Speaking of cheap chelsea players, Filipe Luis? How many weeks would Azpi have to be out to tempt you and then switch to Azpi later. A bit more attacking than Azpi too

Why go back to Azpi? Surely you would swap to someone a bit more likely to play?

Players getting benched frequently really annoys me. So I would buy a defender from a different team myself

3-5-2 WC team draft, what do you think ?

    Panti
    Terry Alderweireld (Baird/Wasi/Bruce)
    Haz Fab Sanchez Walcott AdM
    Aguero Kane

    Bench : Hamer VazTe?

I've benched Boyd every time he's had a big haul, benched Kane last week and Downing this time. So I'm thinking of investing in a strong front 7, couple of good defenders and have an uber rotation for last spot and first two bench positions. Thoughts ?

Yeah like the idea of this always good to have 8th attacker you will never really play.

only worry would have with 3 defenders are is bruce/Baird nailed on?

Is Azpilicueta -> Baines worth a 1 week punt? Or should I just go with Ivan/Terry?

Team is a mess right now but trying to hold on to the wildcard for one more game week. So I was wondering if Baines could be a good option for this week. Also this move would be for a hit.

    Put it this way.

Why would Jose "rest" a centre-back when there's no midweek games on either side of the Newcastle game?

Cahill has been almost certainly dropped imo.

    3. In Bale We Trust

Cahill has played a lot of consecutive matches and was in need of a rest. Jose saw a nice easy home game against a ravaged Newcastle team as an opportunity to do that. Generally Jose is not a manager who likes splitting his defensive partnerships. He almost always has a pair and sticks with them for consistency.

I think the biggest issue is if Jose thinks Cahill is good enough to be in the first team. He's been really average this season. I don't know if its the World Cup taking effect but he's been a shadow of his former self of last season. Apart from Azpi, the whole backline itself lacks any ability to counter counterattacks with pace as seen in the Spurs and Everton games.

Zouma has his weaknesses but has the ability to counter pace. Was very impressed by his performance in the first half yesterday when our midfield was in complete shambles.

Cahill has been abysmal this season him & William bring down the team's standard.
Both the only anomalies on Chelsea, statistically Cahill has been on the wane in every aspect of his game since his first season.

Cahill has been lucky no one (other than Zouma now) has been there to compete for his spot so far. Otherwise I think Mou would've benched him ages ago.

Chelsea need more competition for the centere-backs imo
If there's one transfer they need, it's that,

Ayoze and Sissoko pace may be a factor for his dropping to avoid another Hurri Kane,
But Cahill was not rested for sure, he was dropped.
And with Zouma's performance yesterday he deserve to start ahead of Cahill for now.

On the Zouma needs experience theory, he's started a lot of CL and Cup games this season. And he has looked pretty good alongside Cahill/JT.

The gate between Ivano and Cahill has been our biggest weak link in defence. And the Spurs game could have been the breaking point for Jose to spark this change.

Aye, totally agree you with there mate, whoever's in the hole has a good base to rank up points.

Fabs point ceiling being lower than Costa is a bit iffy IMO. True, ideally Fab would be in the hole, but this will likely not be probable with Oscar naied.

Both bring in 6 points consistently, Fab having 3 double digit hauls(one in the hole), & Costa having 3 as well. Though one should also take things at face value, Fabregas is still the third highest scoring mid, & that's with generally low explosiveness compared to other goal scoring mids. For that reason I understand why it might lessen his appeal.

In any case, based on this season so far, Fab provides way more value. Especially for those who got him at 9.0 (9.7 now) vs Costa 10.5m (11.2 now), little to now value to be had in the latter.

Neither are good captaincy choices imo with Hazard at the Chelsea helm.
I can't fathom how Costa warrants his value throughout the end if the season.
Realistically he'll smash in +20 goals in total, but he has the lowest points-per-goal (if you may) in the game. With all his YC semantics & poor BAPs potential, you're looking at 5 to 6 points max IMO.

What do folk think about a Kane, Pelle and Aguero front 3? I was thinking of WCing now otherwise Aguero gets too expensive.

Was looking at Kane, Falcao and Aguero but my defense looks so appalling.

This is what I'm seriously considering. Pelle's fixtures are good and he has a nose for a goal as well all know. Three reasonably leaky defences he's coming up against next.

I do think the trade is worth it in general but your wildcard status would have an impact on whether I think a hit is worthwhile

I think it would be interesting to play this game without prices for players for a while. I think high value players sometimes get perceived as being better in part because they have the pricetag

It is like the debate people have been having comparing Costa and Austin who are 5 millionish apart in value yet people are more willing to drop Austin even though he has more points than Costa and ownership of Costa is roughly double that Austin. Part of which is down to the potential of Chelsea as a force as well

This is going to be my WC team :-

    Pantilimon | Heaton
    Clichy | Bertrand | Baird | Naylor | Bertrand
Fabregas | Hazard | Di Maria | Sanchez | Siggy
    Kane | Austin | Aguero

Good enough or maybe any suggestion? Cheers

What do ye think of these Pre WC moves,

    2 Ft's, 3.0 in account.. 2 WC's if that is any help.

    1. Aguero/Boyd in for Austin/Sterling..
    2. Aguero-Costa and 1 more FT (Maybe change Cahill or Zaba to Baines or some Price Riser)
    3. Something else..
    4. Unleash My 1st WC.

Thinking of Option 2, with Baines in..

    Guzan, Gilks
    Zabaleta, Cahill, Wisdom, Naylor, Clyne
    Hazard, Sanchez, Siggy, Sterling, Downing
    Austin (6.1), Costa (11.1), Kane

    1. Eze Really?
      • 11 Years
      11 years, 1 month ago

I would be slightly concerned about Cahill who could have been dropped rather than rrested. A gamble for Zouma or a safe call on Terry.
      Goalkeepers could be stronger.
Is the team your team at the moment?
