Premier League 2015/16 Fixtures Announced

The Premier League fixture list for 2015/16 was published this morning at 9am, allowing Fantasy managers an opportunity to start tentatively planning for the season ahead. Behind the scenes, we’ll be working on our fixture tickers throughout the day and aim to get these to you as soon as possible to offer a means of analysis of the opening six Gameweeks and, if you’re a member, the entire season.

Champions Chelsea open their campaign with a home encounter against Swansea before heading to the Etihad in Gameweek 2. Jose Mourinho’s men also square up to Arsenal in the opening six rounds of fixtures, and face trips to West Brom and Everton, in addition to a Stamford Bridge showdown with London neighbours Palace.

Man United take on three of last season’s top six in the first six rounds of fixtures. Louis van Gaal’s side welcome Tottenham and Liverpool to Old Trafford over that period and also pay visit to Southampton, with clashes against Villa, Newcastle and Swansea also on their agenda.

Man City hit the road three times in the first five. Manuel Pellegrini’s men roll up to West Brom, Everton and Palace, and welcome Watford, in addition to the above-mentioned home encounter with Chelsea.

Arsenal entertain West Ham, Liverpool and Stoke at the Emirates in the first six Gameweeks. Arsene Wenger’s men have a couple of London away days – at Palace and Chelsea – as well as a trip to Newcastle over that period.

Liverpool are handed four strong home clashes in the opening seven, as Bournemouth, West Ham, Norwich and Villa make their way to Anfield. Brendan Rodgers’ men have some testing times on the road, though, with visits to Stoke, Arsenal and United pencilled in over that time frame.

Leicester will be confident of continuing the form that clinched their survival last time out. Nigel Pearson’s troops face Sunderland, West Ham, Bournemouth, Villa and Stoke in the first six, with a Gameweek 3 trip to Tottenham looking the most problematic of their early matches.

West Ham begin life under new manager Slaven Bilic with an opening day trip to the Emirates. The Hammers also pay visit to Liverpool and City in the first six rounds of fixtures, though have four kind home clashes in the first seven (LEI, BOU, NEW, NOR) to bolster their appeal.

Crystal Palace are handed a tough start to the new campaign. Granted, the Eagles have Norwich and Villa in their opening three but aside from that, they go up against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Spurs in the first six Gameweeks.

Over the next few days, we plan to focus on the new schedule in detail. In addition to a couple of “Frisking the Fixtures” articles, we’ll be rolling out a series of articles looking at the best rotation pairs available at the back over the upcoming campaign.

Yeah but I've got other things going on, like I'm setting something up for a weekly article next season and I've got a couple of books I want to start reading as well.

Steve Bull was a full England International, who along with fellow over aged Wolves player Andy Mutch, formed the most feared forward partnership in the lower divisions.

Not too bad after the first.

Same for Milner really, who has tough away games, but the home games are decent.
          Bournemouth (H) second for example...

Milner/Ayew/Barkley were all in my thinking anyway for a mid-priced option. I've now been put off by Everton's fixtures, but Milner/Ayew still looking good. 🙂

"The important thing to take form the matches is that we got a wee bit unlucky with some miracle strikes, the players showed real character though, they're real technicians and understand the philosophy of this great club with such great fans and we'll kick on now and hopefully get a wee bit more points. In January we really need to add another 7-8 players of outstanding quality too, to flesh out the squad you know, because we're a wee bit thin in many areas of the squad..."

Seriously and I don't have the tinted specs on, if Liverpool put up a proper challenge for top four then I think depending on fixtures there could be some value players in there assuming their prices will drop.

At Dortmund they do respect these guys though, I recall Dortmund players speaking with full confidence when Klopp was banned, saying that it doesn't really matter as it's Zeljko who creates the tactics anyway. And I think they won that CL match comfortably.

I'd imagine that managers and club chairs who know something about their business respect these guys too, but I may be a tad too optimistic about them. The key is "know something about their business" and that may not apply to many.

Absolutely, they do. But more further afield you don't hear their names mentioned much at all, seeing as they were integral parts of the management team.

Yeah, it's a shame. Klopp basically just shouts at the players and talks about his hairpiece to the press, and then he gets all the credit for absolutely everything good these other two guys have been doing. Life isn't fair.

At least Klopp himself seems to completely reckon their value.

That's very true, no doubt Klopp respects the work they do as well. I think he's a great manager, but all great managers need a great team with them. So more recognition is deserved in that instance.

I'm not sure to be honest, I think the approach FSG want to take is basically meant to be executed so that a head coach is brought in and all other aspects of the football are handled by a man upstairs. :/

There is always that possibility, as I said before I think FSG want a LOT of control in proceedings. Just the impression I get. Though they could have had LVG as DoF a few seasons ago 😛

He is arguably one of the most hyped up managers going at the moment, nearly any club would want him. So they'd need to offer him something exceptional to get him in when bigger spending, CL playing clubs are sniffing about. I reckon he's taking a break just to see who comes knocking.

                    Agreed.

And come on, what is Liverpool's offer:

                    - European football: EL, tough to break into top 4 to get CL football.

                    - Club organisation: unclear, money grabbers behind the club.

                    - Player policy: Transfer policy seems to be guided by an obsession to pay overprice for the English players who coming from an exceptional season for mid- and low table PL clubs. Missed out on almost every international transfer they tried to get on last 3 years. Ended up spending huge transfer money on piling up young non-star players to block each other progression, instead of letting the ones they got first to develop into first team regulars. On the plus side, there is obvious potential in many of these players.

                    - Tactics and style of football: very different to the one that Klopp's been playing at Dortmund, albeit right now it is pretty tough to say what is the brand of football Liverpool plays (imo, it's a bit like poor man's City, only there's no City for a poor man unless it reads, for example, 'Leicester' before that 'City').

                    - Success: Club in crisis, which can be a good thing as it lessens the pressure for the new manager.

Money is probably not the issue, so I think there will be better offers.

Will he suit their team's tactics at all, is another question. Looking at how they played this season, he would have been a complete stranger to that team. But maybe Sherwood wants to change their ways.

I've not had a scotch egg there but I have heard that they're great, glad that they didn't disappoint. Bishop's Avenue is ridiculous, £50m+ houses owned by Sultans and Presidents, one of the wealthiest streets in the world, but loads of the houses have been left derelict:

Just saw the news on Vidal.

Sick of footballers and other high-profile celebrities getting away with drink driving. So reckless.

"Unfortunately I was involved in a traffic accident,'' Vidal wrote on his Twitter account, in Spanish. "Luckily we are all well and calm. Thanks for worrying."

You mean: "I was drink driving and didn't give a crap last night. There was a child in one of those cars passing by that I could have potentially hit? Well don't worry about it because at least I'm fine".

    Rant over.

Agreed, drink driving is never forgiveable in any circumstances, you're putting everyone around in danger.

Also, why is he getting drunk in the middle of the Copa America?

Seen just the amount of people killed by drunk drivers every year, and add to that those severely injured, it's crazy how lighthearted people are about it. Caught driving drunk should mean losing your license for next 1-10 years (depending on how drunk, where, how fast driving, what else stupid doing in traffic while drunk), and second time the license would be gone for good.

He goes to court for it anyway, right? Benzema went to court for just speeding on an empty highway and he was sober.

Where are the fortresses in the Premier League? Does playing at home really affect attacking and/or defensive returns?

    Lessons...
    • In general, teams score more goals at home, it is not a myth
    • City aren't that much weaker away, so Kun(C) is always a safe pick every gameweek.
    • Chelsea score consistently home and away
    • Don't captain a United player away from Old Trafford
    • Unusually, Palace scored more goals away from home

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Higuain's future? If a player has a contract this contract has to be respected.

“If a madman arrives and offers to pay his buy-out clause then one must consider it. Otherwise he will remain here."

Higuain's buyout clause is £72 million...

True enough, though in this case I would guess they put a massive buyout clause on him so they only have to sell them if they want to. So it really would be a madman to bid for that.

Masopust is on the bench so swap him to Frydek. Also start Prikryl and Frydek (if you do swap), in this game you can swap players that have played on the first matchday for your bench players before matchday 2, so if your matchday 1 players blank then its a straight swap to your bench players.
