This evening we roll out the quarter final draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI, as sponsored by Paddy Power, as well as the semi-final draw for the Fantasy Football Members Cup V.

Mark continues to fight another day, after seeing off Eedee in round seven in the FFS Paddy Power Cup XI. He is the highest placed manager in the competition with a Fantasy Premier League rank of 155 and squares up to johni00 in the quarter finals.

Another of the FFScout team has made it through. Our moderator and Scoutcast guest Ryan beat the competition’s previously highest ranked manager, fuml_akimbo, and now faces HammersXI.

In the other quarter final ties, HuttonDressedAsLahm takes on Mowgli and faux_C is matched with Jon Nurse, who has won £25 worth of free bets with Paddy Power after his round seven tally of 68 proved to be round seven’s highest score.

In the Fantasy Football Members Cup V, the first semi-final will see the competition’s highest placed manager Tdubb05, who is ranked 1345th, take on waltzingmatildas. Meanwhile, Alwilb’s semi final opponent is faux_C, the only competitor to be in with a chance of winning both our cups.

The full quarter final draw for the FFS Paddy Power Cup XI can be found here, while the semi-final draw for the Members Scout Cup V can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

      Hmmm...but DGWs are different though.

And that game vs Leicester in the DGW could decide their fate. Should be goals in that one.

truth, I haven't really looked into Sunderland beyond Gomez, Larsson, PvA and Panti but many were talking up Wickham here and on TFPL as an option for those going Giroud-less

Cheers for the replies last page, I've decided to keep Kane and go without Benteke for now.

Now, I need a cheap mid to facilitate my Sanchez transfer. My options are Brady (4.4), Grealish (4.3) and Albrighton (4.2). They'll be played this week over Coutinho (I fancy a Chelsea clean sheet) and will then be stuck on my bench for the final 2 weeks.

Brady has Burnley at home, is on corners, some FKs (and probably penalties). His downside is his position as a wingback and his low goal threat from open play.

Grealish has looked lively but from what I've seen of him may lack end product. However it would give me some Villa 'cover' with every man and his dog getting Benteke.

Albrighton has got double digit scores in his last two games but faces a tough SOT defence who don't concede many headed chances. He's on corners and some FKs in an attack-minded side.

Thoughts? And apologies for the long post about a budget midfielder, but maybe it'll help others out too who are facing a similar dilemma 🙂

I really fancy Charlie Adam for the rest of the season if you have the cash.

I'd go Brady or Boyd if I'd have to go really cheap.

I heavily favor Grealish right now, has some corners and faces a West Ham side who are prone to losing the majority of their aerial duels. Tekkers may exploit their disadvantage their and Grealish could possibly profit from that IMO. Great underlying stats for Grealish as well, been playing in the front three as well,

Albrighton looks like the form Option but Tbh I'd play coutinho in current form over all 3 of them despite the fixture.

Also I just did Kane > benteke for a hit. Its not the sensible choice but I'm going to have a go at top 100 and take a few risks, including going without kane, Giroud and hazard (next week)

      1. HammersXI
        • 13 Years
        11 years, 3 days ago

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Benteke is a great option to try to catch up ground. Gonna do so this week.

And I agree that I would rather play Coutinho over the rest. It's slight different in my case as these few players will be my 4th MF

    6. President John F. Keninnsie

      Cheers all.

@Zan Yeah I saw you made the Benteke move. It's the exciting move for sure and I really want to do it but I just feel like Kane isn't done just yet. Fair enough in your situation how you want to have a go at cracking the top 100, I'm personally trying to crack the top 1k but I think it's quite a risk taking a luxury hit at this stage for me.

      1. Amateur Pundit Zan
        • 13 Years
        11 years, 3 days ago

From where you are you can crack 1k by playing the percentages and watch others implode around you. I've gained loads of late places last 2 years by keeping my discipline.

Top 100 is 32 pts away for me and I'm 29 pts safe in top 1k. 4 pt hit obviously shifts that even further so probably can't be done but Im not going to die wondering

    7. HammersXI
      • 13 Years
      11 years, 3 days ago

Sorry just woke up haven't been reading the past few pages. Why are you not going for Benteke? He is on form and a good punt if you want to get in top 1k.

I would prefer you to play Coutinho though, that being said I'm in the same dilemma as you, having to pick one of these options

You are spot on with your take on Grealish. He looks promising the past few games but the end product isnt' there atm.

Albrighton is on top form but it's Southampton. And their defense.

I guess if I were you and I don't have Benteke I'll get Grealish

      1. President John F. Keninnsie
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 3 days ago

I'm going to hold off on Kane > Benteke mainly because I think Kane could still do well in his next two fixtures and 4 points is a lot to give up around my current rank. Worst case scenario is I make the move, Benteke blanks and Kane scores. That's an 11 point swing right there, so I'm going to be a dullard for once and hold onto Kane.

Yeah I'm tempted by Grealish. Albrighton is in great form but I already have a Leicester attacker in Vardy. Two might be one too many against that Saints defence... Thanks mate 🙂

          11 years, 3 days ago

Ah yes that makes sense. It's a hit thats why you are forced to think twice. Am in the same situation as you also, to choose Coutinho or take him out for a hit to get in Silva. Decided to stick as a -4 so late in the season can do quite a lot of damage.

Yeah Albrighton is the form man but I don't fancy him against Southampton though I won't have Vardy by then. Looks like all my Leicester attack cover would be gone this GW

Looks like no one's fancying Defoe for the DGW.

Any particular reason? I'm guessing most don't have room with Aguero - Giroud - Benteke/Kane.

    aaaaaaalright

so it's looking like Hendo + Sterling > Gomez + Sanchez (-4) to give me:

    ....................Schmeichel
    ..........Morgan - Terry - Smalling
    Ramsey - Sanchez - Hazard - Albrighton
    ..........Giroud - Aguero - Benteke

    Panti; Gomez, Skrtel, PvA

THAT being said..probably smart to wait until Friday to pull the trigger since I have about 1.0m to work with on current prices to see the status of Ramsey, right?

I have not been watching any Sunderland.

      Has he been that bad?

      Wickham instead?

I will go for a Sunderland striker for the DGW. Their game vs Leicester in the DGW will be a proper relegation battle and I expect goals. Maybe he can get something at Arsenal as well.

    Here's my team (I have 2 FT and £0.4m):

    Davis
    Ivanovic, Terry, Koscielny, Morgan
    Hazard, Sterling, Coutinho
    Vardy, Benteke (v), Agüero (c)
    Pantilimon, Cambiasso, Skrtel, Grealish

I could do Sterling & Coutinho -> Sanchez & Adam/Gomez but that would leave me with no money in the bank so it'd be tough to get another attacking Arsenal player next week without selling Aguero or Hazard.

    Thoughts?

    Morning all

I was just going to start a, "Is Kane > Benteke worth a hit" thing but I see it's already been done. Man, I hate having to make choices like this so close to the end of the season. If this was gw25 or something I'd have got Tekkers like a shot a few weeks ago without a second thought but with the doubles and THE END fast approaching it becomes far more difficult to judge.
West Ham are fairly solid again but so are Stoke. I can quite easily see the Stokies getting stuck in early doors ( as they say ) are Spurs deciding they don't fancy it. Wouldn't be the first time.

        You're probably right.

My simple plan this week was just Sterling to Ramsey and hold Kane for next week. Villa look great going forward and Spurs creating so few chances for Kane there could be a big points swing between the two again this week.

Another point is that I've started to fret about Ramsey. We all know how fragile he is and I'd hate to buy him only for Wenger to decide to manage his minutes with the run-in and Cup Final approaching.

Definitely b if you have to do any. Benteke is in form but taking out a DGW player for another and paying a hit for it seems crazy to me.

If you can avoid a hit even better, at this stage I'd take any points a rival wants to hand over to you

In the new formation he has a lot more license to go forward so has been involved more in build up play, he scored week before last too. I'd still say there are better punts out there though, I'm leaning towards a Sunderland mid or Adam

His recent form is excellent: 2 goals, an assist, 8 baps, 4 clean sheets in the last seven games. I haven't seen much of Everton recently but he seems to be developing into a mini-Ramsey. If not this year then he could well be a great 5th. mid next season, like Boyd this year.

      Thanks for the input people.

Looking at the fixtures i thought more may have said to keep Vardy as they have 2 home games in 3 and need goals to stay above relegation. While Spurs have 2 away games and haven't looked great going forward of late.

I was more on the side of keeping Kane but wanted to know if i was over thinking things. Cheers all.

Which gets more points going forward?

    A) Fabianski, Kosc, Henderson, Giroud (no hits)

    B) Ospina, Ivanovic, Rambo, Kane (-4)

    Cheers

    Terry / KOS / Schlupp / PvA
    Hazard / FAB / Sterling / Hendo / Boyd
    Aguero / Vardy / AUSTIN

I have to do one of this transfers to have three Arsenal players at DGW37, so:

    A) Skrtel and Austin to Stones and Giroud
    B) Skrtel and Fàbregas to Stones and Sánchez

    A or B??

I'd play Austin. Although it isn't terrible, Man City's defence is not completely water tight at the minute either. What I like about keeping Austin is who he has the week after City.

"We deserve that three games to play with a bit more freedom, we will try to enjoy the games and to play seriously as well." - Matic
I am not concluding anything from that comment but chelsea will surely play with more freedom now. That means more attacking returns and possibility of conceding goals (which i might be wrong). but those who are with double chelsea defense what are u going to do?

    1. money face bandwagon

Chelsea always have a tough defense and they would not suddenly be too leaky (opponent might not be able to exploit it)...so i would say sell 1 defender n keep another.

Thanks for the morale boost fellas, had good differentials for this GW with Tekkers and Ramsey, but it seems for the next three GW's most will own them. Think you may be right Nick that I might need to get another differential now to beat the top 10k by at least 12 points each GW from now on.

Fwiw, by Gw37 I'll have my triple Arsenal and Sunderland quota for free (if I get Gomez this GW for Hendo), so I could take two worthwhile punts the last two GW's if I want. Cheers guys! 🙂

    DZ query

I have 5.2 in the bank and I'm considering saving my FT this week to be able to adapt to any injuries, suspensions or other changes for the DGW in 37. What do you think?

    Ospina (Harper)
    Ivanovic Huth Vlaar (PVA, Skrtrel)
    Sanchez Hazard Henderson Cambiasso (Sterling)
    (c) Benteke Giroud N'Doye

Ouch. If you can get it down a little and go into final week with 2 ft you could spook him into a mistake. Devastatingly Unlucky when progress gets wiped out by one guy.

Since it's slow, I'll repost the opening scene of the new reality show focused on the training grounds of one team -
    -------------------

Boss: Hi Frank, come on in.
    Worker: It's John sir.

Boss: Look Tom, I just want you to know, we really value your contribution here.
    Worker: It's John sir.

Boss: Right you are. We just wanted you to know, Wayne, that we did try to get twenty-odd people, including this McClaren bloke, to take your job, and they all said it's too much hard work for too little pay. So Phil, we'd be very happy for you to continue and we're behind you 100%.
    Worker: It's John sir.

    Boss: Right. Carry on then.
    Worker: Thank you sir.

Nice. Carver really has to have had one of the worst interim jobs ever. He's got absolutely nothing from that team. At least likes of Burnley can hold the heads high and know they probably achieved more than they should have due to the effort levels. If Newcastle had similar effort they'd be comfortable already.

        No and yes.

In a sense, what he said was all spot on.

However, the way he said it showed he has already largely lost the locker room. Yelling at players who don't value anything you do is more likely to have them shut you out more. Then again, it's nearly impossible to win back a locker room you've lost

The whole club is a mess in the long run. Perhaps it may be of some comfort to the fans that it's hard to go anywhere but up, barring relegation, which might be an impetus for positive change in the long run anyways. I'm definitely interested to see how it all goes.
