Sunday afternoon beckons in two Premier League fixtures for Fantasy managers to profit from, as Liverpool and Arsenal attempt to overcome stern tests of their top-four credentials, while Manchester City attempt to narrow the gap on Chelsea. Following that, we’ve the small matter of a Wembley showpiece to enjoy, as Chelsea take on Spurs in the Capital One Cup Final. Book the sofa for the next six hours, then.

The feast begins on Merseyside as Liverpool host City at midday. Ominously for City, their opponents Liverpool are the league’s form team, boasting a run of 10 matches without defeat and five clean sheets in their previous six fixtures. The Sky Blues, though, possess the firepower to halt Liverpool’s momentum, with David Silva and Sergio Aguero both notching braces in the Champions’ last two match-ups.

The team news finds both Daniel Sturridge and Wilfried Bony on the bench as both keep significant goal threat in reserve. City make two changes to the side that lost to Barcelona, with Yaya Toure returning to midfield and Aleks Kolarov handed a start at left-back. Manuel Pellegrini elects to drop James Milner and Gael Clichy to the bench, then. Meanwhile, Liverpool make four changes to the side that lost to Besiktas on spot-kicks, as Jordan Henderson is fit to return to the engine room, allowing Emre Can to shift to the three-man defence in place of Kolo Toure. Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Lazar Markovic also come in as Jordan Ibe, Mario Balotelli and Sturridge drop out.

Gameweek 27’s swansong pits together two sides with contrasting domestic and European fortunes, as Arsenal take on Everton at the Emirates. The Gunners are licking their wounds after being brushed aside by Monaco on their own turf in the Champions League, while the Toffees will be buoyed having chalked up a 7-2 aggregate win over BSC Young Boys in the Europa League. Conversely, the Gunners are steadily accruing points in the league, spearheaded by Olivier Giroud’s three goals in four starts; while Everton have registered just one victory in their last 10 as record signing Romelu Lukaku continues to falter, recording a single league goal in his last 12 appearances.

Not on current form. Sturridge has been counter-productive ever since he's come back. He shoots on sight and only ever has one thing in his mind. It's like he's been playing too much Fifa whilst he's been injured and now is obsessed with scoring the perfect flair goal when we just need someone to hold the ball up and bring others into play!

Tough. Both have patches of good form followed by complete obscurity. Nasri keeps the ball better but Coutinho attempts more risky plays that when they work make him look good. I'd say Nasri is the more complete player.

Allen is a great squad player. Give Lovren more time, he'll come good. GJ's contract is running out anyways. Mignolet can stay, he just needs some good competition.

A lot said that about Sakho, Henderson etc.. he just needs time to adjust. Allen is very underrated, he's been brilliant today. Tidy passer and defensive work. Mignolet is not good enough, no. I'd still like to see him stay, but have an excellent number 2 that could even replace him.

    First half summary

Coutinho just gets better and better

Neville is driving me nuts with his constant whinging..He's not a commentator he's a moaner. ..And for the record Sterling, Coutinho and co are capable of making any defence look daft...Who knows they may even have made Gary Neville look daft if he still played...

Yeh, he is annoying me now. The defending is dreadful, but who doesnt love dreadful defending!? 😀

I find a lot of commentators are like this these days. All they seem to do is moan and whinge, "he should be doing this... he should be doing that..." it gets on my nerves.

Truth is both defences have done well to keep it down to a single goal...any defence who manages that against those two teams can have a tick...

Agreed. I can usually tune out commentators but Neville is incessant in his postured whining.

Notice, however, that Neville is watching too clubs that he hates. Of course he is mostly seeing the negatives in them.

Come on Kun. 2 more goals. A huge haul before everyone gets him for the next game and he is 40% + ownership.

Quite expected. That signals a bit that the number of dead teams must be huge right now.

Well, I dont know what everyone else thought but I thought...

    - Llalana had a cracking first half.
    - sterling is no striker and very wasteful
    - LFC may get caught out with these balls over the top to aguero.

    3-1 city, 2nd half.

You are just a biased manc!!

What great game of football - both sides the passing and movement were superb and an absolute delight to watch.

PS agree with "the lama" his running into pockets of space has caused all sort of problems and he could prove match winner unless City shut him down.

Sterling certainly isnt a striker and rodgers needs to stop thinkibg he is as it wont work
LFC may tire from that game in turkey i think

Llalana? Is this a welsh thing? Is that pronounced clanana or something? 🙂

I wouldnt say Sterling is that wasteful. Got the assist and without a striker playing ahead of him, he doesnt have much support at the time of receiving the ball

I count 3 or 4 occassions when a pass would have been the right option, but he instead shot or dribbled.

LFC have good range of strikers on the bench - Sturridge & Ballo be busting for it and allow fresh emphasis through the centre and Stirling to drop back out wide.

        Should be a great half.
