Despite guiding Tottenham to a sixth place slot in 2013/14 after replacing Andre Villas-Boas as the Tottenham manager, Tim Sherwood wasn’t offered the Spurs job on a permanent basis, with chairman Daniel Levy instead opting for Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine arrived at White Hart Lane having led the Saints to an eighth place finish, and immediately went about adding to his squad, with Ben Davies, Michel Vorm, Federico Fazio, Eric Dier and Benjamin Stambouli all joining during the summer transfer window. There were plenty of departures too, with Michael Dawson, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Sandro among the big names to leave.

      Which 4? Only Hazard and Aguero are serious captain options as you could captain them against anyone in the league, home or away. Likes of Walcott and Benteke would rarely be captain, and most probably in home games.

      Nonetheless, its a nice team. Well balanced. Not too sure on Mangala, prefer Fonte at that price. Nice front 7.

        Yeah Walcott and Benteke. Could easily captain them in their handy home games like GW1 for Walcott or GW2 for Benteke.

      Starting defence of mangala and lescott is questionable. Lescott and west brom have poor fixtures to start

      Might get 1 or 2 games out of targett and we don't know where kaboul will fit in

      midfield is nice

      strikers are decent but all depends on if aguero is fit (I think he will be now he is training. Wait on more info on benteke as he hasn't had any pre-season so far. Bojan is an interesting pick

        Don't care about Targett, need a 4m defender and if I get games from him well that's a bonus.

        Starting with Aguero unless ruled out of first two weeks.

      Like your style, cool team. Would maybe swap Mangala to a better option at 5m and use the extra to upgrade Francis though? Not sure about those two. Why Bojan out of curiosity? Seeing him creep into the odd RMT every now and again

          I like Bojan and his fixtures but I'm starting with Sakho. If Sakho flops it'll be an easy swap down to a Deeney/Wilson/Defoe/Bojan type

    My team: opting for a 343, with 2 strong defs (ars, che) & a strong midfield. Attack could be better, but Pelle for the southampton attacking coverage (last season he was brilliant in the opening 6 weeks) and Deeney seems like a decent go for that money. Any feedback is welcome!

      Schneiderlin's not a great fantasy prospect really. Get Ritchie in his place. Downgrade Ivanovic to Azpillicueta, then get Deeney in Graham's place and off you go.

      i dont think kane is worth his price. would prefer downgrade him to benteke\sakho and upgrade ritchie (although i have to say i dont really know the latter)

        I would say 9.5 for Kane is a bargain. He's a star at the club and Spurs have some easy games at the beggining. Why would you prefer to have Benteke? He will need some time to settle in and Liverpool's fixtures look horrible at the start.

      It doesn't get better than this. Personally I prefer Ramsey to Ozil but that's always a close call between Arsenal midfielders. Anyway, this team looks great.

    with lvg stating that 4-3-3 is the preferred formation this brings depay and in particular Mata into my considerations. The question remains whether mata is as good a pick as walcott or chadli. I think not

      Would be concerned about no ARS attacking, maybe instead of Depay/Mata go for Ozil/Caz/Rambo, avoiding the MU double up, who haven't looked all too convincing?
