With Gameweek 21 done and dusted, we dig deep into the data in our regular Sunday evening article. A trio of in-form midfielders at Arsenal, Man City and Swansea are amongst tonight’s topics, whilst we also assess United’s alarming attack, Burnley’s raiding right-back and the main men for West Brom and Palace as Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew kick-start their respective stints at the helm with a victory.

    On my WC. Thinking of having few planned short term punts

    Foster
    Terry Clyne Baines PvA Hutton
    Hazard Sanchez AdM Chadli Boyd
    Kun Kane Austin

    1. Baines Chadli to Baird Cesc in 2 weeks.
    2. 2.2m ITB. Should I Boyd -> Siggy
    3. Not sure on AdM (qpr LEI). Is Silva (ARS che) better?

        Silva could rip Arsenal up, and Man u not great away. The game after next week should be Di Marias but you never know

          I'd probably play Silva in both the above games if I had him but if there was the option between ADM up against QPR and Leicester or Silva up against Arsenal and Chelsea, I'd choose ADM 8 days a week.

            Thing is ADM looked rusty last game.

            And Silva is on form especally with Yaya is off and Kun is back.

    Sorry at bottom of last...

    Foster - Myhill
    Terry - Clyne - Cameron - Wisdom - PVA
    Hazard - Sanchez - ADM - Silva - JWP
    Kun - Austin - Kane

    Silva/JWP --> Fab/Boyd worthwhile? Thoughts appreciated!

    Hmm, fear is driving me towards getting Aguero in. But not sure how. For free, or take a punt. Will prob captain Kun too.

    Guzan Elliot
    Terry P.Jones Clyne Wisdom Hutton
    Sanchez Hazard Silva Siggy Downing
    Costa Kane Austin

    3.8 bank, 1 FT

    Will WC next week - so far a one week decision....

    A) Costa > Aguero(c) for free
    B) Silva, Austin > Chadli (SUN), Aguero (ars) for -4
    C) Silva, Austin > Zaha (bur), Aguero(ars) for a -4

          For defenders...I wouldn't take that ownership % with a little bit of salt. Plenty have at least 1 Southampton defender, so would use average Southampton defender ownership as a proxy.

      Give it a week IMO, if Alder's injury is serious, then I'm pretty sure he'll be uncontested for the CB spot with Yoshida now in the Asian cup

      I would give him a run for sure, obviously a short term punt though.. Prepare for Yoshida's & Alder's
      re-entry to coincide soon

    Hmm for next week's WC, might have to opt for the cunning James Ward-Prowse (4.8) & opt out of Boyd (4.7) on my WC draft.

    Could be a real bargain with JWP's run & if he manages even 60 mins a game

            Yes. But is that a good idea? I already sold Austin on my WC so I will be paying an extra .2 for a player I had one day ago.

            Plus Austin only has 1 home fixture against a team in the bottom half of the league remaining.

        Yep, still a long way to go. Normally have shocking starts though so it's a nice change!

        I need to make up circa 4 points on the field each week, which is doable with the right captaincy picks.

              Top 1K would be nice but I seem to be missing a trick or two this year with other things going on. Kept Benteke and 2 FTs instead of getting Kane last week.
              Too early in the week for those. If Kun is a captain option then C or D perhaps.

      Well Moin, can't say I didn't tell warn you before about looking for differentials/punts for the sake of it and ignoring strong FPL players just because they're highly owned.

      No matter, just sort it out with a good WC with 1-2 strong differentials and you'll be fine. The template is very strong in the top 10k so all you need is for 1 or 2 differentials to fire while the template blanks.

    I'm planning to use my WC this week.

    Current team:

    Guzan
    Iva - Wisdom - Bertrand
    Hazard - Sterling - Silva - Alexis
    Costa - Kane - Austin

    Subs: Myhill, Dummet, Bentaleb, Long

    WC team

    Guzan
    Terry - Bertrand - Wisdom
    Chadli - Hazard - Alexis - Downing
    Kun - Costa - Kane

    Subs: Myhill, Boyd, Dumment, Long

    For a free, for one week...

    a) Jovetic->Aguero
    b) Evans->Bertrand
    c) both for a hit now
    d) both for free next GW

    Haven't had either long enough for value to matter.

    My team is

    Moving on....morning all, and isn't it a fine morning (Sanchez(c) er) 🙂

    Tricky decision to make this week though - 2 FTs, 1.4m in the bank and I plan to WC next week, so punts are in order.

    Best option here?

    A) Debuchy & Chambers -> Cresswell & Jags
    B) Debuchy & Austin -> Baines & Ings
    C) Silva & Austin -> Albrighton & Kun
    D) Debuchy & Costa -> Reid & Kun

    According to the RMT tool it has B>A>D>C , with C being by far the worst (yet this was the favoured option when I posted earlier on)....

    Hart
    Terry, Hutton, Wisdom
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen
    Costa, Kane, Austin

    Elliot, Downing, Chambers, Debuchy

      You only need 11 players for a punt week so consider your first team only. I like Baines as an option but I think Aguero is an absolute necessity if you want the potential for explosive returns

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

        A fully fit Aguero is an absolute must, I agree.

        But, will he play 90 mins this week? I doubt it. Probably a start and withdrawn after 60-70 mins is my guess.

        Also, we looked decent yesterday, and with Kos back and the team in reasonable form I'm not so sure we will get battered like everyone expects.

    3. Jay_
      11 years, 7 months ago

      B is by far the best as a 1 week punt, but you have to consider if you want Austin back on a WC , how much value will you lose if you sell and buy straight back

        Also, B does leave me with quite a benching headache this week. Downing (HUL) I guess but that looks dangerous.

      A, for me. Or D

      I think your attacks looks solid, but Debuchy/Chambers might not even play, and if they do it'll be against Man City.

      Double up baird n wisdom. Take out foster maybe. Having a wba def as a sub brings me more confident than a lei def even if it results in benched pts

    Suggestions on my WC team please:

    Foster - Heaton
    Terry - Bert - Clyne - Wisdom - Wasil
    Sanchez - Haz - Fab - Silva - Boyd
    Aguero - Austin - Kane

    0.2 in the bank

    Most people seem to be trying to fit as many big hitters as possible... I actually have the opposite conundrum. I love good value players and usually I get them all and choose big hitters based on fixtures and captaincy.

    I want chadli, Downing, Sig, Austin & Kane Obviously I can't have them all without loads of money in the bank which I also don't want!

      I love gd value defenders becos nth beats getting a cs from a 3.9m rather than spending 6+ for a chelsea def

      Nothing wrong with that and having money in the bank. You need to drop one of those midfielders to accomodate Hazard and Sanchez but you'll have cash for a strong D

      Not really serious rumour but keep hearing of Bale to United, to put more fuel on the fire Bale was getting some stick from Madrid fans for being ball greedy and Ronaldo is sulking with him, would love to see that happen

    I think Van Gaal should realize that when United started their Winning Run..Rooney was playing forward and not a Mid! Since He started putting Rooney back in Mid Position they have end up with 2 Draws and a Lost

      problem with too many 'star' strikers in the squad and trying to fit in all..rooney is a proven striker for united..

    -4 would give me this team

    Guzan,
    Baines, Zabaleta, 4.8 def (Wisdom, Naylor)
    Haz, Downing, Siggy, Sanchez (Boyd)
    Kun, Costa, Kane

    Should I just play -4?

    Who would you bench from this lot?

    Hazard (swa)
    Sanchez (mcy)
    Eriksen (SUN)
    Silva (ARS)
    Downing (HUL)
    Costa (swa)
    Kane (SUN)
    Ings (CPL)

    I have no idea. Downing probably the least explosive, but he has a plum fixture. I refuse to bench Sanchez despite what the RMT tool says!
