has been said by Tan and those close to him since, is that he wanted to own a club that played in red. No economic reason has ever been given.

Not sure what you mean about the winning record, as Cardiff had always been blue before the rebrand. Had a red away shirt from time to time but I'm pretty sure that previous season had been a white away.

Oh ok. I thought it was one championship year when they were better away from home in red than they were at home in blue. Nevermind, Tan is just weird.

Any Aussies subscribed to Foxsports EPL On Demand? They're offering it for $49 for the rest of the season, 4 live matches streamed each week plus the other 6 available on highlights. Sounds good, but was wondering about the reliability & quality of the live steams etc. Any good?

    1. waldo666
      • 15 Years

I watch it on my PC through Foxtel Go Fitzy.....good quality but can stutter sometimes and throw you out of whack, comes back to the same point in the game but then isn't live anymore (delayed by however long it stutters for) but you can get it back to live with the press of a button. This is thorugh my oldies' subscription so doesn't cost anything, mind you I would probably pay the pineapple for the rest of the year depending on how many matches you expect to watch I spose

I use it and it is really good quality wise; perfect HD. The main negative is as you stated with only 4 live games. Further to this, sometimes they will have two of the live games on at the same time. Unfortunately, it's the best we can get in Aus, and I still think it is worth it.

NP, it really is quite good value for money. You should know, however, that the games chosen to be shown live appear to be random, so you never know what teams to expect live. It's not as if the big teams are favoured.

    Costa, Austin, Kane

RVP to Aguero soon, am I right that Aguero will be price locked for a while ? I dont want to do this transfer until after Chelsea City game, but 0.1 itb could be a problem

Debuchy and Jones can become Bertrand and Lescott/Wisdom later down the line, just dont like SOT and WBA fixtures this month

Bit worried of 3x CHE 3x ARS and 3x UTD but all have decent immediate fixtures and RVP is just a Ageuro placeholder

P.Jones' spot could be Trippier, Lescott, Alderwied or Janmaat but with funds to spare and a strong front 8 why try to second guess a lower team when i can get into United's tightened up defence

    Thoughts ?

I like it a lot mate. Long term i wouldnt have 3 arsenal and 3 united but see you have plans in place

As you said, Debuchy and Jones could be downgraded but dont see what you do with the cash. Onr of these to Trippier would tempt me because of fixtures but it a coin toss.

Doing the same with RVP to Aguero, unsure on price thing, maybe price frozen for 10 days when flag removed? Not sure.

      1. Jay_
        11 years, 7 months ago

Yep Trippier is the one the player i really want, but at the same time i have the Heaton/Panti rotation for these great fixtures so maybe a BUR double up would be a step too far, dont mind PVA double up with Panti for their good homes coming as SUN are far more resolute than BUR, thanks for feedback mate

I like it, too. I'm not in love with Hutton or Taylor given their short-term fixtures, but it's hard to find better value. But, as La Roja mentioned, if you go JT instead of Iva, maybe you can upgrade one or both of Hutton/Taylor.

I held off on Rooney because of the matchup. If ADM does play, I, for some reason, feel like it will be a better type of game for him. Rooney will likely be tucked back, while ADM will have license to bomb forward. Of course, that's if he plays. I just feel he will, but no way to really know until it comes.

That as well. Too many goal scorers and assisters at United is also a problem. Points will be spread around and ADM doesn't have much of a goal threat. Then there is his ridiculous price tag

Them fixtures nice, though, and if he can go on a run like he did early in the season, then he'll be golden. He's had some rest now. Should be raring to go.

I know one thing. When I didn't have him early on when he was on his streak, it was painful. He was so dangerous during that run that it soon became clear I had to pick him up. That's kind of what I'm hoping for now. Sometimes, you gotta take a risk in this game....and this one, I think, is educated enough for me to feel good about it. You could be right, though. 'Tis hard to predict these things.

He had an unsustainable record though. Something like 6 shots and having scored from 4 of them or something ridiculous. It was never sustainable and its typical of his general lack of goal threat.

Worthy thought process, that. I like the thought of assists coming his way if nothing else. Some good talent to dish it to, and like I said, the fixtures are pretty dandy. Guess we will see how it all unfolds. Interesting to see how Man U comes together in general. Lots of talent up front, and while the defense hasn't exactly been letting in tons of goals, it is interesting to think what the team could be with a stronger backline. I think LVG is getting the club back in shape.

If I were to use an analogy, Manchester United is like a vintage, classic car that mixes style with power. The car fell into a bit of disrepair as of late, but the improvements that need to be made to get it back to its former glory are....well....being made.

And with that price decrease, Azpilcueta's value increased. 6.1m for a Chelsea defender now. Awesome.

His price decreased for a reason. Faces constant rotation risk from Luis and doesn't offer much going forward.

Mourinho loves Azpilcueta. He should play nearly all matches. I'm happy to take 1-2 benches over the season, he doesn't make cameos.

Azpil is pretty good at getting baps and does venture forward quite often.

Azpi out for me. He's my third Chelsea player and I want Hazard in for Yaya.

Yeah, I hoped he'd got his rotation out of the way before the xmas fixtures. Think it might be more of the same in future, but if you don't need the funds or a third Chelsea spot then why not hold.

          I wouldn't be, not from a 6.1m defender.

Yes he gets the odd BAP, but he often prefers to pass it to Hazard instead of crossing, hence little attacking threat.

    2. fedolefan
      • 12 Years

You lot are a fickle bunch. Azpi is solid value at 6.1m. Sure, those 15 pointers from Terry are much preferred, but 4-5 games with no Terry goals and suddenly you're looking at Azpi with envy given the 0.5m+ price difference.

Before Terry went on his goal scoring run, Azpi was the che defender every one was recommending. Terry owners were fairly annoyed when Azpi got the assist and scored 7 more points over 3 matches. Of course, Azpi's will appear useless if Terry keeps on scoring, but let's also have a discussion when Terry stops scoring.

Excellent point. Terry has only recently usurped Azpi as the 1st choice Chelsea defender. People have short-term memories I guess. Luis had a few starts over xmas so that probably shook people up too.

I much prefer A, added attacking theat with Terry, PVA and Trippier roatate prefect for 10 weeks, so Wasi and Hutton will contend for the last spot, both playing regularly, and thats if you dont play PVA or Trippier away and with their attcking threat i dint see why not, If Pulis effect kicks in Foster Myhill could be lovely too
