With Gameweek 21 done and dusted, we dig deep into the data in our regular Sunday evening article. A trio of in-form midfielders at Arsenal, Man City and Swansea are amongst tonight’s topics, whilst we also assess United’s alarming attack, Burnley’s raiding right-back and the main men for West Brom and Palace as Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew kick-start their respective stints at the helm with a victory.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Like it. Not sure about DDG however, think you could save a few with Panti/Mannone and then maybe Silva to Fab?

I'm not sure about DDG either tbh, he's one of the players that was in the team pre-wildcard. I have 0.4 itb so Silva to Fabregas is achievable...

Very good, not sure if I would double on Southampton personally. You are one of the few to not have 3 Chelsea.

As above, I'm tempted to do Silva > Fabregas & change the keeper, it's just choosing that keeper!

    Potential WC team...

    Foster - Myhill
    Bertrand - Wisdom - PVA - Naylor - Hutton
    Sanchez - Hazard - ADM - Chadli - Boyd
    Aguero - Costa - Kane

Alternatively, I could go Costa/Chadli/Naylor --> Austin/Fabregas/Terry but like the thought of having Costa..

I find it ironic how Gerrard is viewed as one of the best midfielders of all time in every country...but England.

      11 years, 2 months ago

Who sees him as one of the best midfielders of all time?! People who think Sky invented football? Just with central midfielders in his generation alone, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Pirlo, Scholes, Vieira, Keane, Makelele, Seedorf (a few off the top of my head).

Yes, that was central midfielders alone, not including attacking midfielders (Zidane, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho et al).

Sure, you can add quite a few players to that list if you go further back in history. Doolittle just was listing better players in Gerrard's generation, and Keane and Zidane were already pushing it. Maradona and Platini can't in any way be in "same generation".

I would disagree on Rivaldo though. Extremely overrated player, who had pretty much 2-3 strong seasons and was handed a Ballon d'Or because of hype rather than merits. The rest of his career he spent as a big player for small clubs. Gerrard at least was a star and a leader for a relatively big club all his career.

Don't get me wrong, Gerrard at his peak was a great player, but he lacked the positional awareness and, dare I say it, "footballing intelligence" at times. Of course, in 2005 he drove his team to great things, but his Roy of the Rovers style can be costly (see the Chelsea game last season when, after his mistake, he lost all discipline and started charging forward and shooting from everywhere).

Busquets is obviously a very different player, but he has an understated brilliance that allows Barca to tick, particularly in the Guardiola era.

Agree on this. Busquets is very underrated (probably because of his disgusting antics), and Gerrard was always a liability for England.

Bringing in Debuchy and Alderwiereld in my WC last week didn't turn out well:) Still, probably my first bit of bad luck this season as I have dropped from 24th to 26th with a score of 69. So, no complaints.

So, are Chambers and Gardos now serious options? I've already made my transfer (Giroud -> Aguero) so I think i'll stick this week, play Terry, Trippier and Van Aarnolt and ship one of them out next week.

All jokes aside, nice rank bud. Gardos short term and debuchy for Jan and Feb and we all know how Arsenal are during Feb. I would stay clear personally

No Sanchez cost me 3.5k to 8.3k in one single swoop 🙁 does this still look good or just silly?

Rooney + Downing + Zabaleta > Aguero + Sanchez + Bertrand -4 WC still intact

All nice moves. Captain Aguero and that 4 point hit should be covered easily

This goes against the grain, but I would not bring in Sanchez and Aguero yet. Neither one of them this GW.

And please, Downing plays Hull! He will score more points than Aguero and Sanchez combined.

Just play the WC now then? Get the early price rises. Whats stopping you? Potential injuries or big transfers? Take the -4 in the future if any of these happen. You may end up only making 2 or 3 transfers in your WC which seems a waste....just a thought. You will be 4 points better off.

fabregas imo. but tough choice looking at recent scores. i think silva might not benefit from aguero returning

    Big two-part dilemma this week:

    1) Do I put Aguero in? I feel like all of my strikers have decent fixtures this week, but also pretty sure this is the last week I could capitalise on Kun as a differential in my mini-leagues before everybody has him.
    2) Who on earth do I bench out of this front 8?

    Chadli/Hazard/Sanchez/Downing/Silva
    Austin/Carroll/Kane

WC Active. Not sure whether to squeeze Sanchez in or not. Would need to find 1.7M to do ADM to Sanchez. Thoughts? Obv Clichy out but would need to do more as well

Currently with 0.2M in the bank:

    Panti (Foster)

    Clyne, PVA, Hutton, Wisdom, Clichy

    Silva, Downing, Fabregas, ADM, Ameobi

    Aguero, Costa, Kane.

Downgrade Clichy and replace Panti with Myhill?

Don't like the idea of having a useless standby GK though. Clichy to a 3.9m defender like Waskeleckiish or Baird (will he play though?) will get me to within an agonising 0.1m of Sanchez.

Leaves doubts about my defence though

do you plan to play both the Southampton boys every week or just one sometimes? Suppose you look at the fixture

Only Clyne in there, although Southampton have just shown that they can potentially get a CS anywhere

Maybe downgrade Silva and Clichy and upgrade ADM to Sanchez?

Clichy to 3.9m defender? Then need just 0.1m to afford Sanchez from ADM. Clichy won't gain 0.1m again this week I think (which would let me afford Sanchez) so maybe Foster and Hutton -> Guzan and Geoff Cameron?

Austin > Aguero for a FT?

Or Costa > Aguero and pocket the cash and keep Austin on the Wildcard..

I'd rather have Costa than Austin if you can find a way to afford Costa and Aguero without damaging your team.
