Aguero and Kane. I'm using a 3-5-2 with Sanchez, Hazard, Di Maria, Sterling and Tadic. In hindsight I should have benched Tadic. Will probably play Bojan (QPR) over Kane (wba) next week.

They'll be a decent amount of prices rises. Good time to do if if you don't have the greatest TV. Every .1M counts. Especially with these cheaper defenders.

    Thoughts?

    Heaton - Hamer
    Ivan - Bertrand - Wisdom - PVA - Baird
    Sanchez - Hazard - Fabregas - Silva - Larsson/Elia/Puncheon
    Aguero - Gayle - Kane

Tempted to risk ruining my team to get Costa in, even though my head says it's not worth it.

Stoke don't score enough for me to want Bojan. They've averaged about a goal a game, so could be a good differential. Gayle appears to be on form though.

    I've just spent about 2 hours on my wildcard considering fixtures, captain options, rotation of defence to maximise bargains and how I ensure I always have a solid 3/4 good fixtures mainly homes at the back for the forseeable future, how I can minimise wastage of funds on the benchand how I can maximise big hitters. Now, should I;

    A) Stick to my chosen squad, knowing a lot of thought went into it and each player is in the squad for a reason and the lineup any given week offers a solid defence with good home fixtures, a home big hitting captain with a pretty easy fixture and very little money on my bench

    Or

    B) Post a RMT and change everything based on the comments of a couple off replies from people who have given 2 seconds thought to how the squad will rotate and what fixtures they have etc.

Main Chelsea attackers and their frequency of production, for what it's worth.

    Blanks (0-3 pts) - Returns (4-9) - Hauls (10+) - Did Not Play

    Costa 6-9-4-3
    Hazard 10-7-5-0
    Fabregas 7-11-3-1
    Oscar 8-6-4-4

Make of it what you will, but Hazard owners might just need to take these odd stretches of blanks on the chin since the explosiveness is often right there.

    Costa. Yes him.

Sold him for one week while he was suspended. I've captained him 10 times in 22 GWs. I've read all the justifications about selling him because of lack of BPs and lack of assists and yellow cards.

I've had bad GWs where I captained him and he got 5 points and Silva, Hazard, ADM, Rooney, etc. etc. have scored better.

But, damn, the guy is a beast. What a phenomenal first season in the PL. He's just going to keep on scoring and sure, Aguero still has more upside as a captain pick sometimes. But all the talk of Costa being un-captain able has been put to bed today.

He nearly always scores once. No BPs, 5 points fair enough. But that means he's only one kick of the ball away from a brace and a guaranteed 13 point haul. And it will happen more often, now, as Chelsea push for the title.

Madness not have him, madness not to be considering him if you're on WC.

And yes, I captained him today 🙂 so terms and conditions apply when you read this post regarding bias 😀

Going for Costa would have earned me 14 points today.

It would also have meant having Debuchy, Hutton, Cameron, Wasil in my team.

I was all ready with my bias argument 😉

I've only owned Costa for 15 games this season, despite having him in my starting team for GW 1. If it wasn't an issue of ownership, I would probably feel fine about maintaining my fab + haz combo. Yet today just proved how much not owning a player with 60% ownership can bite you, especially one as consistent (scoring wise) as Costa. Still think I'll hold off though.

While I agree with your premise, I don't think its as clear cut as you might suggest.

Yep, I deliberately left out the ownership side of things as I didn't want to come across as a dullard 😉

I honestly think it is quite clear cut. Who would bet against him being top goal scorer this season, given Aguero s injury record? All it will take is 2/3 more braces instead of single goal GWs and he will easily be top FPL points scorer this season.

    6. Ruth_NZ
      • 11 Years

      Here's a bit more:

27 league goals in La Liga last season (1 less than Messi)
8 CL goals last season (same as Messi)
Selected in last season's UEFA CL squad of the season
Has had to adapt from playing in a counter-attack based team (Atleti) to a possession team (Chelsea)
Is only achieving full fitness in the last 4 weeks for the first time this season

We haven't seen the best of him yet. But everyone that has blown their wildcard in the rush to get a player that has only played 24 minutes since returning from an injury he cannot possibly be 100% recovered from yet, transferring Costa out in the process, won't want to hear any of this.

My last couple of GWs have been thoroughly average (or below) but I didn't notice this until just now:

    GW 18: Giroud (C): -4
    GW 19: Austin (C): 4
    GW 20: Silva (C) 4
    GW 21: Hazard (C): 6
    GW 22: Kane (C): 4

I hadn't realised how good I was at this game 😎

I presume there are others? Please, make me feel better 😛

      Bony: 4
      Austin: 4
      Austin: 4
      Hazard: 6
Kun: Remains to be seen 😉

For both our sakes, just as a mere Kun owner, let alone captainer, I hope he explodes tomorrow.

Only counts at the end of the GW. Plenty of potential left.

Agree with this. If you don't own Costa you want players left as much as a few more points.

Robert Allenby an Australian golfer was kidnapped last night in Hawaii. He was then beaten up robbed of all his possessions and left in the middle of nowhere.

Actually I think you have a chance. All depends on Downing really but he does have a very good fixture.

For years Phil's been whipping them in in training. So finally the boys got together in and the gaffer of course isn't scared to try anything if he believes in it. He sort of enjoys it actually, especially if it comes off. Almost as much if it doesn't it seems strangely. But after today we realized it was really nothing more than an exercise in stupidity." - Ryan Giggs

Stoke are terrible at back! Steer clear! Same with burnley, qpr and Leicester. Doesn't matter how good fixtures look, there still crap at the back
