Having dissected the midfielders in yesterday’s Watchlist article, we analyse our favoured forwards over the next four-to-six Gameweeks. A third consecutive double-figure haul sees Glenn Murray jumps up the rankings, while Leicester’s favourable run-in brings the in-form Jamie Vardy firmly into focus.

Sergio Aguero returns to the summit after breaking his goal scoring drought in the Manchester derby. The 12.5-valued forward bagged a brace in City’s 4-2 defeat to United, and with a favourable run-in (WHM, AVL, tot, QPR, swa, SOT), including three plum home matches in the next four, he looks worth holding on to, despite the obvious temptation to bring in forwards who have a double in Gameweek 34.

With three blanks in his last four appearances, Harry Kane drops a place in our latest update. The underlying stats are also cause for concern, with the Tottenham forward only registering eight shots from inside the box in the last four Gameweeks, compared to 16 between Gameweek 25 and 28. This weekend’s clash at Newcastle is favourable, but with the fixtures then getting tougher (sot, MCI, sto), Kane could struggle to repeat his phenomenal mid-season form.

Having averaged 12.6 points per appearance over the last three Gameweeks, Glenn Murray is undoubtedly the form player in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) at the moment. The Crystal Palace forward has managed nine shots from inside the box in the last four Gameweeks, a decent number considering his 5.2 price tag. With two favourable home fixtures (WBA, HUL) up next before the schedule turns nasty (che, MUN, liv), Murray looks a strong short-term play, particularly for those looking for an option just for Gameweek 33 before utilising their wildcard for double Gameweek 34.

After racking up two goals and as many assists in his last three appearances, Jamie Vardy finds a place towards the top of our Watchlist. Along with form, the 4.5-valued forward also has the fixtures (SWA, bur/CHE, NEW, SOT, sun, QPR) in his favour, including a double next week. Crucially for some, his lowly price tag enables Fantasy managers to bring in premium midfielders such as Cesc Fabregas and Raheem Sterling for double Gameweek 34.

Chelsea’s Loic Remy keeps his place in our ladder despite missing the West London derby against QPR with a muscle injury picked up in training. The 7.2-rated forward is expected to be fit to return for Saturday’s encounter against Man United, and with Diego Costa still unlikely to return for double Gameweek 34 (ars/lei), the French international looks an enticing short-term prospect. It is worth bearing in mind, though, that the Blues have only scored ten goals in their last seven Premier League matches, compared to 16 between Gameweek 18 and 24.

Wayne Rooney moves up a couple of places this time around, having scored four goals and provided an assist over the last six Gameweeks. With Louis van Gaal’s 4-3-3 formation working so well, the fit-again Robin van Persie may struggle to regain a spot in the starting XI, so although United’s upcoming schedule (che, eve, WBA, cpl, ARS, hul) is mixed, the confidence surging through Old Trafford at the moment helps boost Rooney’s Fantasy prospects.

Facing a blank this week and with Chelsea visiting the Emirates in Gameweek 34, Olivier Giroud had to fall in our latest refresh. The blank against Burnley halted a run of seven goals in six appearances, so while the French international’s form is strong, it isn’t surprising he heads the transfers out this week, given the options available to us for double Gameweek 34. Nonetheless, with Arsenal’s schedule from Gameweek 35 so favourable (hul, SWA, mun/SUN, WBA), it appears imperative Fantasy managers formulate a plan to bring the 8.8-rated forward back in, with Giroud amongst the favourites for the captain’s armband for the Gunners own double in Gameweek 37.

With eight goals in his last six league appearances, Christian Benteke is clearly enjoying life under Tim Sherwood at Villa Park. Like Giroud, the Belgian’s Fantasy prospects aren’t bright for the next two Gameweeks (blank, mci), but with a kind run-in (EVE, WHM, sot, BUR) to follow, the 7.5-priced forward could be a handy differential down the stretch, with his current ownership standing at just 3.2%.

Graziano Pelle returns to the Watchlist, having found the net for the first time since Gameweek 17 in Southampton’s 2-0 win against Hull. Ronald Koeman’s side should benefit from a strong run-in (sto, TOT, sun, lei, AVL, mci), making the 7.4-priced forward a viable option, but with double Gameweeks around the corner, any investment in the Italian international looks unlikely right now.

QPR’s Charlie Austin is another victim of a blank this week, with Rangers’ schedule thereafter not particularly favourable either (WHM, liv, mci, NEW, lei). The 6.5-valued forward has been in good form, registering two goals and three assists in his last four outings, but with so much competition for places in our three-man frontlines, expect Austin’s 21% ownership to continue to dwindle over the next few weeks.

Following the news that Romelu Lukaku is on course to return to the Everton squad for Saturday’s home encounter against Burnley after stepping up his recovery from a hamstring injury, the Belgian international finds his way back into our thoughts. The Toffees face four home matches (BUR, MUN, SUN, TOT) in their final six league encounters, along with trips to Aston Villa and West Ham, and with a goal and three assists in his last two outings at Goodison Park, the 8.7-priced forward may be worthy of some consideration.

Schlupp or Cambiaso for -4 now to field 11 (Clyne in the 11) and play either in the DGW

    Or

Field 10, no hits, with Clyne...

I have the same problem and already asked it a couple of times on here. Didn't get many responses on it but what I can make from it is that most people liked the Schlupp one better. Also depends on who you're getting rid of course.

I think importance of 'fielding XI at all costs' is a little over stated here. More often than not in a week with blanks, if you nail your captain choice (Aguero this week the obvious choice) - then having 1 missing player tends to not be worth a -4.

On the other hand, getting x3 fixtures from a player instead of x1 - when you look at it like that, then suddenly a hit starts to look so easy to justify!

      (hope this has been helpful)

This. I have Zouma and really need to get rid, but won't be getting a Chelsea defender.

I think Leicester and Arsenal will both notch at home against a knackered Cahill/Terry pairing. And Utd will too this w/e.

I don't necessarily think you can quantify hard work solely in distance covered. The fans will love you for it, but someone who covers less distance, say Silva or Aguero, can be conserving their energy and using it when they need to. It's no good your attackers charging back 50 yards and then being completely out of position if your team get the ball. Doesn't mean they're not working as hard, just maybe working smarter.

Maybe I'm just saying that because I'm in work sat on here. Working smart.

            No, he won YPoTY.

            I found this:

Andy Gray (1976-77) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2006-07) are the only other players to have won both awards in the same season.

I think being PoTY should disqualify you from YPotY personally.

I think the fact that 4 of the 6 are in both categories shows that it needs a change - it's basically the same award.

There would always be the possibility to make the rule such that the "young player award" would be for "prospect" (as in France) or "break through player" (as in Spain) so that if the player is nominated for the POTY he could not be nominated for YPOTY (although the breakthrough player could logically in rare case also be the best player). This is the reason why when Hazard was elected the best player of French league twice in a row at age of 20 and 21, each time a player one year older than him won the young player award. Similarly 2009 La Liga player of the year Lionel Messi was not in contention for the young player award, when 4 years older Apono was a runner-up for that price

If he's the best player of the league and eligible for the best young player of the league, then he consequently is also the best young player of the league - because if somebody else was better than him, then this other player clearly would also be the best player of the league.

If you're being logical then yes. If you want to award more than one player though then you give Hazard the main accolade and Kane the YPOTY as a kind of runner up prize. Pretty sure that kind of vote has happened more than once in the past.

double Leicester defence is nuts as they don't keep a CS but I can't see a GW34 keeper I'd rather have than Kasper, and Schlupp/Morgan have decent attacking stats and I can't see a defender I'd rather have instead

If I had to pick a Leicester player in defence, would probably be Schmeichel. Other keeper would have to be Davis though.

Wouldn't bother with a defender that you'll be stuck with for the run in.

Vardy/Nugent is fine as a punt, but uses up one FT to get in Giroud/Benteke in GW35. Seems like a waste given the limited number of frees we have.

if that's how you've structured your team...seems alright. if going to depend on Vardy til GW37, i'd much rather have Giroud than Remy from the off.

Struggling this GW with one eye on the DGW. 1 FT and £1.4m ITB:

    Fabianski (McCarthy)
    Terry/Clyne/Rose/Bellerín/Hutton
    Sánchez/Hazard/Mata/Eriksen/Elia
    Giroud/Kane/Murray

Know that I'm probably going to have to take a hit to remove Giroud and Bellerín and have been thinking of outing Eriksen, Clyne or Elia too.

    Krul (Panti)
Ivanovic, Clyne, Dawson (Hutton, van Anholt)
    Hazard, Silva, Sanchez, Eriksen (James)
    Aguero, Kane, Austin

    2FT

    A) Austin->Murray
    B) Austin->Vardy
    C) Hutton->Schlupp

A or B would probably be for 1-2 weeks then switch to Sturridge if fit for the DGW 34. C would give me a better option than Dawson GW 33 and DGW-defender for DGW 34. I'd then do Austin->Sturridge in DGW 34 if fit.

Why's that? It's for THIS week.

Because Austin and Sanchez don't have a game this week and you have them in your starting 11.

If you did Hutton->Schlupp (decent transfer) then I'd assume that you're going to have to play Matty James?

Yeah, I'll play James to field 11 this gw. James also has DGW next week.

Question is, do I go with Austin->Murray/Vardy or Hutton->Schlupp this gw? Bringing in Giroud in gw35, so striker decision is probably only for a couple of matches.

PoTY list in 2010-11 was Bale, Charlie Adam, Samir Nasri, Scott Parker, Carlos Tevez, Rafael van der Vaart and Nemanja Vidic. Is it just me or is that a really rubbish season?

Not that there aren't good players there, but Bale was the standout and I don't remember him even being THAT good that year.

That was the one where united finished top with something like 79 points with berbatov winning the golden Boot. Definitely the worst season i can remember

Yeah, the quality really seemed to suddenly disappear around 09-10, the Premiership had pretty much all of the best teams in Europe 2005-08/9 (Barcelona aside).

tbf , united did make the ucl final that season. 09-10 was my favourite I think. Just an abnormal amount of goals
