When Kevin Anderson’s workmates convinced him to put together a Fantasy Football squad the day before the season kick-off, little did they know that they’d unleashed a monster.

Eight months later, Kevin sits just three points off the top, £30,000 prize, in the Sky Sports game, having never played Fantasy Football. Regardless of the outcome, that’s a debut season to remember.

Kevin was our guest on this week’s live ScoutCast Hangout, joining Granville who made a return from his brief sulk hiatus, and Jonty to complete Tuesday night’s quartet.

We discover how Kevin’s relentless planning and stalking of opponents has helped him scale the ranks to within touching distance of the glittering prize. We also take time to digest the double Gameweek options, previewing the weekend with all the usual haphazard panache.

If you missed Monday’s live Hangout, you can catch the full version below, complete with that classic moment where I crash out of the conversation and leave the others hanging.

If you prefer your ScoutCast in a more slick, digestible format, you’ll want the edited audio experience, available on iTunes, via this link or the player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Mmmm...maybe...I took my apprenticeship in the Seventies when it was a far more common gateway after school. The firm I worked for took on ten a year and never had the slightest intention of retaining any of their services, It was a way of getting cheap labour to do skilled work for five years...I'm not saying you are wrong but just that it's been done before and it had it's pitfalls...It needs a few more rules than in those days.

Really? I found most professors in England in medicine and law have doctorates from Oxford and Cambridge.

For example some Universities even has law professors who have worked as judges, partners at a law firm, etc.

I feel as though if you're university isn't in the top 20 you might have a problem though.

It's 12-16 (18 if there is a college). You basically have to choose your courses in Year 9 (age 13 i think) which is too young.

Yeah I have relatives in England. It's crazy my cousin has to consider med school at around 15!

In Canada the average age for med school is 25 in my hometown which obviously has pros/cons.

Medschool starts at 18, but to get into it you need to chose the correct subjects at 15.

That said, you should be choosing those subjects at 15 because you like them, and not because you want to go to medschool as an ideal.

There are other routes. There's a graduate system much like what the US/Canada have. I'm going through medicine right now having already done my first degree (much better that way I think, a bit more life experience)

Yep, much better system in the USA/Canada. You actually have to work for it. There are people who get to University now having failed GCSE (High School) maths.

Med school in Canada is a joke though. Getting admitted is ridiculously hard so people come to the UK for the easier route. Not because they're not intelligent but because it's so hard.

The debt as well. I'm very fortunate that mine is minimal but there are a few North Americans in my class who will graduate $400,000 in debt... It is simply not fair.

Aye, I'm aware of this completely. I know the system here in Ireland is messed up but if I was aUS or Canadian citizen I wouldn't do medicine tbh. I can see it with the few who are here in Ireland doing it, all the extra exams just to get a chance to work back at home when they finish, and that may not be in a field they want to work in.

My friend doesn't come from a wealthy family so not getting into med school will break him financially and emotionally 🙁

Some girl got into med school in Canada with a 4.0 GPA in Dance and a good MCAT while a Science degree is 100x harder.

I'm very sorry to hear it. 🙁 I do know the earnings in North America eventually make up for the debt but it is very very tough.

I know a guy at the University College Dublin doing medicine. Came straight from Canada when 18 to do it. Saves him around 3-4 years of his life but then he'll have to wait on the international waiting list to be approved in Canada. Sometimes that can take years.

There's no clear and simple way to get a medicine degree as a North American 🙁

At least in England you have a decent chance.

                        That's where I study now 🙂

Aye, I wouldn't go near any healthcare related system in North America, college or hospital. The hospitals are a mess here but they're slowly trying to fix it, North American places are still forcing 100 hour weeks etc. You progress much faster than you would in Ireland but it isn't worth that.

And I agree, frankly I think the system in America isn't selecting those who would be best suited...

yeah in NA they choose doctors based off hardwork but not passion. The doctors coming through are ridiculously dull.

Agreed. I see it time and again, whether in schools or in college, a lot of people who shouldn't be remotely near education working as teachers. And that can drag down the name of the really stellar teachers out there (I've had a few and I really do understand now how big an impact a great teacher can have on your life)

Yeah you can just do a one-year law conversion after doing a pointless degree at university.

Biggest joke is school prices and accommodation for students. And you get less funding if you're parents are upper-middle class because they assume your parents will pay for you. But those parents have higher debt.

I think the problem is the term "University". When kids leave school at 15 or 16 they simply need to be more qualified than they did in the days when they were doomed to go down the pit or in t'mill. We need a higher educated workforce than the old school leaving age allowed.

"University" is the wrong word on the tin and most "University" establishments don't deliver anywhere near the old standard of University education, but they don't need to, they just need to educate the kids further than GCSE'S level.

She did a better job that Salmond would have done. But she won't get votes from many viewers, all she had to do was make Moribund look like a tool.

The richer get richer and the poor get poorer. Politicians always forget that small detail when their campaigns are being funded by the giants who they owe "favors"

Western societies are a facade in a sense.

And there is the crux of the problem. I dont understand why there is no specialism's in mp's.

I would quite happily stand for government if I only had to provide opinions and legislation in Infrastructure as its the only area where I would be competent to do so (In about thirty years time that is)

Correct. Same with Utilities...We sold it all off and now have to pay for our power and a shareholders dividend....or rather...A shareholders dividend and our power (must get the priorities right in our capitalist system)

I don't think any party has proposed to cut the NHS, only increase its budget. Healthcare will always be free, even in the privatised areas, who are mostly made up of charities like Macmillan and Marie Curie.
