Three players tumbled off the Suspension Tightrope in Gameweek 28’s midweek fixtures, having picked up their 10th yellows of the campaign. Alan Hutton, Gareth Barry and Lee Cattermole will sit out their side’s next two matches as a result.

Hutton will be sidelined for the Villains’ FA cup quarter-final clash against the Baggies this weekend and the Gameweek 29 trip to Sunderland. Barry misses Everton’s home tie against Newcastle and a visit to Loftus Road, while Cattermole sits in the stands as the Black Cats welcome Aston Villa to the Stadium of Light and travel to West Ham in their next two.

On April 12, the requisite number of cumulative yellows that warrants a ban will increase to 15. Until that date, players resting on nine yellows will have to time their tackles to perfection. Swansea’s Neil Taylor and Stoke’s Phil Bardsley were joined by Cesc Fabregas, Ciaran Clark and Seb Larsson in the precarious nine club this week. Fabregas’ 30.1% ownership will doubtless be wincing each time the Spanish playmaker attempts a challenge in Chelsea’s next four ties (SOU, hul, STO, qpr) before the cut-off date.

With regards to players currently serving suspensions, Joey Barton and Mile Jedinak sat out the first of their respective three and four-match bans for violent conduct. The QPR midfielder misses further encounters with Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, while the Eagles captain won’t be available until Gameweek 32.

In terms of those back in contention, Glenn Murray returns for Palace after serving his one-match ban during their 1-0 defeat to Southampton. In addition, Nemanja Matic, Jack Colback and Morgan Amalfitano also fulfilled their obligations, with the former expected to be fit for the Blues’ next league encounter, despite picking up a minor injury during his Capital One Cup celebrations. Adam Johnson, meanwhile, has been suspended by Sunderland pending the results of a police investigation into off-field allegations.

Although not cautioned during the match, Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse could face lengthy suspensions after appearing to spit at each other during Manchester United’s visit to St James’ Park. The FIFA rules stipulate that any player guilty of spitting at an opponent should sit out his club’s next six matches in all competitions. Reports in the local press suggest that Cisse could be facing a seven-match ban if found guilty, given that he has already been suspended for violent conduct earlier in the season.

Discussing the matter with the Newcastle website, Cisse has acknowledged his part in the incident as he awaits an announcement from the FA:

”I have apologies to make to a lot of people today. Firstly to my teammates and to our supporters, secondly to Jonny Evans, and thirdly to every football fan who saw the incident between myself and Jonny. I reacted to something I found very unpleasant. Sometimes it is hard not to react, particularly in the heat of the moment.”

Evans, however, released a statement on the United website vehemently denying the accusations, going on to say:

“Having woken up this morning I am shocked to have seen the media coverage from last night’s match. I would like to make it clear that I did not spit at Papiss Cisse. I was totally unaware of any spitting incident and had assumed that the issue at the time was with the challenge and his attempted retaliation to the tackle from the floor. During the game Papiss Cisse and I spoke about the incident and it is clear by my reaction in the television footage that I was totally surprised by any suggestion of spitting. It is not in my character or in my nature to spit at anybody nor is it something I have ever done or would ever do. It is certainly not something that I did last night.”

not that I don't think his denial is ridiculous and that he should be banned (plus it helps us as he is not a good defender) can you TRULY prove he was spitting at Cisse? really curious..

on the flip side Cisse walked right up to him and spit directly on his cheek/neck (which would realistically be a reaction to Evans spitting I would imagine)

But you can't TRULY prove anything. I would say it's beyond reasonable doubt that Evans was spitting at Cisse.

If Cisse had done that in the games I play in he'd have been nutted! I once shoulder barged a player too heavily and got a slap, if I tried to stud someone twice I'd happily be spat at as punishment!

So Liverpool v Newcastle on April 13 doesn't count towards the 10 yellow limit?

I think I'm going to ride out Silva for a couple more GWs at least. There's no way I'm dumping Puncheon ahead of QPR so it would only be Eriksen. I'll just bank on Pellegrini prioritizing the Barcelona match.

                Yeah, I think so too.

For me though he needs to score 6pts+ to have represented a net gain in Giroud-4 - which I think he probably will, but only just, and Giroud is a captaincy option vs Wham imo.

    Panti

    Kos, Lescott, Wollschied

    Sanchez, Hazard, Eriksen, Mane

    Aguero (c), Kane, Austin

    Mannone, Moses, Bertrand, Naughton

you know which player is messing with my mind the most these days? no it's not david finally making the most of his talent silva. it's jeffrey schlupp, and the in-built carrot in our minds that is being OOP.
i genuinely think he's one of the most improved players over the season after announcing himself in august with possibly the funniest shot of the season to now actually seeming relatively in control of his obscene dynamism (quickest player in the league with bale gone and walcott and walker knocked-back by injuries?)
anyway being a leicester defender it's OOP factor versus 4 clean sheets all season (stk, SUN, hul, AVL). the carrot being dangled does look a bit like this as a result https://www.colourbox.com/preview/1960723-old-carrot-isolated-on-white.jpg
a defender goal is of course worth 6 points whilst a CS is only worth 4. however CSs come with baps often. so do goals but ironically players get hurt by being OOP with defenders getting 12bps for a goal compared to 18 for a mid and 24 for a striker. there were a couple of times earlier in the season where sanchez actually lost out on points by being classed as a mid despite the extra point for a goal and a clean sheet. anyway schlupp hasn't actually got a single bap this season despite scoring a few goals. maybe this was misfortune as his goals came in matches which finished 2-2, 2-2 and 2-3.
also 17 times this season leicester have conceded more than once, so he's losing points which mahrez for example wouldn't lose. but i guess the counter argument is no one is playing schlupp in the majority of these games.
how safe is his starting spot? i think safe enough. he's starting every game for a good few months now and gw8 was the last time he was taken off before the dreaded 60min mark. mainly though i think his career is on an upward curve so if he's in now he's in for the season. the likes of albrighton and knockaert look routed to the U21s.
    fixtures:
HUL, tot, WHM, wba, SWA, bur/CHE (dgw), NEW, SOT, sun, QPR.
that's 7 home games in the last 10, but overall i'm not sure they are great fixtures defensively. middle to decent. leicester have recently switched to a 541 for the last 3 but it's still to be seen whether that's a long-term switch or just because they were 3 away games at arsenal, everton and man city. it makes schlupp very attacking, almost like a 3rd attacker when in possession, but also he's not passing the 30 pass mark for example. again though that may be largely down to playing against top teams.
personally i think he's a fun option for the run-in. fun doesnt necessarily mean sensible though. clean sheets always more predictable than goals. i dont think leicester are the worst team in the league and whilst i do think it's too late to stay up i think they have enough to get some wins in those 10

Easier to see white on green after the fright of your orange on white.

I've been considering him for a while and waiting for the worst of his fixtures to be over.
We also have the relegation battle end of season factor where the bottom 6-8 teams suddenly seem to remember they quite like playing in the prem and best get their fingers out if they're going to stay and start playing like Barca on a good day.

If I recall bottom 6 against mid table "nowt to play for where are we going for the Summer" sides have given great results for recent seasons past.

But I really would like to take a punt on Schlupp, but I've already got my defence mapped out for the season (with Aldi & Jenko to come in and replace the two Burnley rotters)..which is a shame really.

Leicester's run in is very appealing when you factor in the decent home fixture covering GW33 blanks and the double immediately after. Of course, the fact that its Leicester makes it hard to be enthusiastic about it but got him lined up for next week. Kolarov out, Schlupp in.

    WENGER.

“Offensively we have lots of solutions. We have to find a team balance. It is more about team balance than any individual.

When you have the ball in the modern game you have to attack, when you don’t have the ball you have to defend. All the players who can’t do that, cannot play.”

    Ozil says hi.

Yes because his contracts runs out next year I think.
I agree, he is a fantastic player, Arsenal paid little money to get him as a youngster at Southampton. Under Wenger, he became a better player but I don't understand why he is not first choice.
Too injury prone and not capable to defend well probably...

          true I guess..

but perhaps Arsene really wants someone who can attack as well as get stuck in..

personally for me I think that just positioning yourself well is a good defensive contribution from a creative player

Yeah, but if somebody steals the ball off him, we can be pretty sure he isn't getting it back. So unlike Cazorla/Sanchez.

He does a hell of a lot of off the ball work, it's just not noticed because of his style of running and play. Arsenal, and Germany, couldn't attack the way they have been without his industry.

Hmm, yeah you're 10 points above top 10k average and Austin is owned by 40-45% around you so maybe it would take a 15 pointer from him.

Can't wait. The syndicate has fired in forty quid a man betting that I'm in. Plusout on Gold Cup Friday. Bliss.

I think Faugheen is going to be very hard to beat and that Willie Mullins could clean up on day 1.

What is the LMS predicted cut off and does the current table take into account hits?

I have 52 point (no hits) so 185th currently

I have Kane (c), Eriksen and Austin so should get some more points but this has been my worst week in awhile

I saw a comment from TM earlier which had 48 as the cut I think. I guess it will depend who gets what, but it looks to be OK as a guess.
