Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are back for Arsenal. Leighton Baines is expected to return for Everton’s home clash with City, though Sylvain Distin is ruled out for the Merseysiders. Villa skipper Ron Vlaar is out for up to six weeks with a knee injury. Tim Krul is expected to return for Newcastle’s weekend trip to Stamford Bridge, Brendan Rodgers hopes to have Daniel Sturridge back at some point this month, whilst Marouane Chamakh could be set to return for Palace.

Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini are all available for Arsenal’s clash with Stoke after returning to training, though Danny Welbeck has been ruled out by Arsene Wenger.

Robert Martinez has ruled Sylvain Distin out of the visit of Man City this weekend, with the defender picking up a groin problem against the Hammers in midweek. Elsewhere, the Blues boss has confirmed that Leighton Baines missed the midweek tie with a knock, though is expected to be fully fit for the weekend.

Aston Villa have been rocked by the news that captain Ron Vlaar will miss the next four to six weeks of action with a knee injury. Meanwhile, Nathan Baker, Kieran Richardson and Gabby Agbonlahor are all expected to return in time for the trip to Leicester.

Tim Krul made his return from injury for Newcastle’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Celtic on Thursday evening. The Dutch stopper played 45 minutes, and went on to reveal that he feels good and hopes to be in contention for the meeting with Chelsea on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Daniel Sturridge is in the final stages of his recovery, and hopes the striker will be available again “at some point in January.”

Leicester midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has been ruled out of the weekend visit of Villa through injury, after the Argentine was withdrawn early on in the Foxes’ cup victory over Newcastle last week. In more positive news, fellow midfielder Danny Drinkwater may be in contention to train on Friday having come off injured against Liverpool, whilst Dean Hammond and Andy King have both made a return to training ahead of the weekend visit of Aston Villa.

Burnley skipper Jason Shackell will hope to prove his fitness in time for the weekend, after missing the midweek tie against Spurs with a calf injury. Clarets boss Sean Dyche is optimistic that the defender will train with the squad today, and is expected to make a judgement call on the skipper’s availability for the weekend. Fellow centre-back Michael Duff has also returned to training following injury, and will also be looking to prove his fitness ahead of the visit of QPR.

Alan Pardew could be handed a boost for his first home match in charge of Palace, with reports indicating that Marouane Chamakh could be set to make the squad for the visit of Tottenham.

Would a defence of Pva Alderweireld Hutton Wisdom Bruce be too light on a wildcard do we think? Allows for a front 8 of

    ADM, Haz, Fab, Sanchez, Boyd
    Kane, Aguero, Costa.

Front 8 makes up for the light defence. Nothing wrong with that imo. Risky as it is trying to pick clean sheets.

I wouldn't go without a Chelsea Def mate. I can see mourinho tightening up loads as the season progresses. Bruce is the def I'd switch as can't see him playing much now dawson back. I can see the desire of that front 8 though.

Came to pretty much the same thing except Bertrand instead of Alder.

      Gave me this:

      Panti Mannone
      Bert Hutton Wisdom PvA 3.9
      Sanchez Hazard Fab AdM Boyd
      Aguero Costa Kane.

You could downgrade a chelsea mid and upgrade a defender to terry if need be.

      Food for thought! 🙂

Ditching Costa says your happy to captain Hazard as your Chelsea option every time.

There have been peaks and troughs.

Costa was the better captain option.

          Recently it has been Hazard.

          It will change again.

The lack of Baps for Costa really dents his appeal as a Captain choice. A goal for Haz (C) could mean 18-20 points whereas for Costa you're looking at around 12 (10 for YC!). Yes he has the potential of scoring double figures but he hasn't done that consistently. Hazard also on Pens.

In the 17 weeks the have both played its 11 - 6 in Hazards favour.

The period of real form for Hazard vs Costa's blip in form and fitness being a key factor.

I'm not arguing about baps or pens we all know that stuff.

All I'm saying is not having Costa is losing a captaincy option, an increasingly differential one.

At the moment I have Hazard, Fabregas and Terry non-WC team. I don't really value Costa and prefer the double up on mids instead but seeing as there aren't that many forwards in form, I can see why people are picking him. We have a few weeks to see how Chelsea react after their loss to Spurs so sit back and hold tight!

Is Austin fixture proof? He has already scored against Chelsea, Man city and Arsenal. Why are people getting rid of him on WC. His fixtures are not great but surely he's capable of scoring a couple or am I missing something?

Will be playing my WC in a couple of weeks. Really tempted by Yaya --> Sterling who's got Sunderland and Villa in his next 2. What are people's thoughts? Safer to go ADM?

Of course you are missing Alexis but if Wally starts firing you could do Fab to Wally later

I´d bench Wisdom only because bar Azpi he is the least likely to get any points forward of the bunch

Drop Jones in my opinion. Southampton look to be back in form a bit, and although they are playing at OT, may still score. He also doesn't offer much going forward. Everton not in form, Wisdom playing a fairly weak side, Azpi at home.

Which two of the three strikers to play?

    Kane (Palace - Away)
    Austin (Burnley - Away)
    Benteke (Leicester - Away)

    current midfield five is
    Chadli / Hazard / Fàbregas / Sterling / Sánchez
so don't really see who I'd drop there either

I would probably play Kane and Austin. They are the more in form choices. So at least if Benteke performs better you know you made the right choice and just got a bit unlucky. I am a bit worried about Pardew's affect in his first game in charge of Palace, but then again, Kane just destroyed Chelsea so...anything is possible. Austin hasn't been as prolific recently and will be looking to get back on target before some tougher games including United. That's just my two cents. Good luck.

Ok I'm done now I think on wildcard 0.4 ITB anything I should change or improve?

    Foster/panti

    Clyne/Hutton/Debuchy/Dummett/Creswell

    Walcott/fab/sterling/silva/ADM

    Costa/Kane/Austin

Would try and find a way to get in a Chelsea defender and do you have a plan for getting Kun in or are you now fussed about him in the short term?

I'd maybe suggest ADM > Siggy/ Chadli and do Debuchy > Chelsea defender

Also Walcott is a risk as game time is unknown at present and not having Sanchez could sting you.
