Today’s action concludes with a fitting climax, as we drop in on the champions at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea go into the opening day clash with Swansea having won 15 of their 19 home league matches, without suffering defeat.

However, Garry Monk’s side turn up having claimed all three points at Old Trafford on the opening day of last season and will be looking to improve on their performances against the Blues: they shipped nine goals to them last term, suffering 5-0 and 4-2 defeats.

              That's pedantry. Under every definition Rooney forced that own goal. They don't want to have to write 'If a player touches it and a player comes behind and hit it into his own net, then the opposing player receives an assist'. Too many scenarios to create.

              Any examples when it wasn't a pass/shot and they didn't allow it?

        So Walker just felt like scoring an own goal, or did the fact that Rooney was about to score force it? Inadvertent touches count for assists, even winning a free-kick counts!

          Rooney didn't shoot or pass into him he only controlled the ball before walker shot for him. the rule clearly states it needs to be a pass or shot Rooney did neither so it should just be a og.
