With only three days remaining until the 2015/16 Premier League campaign gets underway, we thought we’d take an in-depth look at the first match of the domestic season, which took place last Sunday. Arsenal’s 1-0 Community Shield victory over Chelsea finally broke Arsene Wenger’s winless streak over nemesis Jose Mourinho, thanks to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s first-half wonder strike.

      Possibly. I wouldn't bank on it until you see any evidence though - Fazio and Vertonghen were just completely undone by a straight ball over the top.

        A bit half arsed tbh.

        It's the time of the week were you ahve to actually get a team together! I'm out of the loop as to who the best cheapies are etc. Ritchie and Wilson seem the best of the new cheap boys

      Nope. Tactics weren't in his favour for the Chelsea match imo. Even on the wing against the Hammers he's a terrific prospect.

        Say he does start on the wing with Giroud up top, who drops to the bench? Can't see Wenger benching Ox after Chelsea game, so you think Ramsey will be one to go? That's also tough for me to see.

        I think its either Walcott or Giroud for Wenger

      Not completely but I think I'm getting there. Giroud's record vs West Ham is also something to consider along with his possible ~60 mins if he does start.

    I'm probably gonna have to drop Costa to free up some funds but very few strikers look that appealing this year. Lukaku, Benteke and Kane are the obvious ones but Lukaku went missing a lot last season (I realise he was playing on the wing for some games). I'm worried Benteke could do an Andy Carroll and I don't think Kane will be as good as he was last season. Am I just being pessimistic?

        The only FWDs that appeal are the big 3 for me. Obviously spoils the rest of my team a bit though having Costa and Rooney up top

      Great question. I think Kane is the better option, but GW2 captaincy, Chadli and the 1m difference is why I'm on Benteke now instead.

      If Lukaku is fit then he would be my choice. Chelsea's fixture at home to Swansea isn't as easy as some suppose (Swansea beat Man Utd in their opening fixture last season, and also beat Arsenal at the Emirates in March). Moreover, without Costa occupying defenders Chelsea are much easier to contain.

      Of course I may just be seeing the world from the point of view of an optimistic/foolish Hazard non-owner.

    Reading a lot of need a Southampton attacker.

    Last year Everton were avoided like the bubonic plague for Europa League involvement.

    Interesting the Play Off is on the 20th and 27th August prior to League fixtures against Watford and Norwich.

    Could have an impact especially if an away fixture is thrown in with significant travel.
