We approach the penultimate Gameweek of the season with a double Gameweek for Arsenal and Sunderland on the agenda. As always, we take a look at the Sky Sports game and assess the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, the transfer trends and also cast an eye over the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 39 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

Fixture MoTM
Everton v Sunderland Lee Cattermole
Aston Villa v West Ham Tom Cleverley
Hull City v Burnley Danny Ings
Leicester v Southampton Robert Huth
Newcastle v West Brom Remy Cabella
Stoke City v Tottenham Marko Arnautovic
Crystal Palace v Man Utd Ashley Young
Man City v QPR Sergio Aguero
Chelsea v Liverpool Philippe Coutinho
Arsenal v Swansea Lukasz Fabianski

One goalkeeper, one defender, six midfielders and a couple of forwards picked up the awards this week. Sergio Aguero earned his eighth award of the season and picked up 25 points in City’s home thrashing of QPR. Philippe Coutinho earned back-to-back awards after picking up the plaudits in Liverpool’s draw at Chelsea, whilst Villa’s Tom Cleverley netted for the third match in succession and earned his first Man of the Match award this season.

Gameweek 39 Bonus Points

Only three goalkeepers managed to pick up saves bonus this week. Lukasz Fabianski, Rob Green and Hugo Lloris were the men in question, with the Swansea stopper serving up a 14-point return, which included a MotM award at the Emirates. Green is the busiest keeper in the league, having racked up 32 bonus points over the season.

In defence, seven players grabbed bonus in the previous round of fixtures. Four for tackles – including Sunderland’s Patrick van Aanholt, ahead of Sunderland’s double – whilst three defenders earned passing bonus – Arsenal trio Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal. City’s Pablo Zabaleta remains the top defender for bonus, with 24 points accrued so far.

In midfield, there were 16 beneficiaries in total: 12 for tackling and four for passes. Again, three Arsenal players – Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey – earned passing bonus during their home defeat to Swansea.

Chelsea’s double-pivot duo Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic lead the way for bonus amongst midfielders, with 50 points apiece.

No forwards earned bonus over the Gameweek 39 fixtures.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

Name Team Value % of Managers
Rooney Man United 9.4 6.1%
Kane Tottenham 6.7 5.5%
Aguero Man City 9.8 4.7%
Giroud Arsenal 8.9 3.4%
Hazard Chelsea 8.9 3.2%

Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane’s poor scoring form is the reason for their exodus, whilst Aguero and Eden Hazard were likely sacrificed for Arsenal assets on Monday evening. Giroud’s form is also questionable, though with a double up next, many may come to regret transferring the Frenchman out.

Top Transfers In

Name Team Value % of Managers
Sanchez Arsenal 9.5 10.4%
Aguero Man City 8.9 7.1%
Benteke Aston Villa 8.1 5.9%
Cazorla Arsenal 8.3 5.3%
Giroud Arsenal 8.9 4.3%

Once again, Arsenal’s Monday night match means they make up three of the top five positions for the second successive Gameweek. Christian Benteke and Sergio Aguero continue to be drafted in after racking up the goals in recent outings.

We have some important transfer data to keep an eye on as the season comes to an end. Currently, the average amount of transfers remaining in the top 1000 players is 1.206, whilst the top 100 have 0.97 and finally the top 10 have 0.7.

Top Five Captains Picked

Name Team Value % of Managers
Costa Chelsea 9.5 13.3%
Rooney Man United 9.4 9.4%
Aguero Man city 9.8 8.2%
Sanchez Arsenal 9.5 7.1%
Fabregas Chelsea 8.6 6.4%

My Team

Fabianski
Bertrand Dawson Schlupp
Hazard Silva Coutinho Mane
Giroud, N’Doye, Sanchez©

ITB: 0.3m
Transfers remaining: 2/40
Last week’s points: 102
Overall points: 2223
Rank: 55

Notes

My decision to captain Sergio Aguero at home to QPR came up trumps before I transferred him out for Alexis Sanchez at home to Swansea. Lukasz Fabianski racked up the points in a defiant display at the Emirates, whilst Jeffrey Schlupp chipped in with a clean sheet as I moved up to 55th overall.

Captain Plan
With two transfers remaining, I could swap out Sanchez for Harry Kane as my captain at home to Hull and then back again to Sanchez for Arsenal’s pair of matches.

Alternatively, I could just stick with Sanchez and have no Saturday captain, then use my two transfers to swap Eden Hazard and David Silva to Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey for the extra matches. As yet, I’m still undecided.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

    Hi

I'm really struggling to find out what to do. I am chasing 5 players within A range of 15 points. All of them has sanchez and will most probably captain him. I don't. Have him and have to take a hit to get him.

    My team is now

    Panti
    Wasilewski-clyne-trippier
    Sterling-Silva-haz-özil
    Benteke-Aguero-vardy

    Krul-albrighton-coleman-hutton

,7 in the bank and 1FT. As you can see i don't have good coverage for the dgw. And ideas of what to do?

Personally, if I was in that situation I'd just to Hazard to Sanchez straight swap.

Is Benteke injured? Maybe Benteke ---> Giroud instead?

Seiling haz gives me 11,3 in the bank. Just not enough to get sanchez. Have to take a hit to make that happen

Might as well sell Clyne if you're not going to play him this week or next (mcy). Frees up more money for next week's transfer too.

Both suggestions are good. Flyene has not got me many points lately and I don't think he will in the two rounds to come. Trippier is on a relegated team. Bot sure how they will do now.

I believe one of them will be sold for a dgw defender. Just have to decide if it is worth it to take a hit to get sanchez when the people i chase have him. Feels like i'm blocking myself by doing so.

Two weeks left, who to ditch Downing for?

    1) Sissoko (qpr/ WHM) - big match and statistically "due" a big haul, what better two games?

    2) Larsson (LEI/ ars/ che) - DGW and on set pieces, maybe a more advanced role with Gomez gone? Don't like away to Chelsea though in GW38 😕

    3) Fellaini (ARS/ hul) - bang on form, great differential. United nothing really to play for though 😕

Nice. With 1 FT next week you could do Kane > Vardy/Ulloa and Schlupp, Cambiasso and Vlaar back in the team for Skrtel, Hendo and PVA, so I think you're well set to use the FT this week.

If you saved the FT and had 2 then you could also sell Pantilimon (who has Chelsea away) for someone like Schmeichel vs QPR, or Guzan vs Burnley.

So really comes down to whether you're happy with playing Hendo this week.

That's an idea I wanted vardy/ulloa in gw 38 for sure and like the idea of swapping out Pants next week too. Just in 2 minds with Hendo to larrson now as I do love a dgwk

If Larsson gets a pen your quids in 🙂

I'm rolling over my FT instead of getting Pantilimon, where usually I'd be happy even to take hits, but it's too close to the end of the season now.

Good luck with what you decide!

Take a hit to get rid of Gomez? (I was so certain that he would be a good pick for the DGW, now it also looks like the chap who is second in FPL needs to also get rid of him. This is good news for Simon March)

Sometimes you got to make them early! Luckily got Pantilimon and Cazorla on perfect budget early this week 🙂

I am very impatient when making moves, it's one of my downfalls.

    Evening all,

Given I'm 14 OR and want to 'go for it', which of these moves d'ya think look best? Also, if not B, who to bench?

    A) Baird -> Kos(c)
    B) Silva/Haz -> Santi/Ramsey(c)
    C) Gomez & Silva -> Cout & Ramsey/Santi(c) (4 points)
    D) Gomez & Haz -> Gerrard & Ramsey/Santi(c) (4 points)

    PANTI
    Terry, Skrtel, PVA, Schlupp
    SANCHEZ, Haz, Silva
    Aguero, GIROUD, Kane

    Schmeichel, Albrighton, Baird, Gomez
    Bank 2.2m, 1FT

            No.1 will surely captain Alexis.

Yeah, definitely. But I want to captain an ARS player he doesn't have as I need to make up a lot of ground

Cheers La Roja. Don't you think No.1 will do the same though? And so I have to do something different in order to catch him.

Who do you think he'll bring in this week? Probably Santi eh?

I'd captain someone different and wild punt on GW 38.

Get Rambo and captain him imo

Tottenham are hopeless (albeit Rose is ridiculously attacking)

Because the ideal send off is from Anfield and that's his last game. Who wants a career ending game at Stoke?

I wouldn't be surprised if his last game is this weekend and that's that.
