I meant top of the page. I don't see Everton scoring and he's been getting consistent attacking returns

So much for the Pulis-effect. United lucky again. Colback on my bench cus Wenger decided to give Walcott 10 minutes. Great joys of fpl-football.

United aren't lucky, they have a knack of getting late goals to save/win matches, its what they do.

Under Ferguson. LvG doesnt posess the same power. I couldnt even be bothered to watch the game today, seeing as LvG has managed to turn plenty of great players into a collective of disfunctional turtles.

Yep, agree with the second half of that post. He's managed to save a few points this year from late goals and to compare this season with Ferguson's career at United is a bit premature. Fergie struggled a bit in his first season at the helm too.

Compared to their general performances, United have done pretty damn well in terms of points aquired. I honestly think they have been piss poor most games, but they somehow come out on top - which is ofcourse a good thing, im just not convinced its very sustainable. Comparing LvG`s start as United manager to SAF`s is pretty irrelevant, those were some very different times. LvG has spent some insane amounts of money, and if were beeing completely honest, i think you can argue that none of them have really come to fruition. Sure ADM has had some great games, but he has imo been very average for the majority of his time at United, especially when you consider his stature and his price tag. Him who i considered the "worst" purchase and the most average player of the ones brought in, is the one actually performing the best - Daley Blind.

Yep, if you have a short term view than I agree with your point. It will take a while for LVG to get United functioning properly, especially with so many new players. He said it would take 6 months, it will actually take longer. In a few seasons this same United sign will be a different beast and LVG's signings and philosophy will start to look a whole lot better.

Actually he asked for 3 months before passing judgement. Ofcourse theres a transition period when you fill the void left by the best club manager the world has ever seen, then stepped on by another manager clearly out of his depth. Im just not at all impressed by LvG, signings/methods/persona or performances, but i know its a work in progress. We shall see.

            Jones (Bur)
            Kosc (Lei)
            Terry (Eve)
            PVA (QPR)

Scratching my head a little this week:

    Foster
    Terry, Kos, PvA
    Sanch, Caz, Haz, Silva
    Austin, Kane, Kun

    Myhill, Clichy, Boyd, Wasilewski.

    2FT, 1.0 ITB.

I'm thinking of doing Austin to Defoe tonight before rise. Then see if Sanchez plays. If he doesn't, keep anyway, but do Wasilewski to Yoshida (and then to Alderwiereld when he returns).

    Thoughts?

What to do with 2 FT gents?

    Panti 4.0
    Terry Kosc Fonte PvA Baird
    Hazard Oscar Silva Eriksen Cazorla
    Aguero Giroud Gayle

    A) Kosc + Gayle > Bellerin + Kane

    B) Gru+ Gayle > Defoe + Kane

    C) Gayle + Oscar + Kosc + Gru > Kane, Sanchez, Defoe, Naughton (-8)

    D) Other

So if you bring in Kane, you will have Terry, Haz, Oscar and Kane missing out in GW27. So I'd say if you bring in Kane, then you need to get rid of Oscar.

      C) is risky but potentionally awesome.

That's not really Wenger's style, and it's not something Sanchez would look to do.

Sanchez is desperate to play against the likes of Hull, let alone a game against Brazil, against his good friend Neymar, that he has already said he is looking forward too.

No, you have to consider how many years they have left in their career. Shaw is an investment as he will get better as he matures.

          • 12 Years
          11 years, 2 months ago

He's younger, so nowhere near his peak.. unlike the other two.
United have a left back for the next 10 years, should be progress.. You won't get 10 years out of Cesc/Costa.

I agree.. The Cesc/Costa money looks much better value right now, but you can't really compare.

Then let me spell it out for you, since you clearly need to be spoonfed. Luke Shaw was a very sought after item - 18 years old, the biggest defensive talent in England and quite possibly all of Europe ( at the time of aquisition ). Southampton didnt HAVE to sell him, meaning the price goes up. Him beeing young and english also pumps the price up, compared to players of different nationality. This is a known fact.

Second part; Cesc Fabregas was not wanted by Barcelona - they actively wanted to get rid of him under new management - he is also many years older - both of which makes him a cheaper player to purchase. Diego Costa, regardless of anything else you could say about him, had a buyout clause.

The fact that Fabs/Costa are established internationals and Shaw is still a teenager would encourage sane people to have lower expectations of immediate impact - regardless of pricetag. But you apparently just see a number and expect that the most expensive one should be the best at all times, immediately.

While i may not be exceptionally wise, i hope i answered your concerns.

It still does seem crazy. Costa and Fabregas are in the absolute prime of their careers and play premium conditions. The only way the Shaw deal makes sense is if you think he turns into Bale some day

Exactly. I remember many people who said that Gareth Bale was a worthless sack of pennies when he played LB for Spurs. Then he developed into the best player in the league and left for the biggest club in the world. Not saying that the same thing will happen with Shaw, but it certainly could - and thats the whole point.
