Our Friday lunchtime look of the PlayON Player Price List arrives once again, as the minutes tick down until another deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have extended their deadline for submitting teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – tomorrow that’s 3.00pm, where as many as six of the Gameweek’s fixtures get underway.

Goalkeepers – Ben Foster
Five clean sheets in eight matches indicates the Tony Pulis effect is starting to set in at West Brom. Having registered back-to-back shut-outs against Swansea and West Ham, the Baggies pay visit to a Sunderland side that failed to score against travel-sick QPR last time out and with doubts hanging over the availability of Jermain Defoe, Foster, at 6.4m, and owned by 4% of managers, looks a very a viable option in goal this week. Everton have conceded just once in their last four matches after Willian’s late goal at Stamford Bridge ended a resilient run. The Toffees welcome basement-dwellers Leicester City to Goodison and Tim Howard will need to be on top form to prevent their new striker Andrej Kramaric from netting a third in as many appearances. The fit-again American (10% ownership) made six saves on his return from injury against Chelsea and is available for just 7.1m in this week’s PlayON Player Price List.

Defenders – Paul McShane
After Hull keeper Allan McGregor (7.1m) rewarded us with a clean sheet against Aston Villa last week, we turn to Steve Bruce’s backline once again. Paul McShane (6.0m) returned to the Tigers’ defence for the draw at Man City and was their highest scoring defender against Villa in PlayON – with a home clash against QPR next up, the 21%-owned defender could be in the points again as Hull look to repeat their 1-0 win at Loftus Road on the opening day of the season. Branislav Ivanovic’s fifth goal of the campaign at PSG in the midweek Champions League draw follows his recent winner at Aston Villa. A constant source of attacking threat, the Serbian should have plenty of opportunities as Burnley travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend – whilst a price tag of 9.6m makes the right-back (26% owned) an expensive option, his prospects at both ends of the pitch are too good to ignore as Chelsea go in search of a thirteenth shut-out of the season.

Midfielders – Francis Coquelin
The Frenchman has started Arsenal’s last seven league matches and averaged over 1,100 PlayON points in that time. Given that a maximum of 450 points is available for minutes played, Coquelin – despite of his lack of attacking returns – continues to benefit from PlayON’s Scoring Matrix, which rewards actions such as interceptions, tackles and clearance. Priced at just 6.4m for the Gunners’ trip to Selhurst Park, the midfielder (26% owned) looks set to offer excellent value once again. We return to Chelsea for our essential pick as Eden Hazard (14.0m) is drafted in for the visit of Burnley. With Diego Costa still looking for match sharpness after his recent three-match ban, the Belgian’s contribution could be key – already, over 46% of PlayON managers have snapped him up for this one.

Forwards – Daniel Sturridge
The Liverpool forward (13.2m) looks a real differential heading into the weekend deadline, with only 3% of PlayON managers currently selecting him up front. Whilst a trip to Southampton could, for many, be off-putting, Sturridge’s record of two goals and as many assists in six appearances since returning from injury, despite limited pitch time, demonstrates his ability to serve up the Fantasy returns. Although we had the likes of Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa as alternatives, we’re opting for Harry Kane as Tottenham prepare for the visit of West Ham. After serving up a total of five goals and three assists in recent matches against Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, the youngster is one of the most fixture-proof players in the Premier League right now. Bearing in mind the Hammers have just been thrashed 4-0 at West Brom and triumphed in just one of their last eight top-flight fixtures, it’s no surprise that the 8.6m-priced Kane is currently the most popular option up front this week, with 46% ownership.

    Panti
    PVA Terry Clyne
    Mane ADM Haz Sanchez
    Kun(c) Kane Defoe
    (Gilks JWP Baird Wisdom)

    3.0ITB & 1FT. Mindful I need to shift Wisdom & Baird before the blank so I have enough players. Am also eager for more City/Ars coverage

    a) ADM > Yaya
    b) Defoe > Giroud
    c) Wisdom > Dawson/Lescott
    d) A combo of the above for a hit

      We currently have same starting x1 bar one player!

      I think it's worth keeping ADM as he has a great fixture for the blank/has played more minutes in his proper position in recent weeks.

      I think I'd do B this week and then Wisdom to Dawson/Lescott or Wollscheid in Gw27

    Hutton or Lescott for the next 4-5 GWs? Not sure that Villa won't ship even more goals under Sherwood if he plays a more attacking style.

    Foster
    Terry Zouma PvA
    Hazard Sanchez Silva Cazorla
    Aguero Kane Defoe

    Subs: Wollscheid Boyd Naughton

    A. Save FT to get rid of Zouma and bring in Eriksen/Austin for the dgw.
    B. Get Benteke/Berahino in for Defoe

    Thinking A at the moment. B is basically a 4 point hit as I will definitely need to make 3 changes in the following 2 weeks.

      Trouble with Sunderland was that they don't create a lot of chances.

      Defoe also gets injured a lot so there really didn't look like there was a lot of goals in those nice fixtures.

      Nothing wrong with tripling up but unless it's for a team that scores a ton and has good clean sheet potential.

      Sunderland really don't fit that profile.

    Good shout whoever said check out Newcastle's defensive form. Didn't expect it to be that good.

    Yet on the other hand, they are still at avg. 1.53 goals shipped per away game for the season - and City are still at chance created every 5.2 minutes of a home game(!!)

    Also look at who Newcastle's last games were Vs. that's given them that defensive security (or 'stats'); Palace, Stoke, and Hull their last 3.

    Look back at how they've handled top teams through the season. They've conceded 4 goals to Saints and 4 to Arsenal, 3 to United (and also 3 to Palace and 3 to Burnley).

    With City's top creators coming back I fear for Newcastle. Think they'll get a roasting. Aguero(c) close to a no-brainer for me.

    Best route here?

    (A)
    GW26: Terry -> Rose
    GW27: Oscar -> Sterling
    GW28: Santi & Ayoze -> Eriksen & Austin

    (B)
    GW26: Oscar -> Eriksen
    GW27: Terry -> Aldy
    GW28: Coloccini & Ayoze -> Rose & Austin

    Both give me 11 starters in GW27 and 4DGWers in GW28 for no hits

    Terry, Clichy, PVA
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Oscar, Santi

      I've just looked on Getty images and there's a pic of Bellerin volleying the ball in training today.
      Should imagine he's ok if he has no reaction after training

    So here's my team:

    Foster (Pants)

    Ivan, Clyne, PVA (Hutton, Wasilewski)

    AdM, Sanchez, Cazorla, Hazard (Boyd)

    Kane, Aguero, Giroud

    1 FT, 0.7 ITB

    I'm thinking:

    A) Wasilewski -> Bruce as Hull have been good defensively of late and that allows me to field 11 for GW 27 (though I could also take care of this next week)

    B) Cazorla -> Ozil as obviously since him and Walcott have been back, Santi is playing further back in the formation

    C) Any other suggestions that I may be missing?

    The other decision I have to make is on team selection -- I have been disappointed with Sunderland's defensive form lately so, even though they are at home, I am inclined to hedge and not play both PvA and Pants and start Foster instead.

    Hmm, City on TV, Chelsea not

    Big tick for Kun (c) that one

    Of course he's also quite likely to get subbed early before the Barca game

    For those of us with 3 CHE players, I think there's a decent argument for doing a CHE -> TOT switch this week, even though CHE have BUR.

    Both have a blank in GW27, so no difference there, and it means 1 less transfer is needed in GW28 to bring in TOT players, i.e. assuming you already have Kane, you can get a 3rd TOT and Austin for no hits in GW28.

    The downside is that CHE have BUR this week (which is obviously plum), but:

    1) after that they have the 3rd worst fixtures in the ticker prior to their DGW, and
    2) TOT have a decent fixture themselves this week in WHU

    Oscar -> Eriksen for me. Tempted.

      save if you can I think, though Oscar is now a slight rotation risk with Cuadrado around?

      If you have Oscar I would definitely think about switching. But for me, Hazard ain't goin no where.

        Terry (6.3), Haz (10.0) & Oscar for me. With rotation concerns with Oscar I think it looks a decent switch, even though he has BUR this week.

      from week 30 onwards chelsea games look good chance to get points, seems a lot of work for a couple of games, particluarly when any move can easily go wrong with cards or injury

    Looking good to save my FT? £0.7m itb.

    Begovic (Foster)
    PVA Jones Koscielny (Wisdom) (Bertrand)
    Hazard (C) Cazorla Sanchez Sterling (Puncheon)
    Kane Aguero Defoe
