Victor Moses penned his third loan deal in two years yesterday afternoon, committing to a season on the books at West Ham. The tricky winger signed a new four-year contract with parent club Chelsea this summer before making his way to Upton Park as Slaven Bilic looks to boost his options out wide.

Discussing his move with the Hammers official website, the 24-year-old is determined to make his mark in the final third:

“I am very pleased to have joined West Ham. They are a great Club and the atmosphere here is amazing with the fans. I want to add my quality to what West Ham already have and hopefully we can do even better than last season. I am very pleased to work under the new manager. There is a huge amount of talent with Alex Song and Nikica Jelavic joining the Club and I want to help the Club finish as high up in the table as possible. Andy Carroll is a great striker and has a lot of experience in the Premier League. All the forwards have got a lot of experience and I want to help them score more goals.”

THE HISTORY

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Moses moved to England as an asylum seeker in 2001. He soon joined a local side and, after being scouted by Crystal Palace, signed up at the Eagles’ youth academy in the same year.

Moses’ first team debut came at the tender age of 16 during a Championship clash with Cardiff in November 2007. By March of that season, the Nigerian had cemented a starting role in the first team, picking up three goals, as well as three assists, in nine starts and helped his side into a play-off place. He was a mainstay in the first XI over the following two years but his form suffered as Palace slumped down the table and encountered financial problems. Moses ultimately produced 11 goals and six assists in 69 appearances across all competitions for the Selhurst Park outfit.

As the Eagles plummeted into administration in January 2010 Moses completed a permanent switch to Premier League outfit Wigan Athletic. He was used as an impact substitute during the back end of that season but managed three assists from the bench as well as picking up a goal in his first start for the club. An injury riddled 2010-11 campaign resulted in a struggle for minutes but after the departure of Charles N’Zogbia in the summer of 2011 a starting berth opened up. The-then 21-year-old notched six goals and six assists, becoming one of the Premier League’s hottest talents.

Chelsea picked up on his potential and after an incredible five bids in August 2012, signed him for £8.05 million. Moses has been a fringe player since his move to Stamford Bridge and as a result has been sent out on a couple of loan spells. A season at Liverpool was disappointing as the emergence of Raheem Sterling kept him out of the side but the winger enjoyed a return to form during last term’s time at Stoke City. His three goals won seven points for the Potters and he picked up a series of four assists in consecutive matches during September and October before injury put paid to his season.

It looked as if Moses was set to compete for a space in the Chelsea first team after appearing in all four pre-season matches, scoring against PSG and coming on in search of a winner during the Community Shield. However, the forward will now spend his third consecutive season out on loan.

On the international scene, Moses fired 11 goals in 28 appearances for England at youth level before choosing to represent Nigeria’s senior side. He has since netted seven times in 24 appearances for the Super Eagles.

THE PROSPECTS

Moses’ arrival, along with the acquisition of Michail Antonio, significantly strengthens Bilic’s options on the flanks. The Hammers boss rolled out a midfield diamond in the first three Gameweeks, with Dimitri Payet stationed behind a front two, but, with the full-backs struggling to cope, switched to a 4-1-4-1 set-up away to Liverpool, with Payet and Manuel Lanzini stationed on the left and right respectively.

The Nigerian international was used exclusively on the left at the Britannia last season, though, like Antonio, is versatile enough to play on either flank. Crucially, Bilic’s new arrivals would allow Payet to move back into a central position behind a lone striker, with the Hammers possibly shifting to a 4-2-3-1 set-up as a result. This would see Pedro Obiang, Cheikhou Kouyate, Mark Noble and Alex Song (when fit) compete for the roles in the double-pivot and lessen the likelihood of further starts for young Reece Oxford.

Coming in at 5.3 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Moses is the same price as Lanzini and a little less expensive than Antonio (6.0.), with Payet the costliest at 7.6. There’s also Kouyate to consider amongst the Hammers midfield, though his prospects could well be dependant on Bilic’s chosen formation. The 5.6-priced Senegal international racked up two goals and an assist in the first three but a move to 4-2-3-1 would restrict his forward forays, given he’s likely to be stationed in the double-pivot in front of the back-four.

Nonetheless, if Moses carries his form from the 2014-15 campaign onwards and nails down a starting berth, he could soon make his way onto Fantasy managers’ radars. His minutes per attempt (36.5) and key pass (46.8) were certainly impressive, though as we’ve seen in the past, the Nigerian still needs to work on his finishing – only 29.3% of his attempts were accurate last term, with just 7.3% finding the net.

Encouragingly, Bilic’s side face a series of favourable fixtures after the international break. A visit to the Etihad is sandwiched between home fixtures with Newcastle and Norwich as well trips to Sunderland and Palace before Gameweek 10. Given that only Man City have scored most goals than West Ham (ten to nine) in the first four Gameweeks, many will be monitoring Bilic’s team sheets as we look to find a cut-price route into the Hammers’ flourishing attack.

Thoughts on Cazorla -> Ayew this week (I know I should have done this already)

    Then Payet & Alderweireld -> Shaqiri & Kolarov -4 GW 6?

Thinking Palace will score v City so will wait for Kolarov & want Shaqiri for 2 good home games; worried about Payet game time with all the new signings for West Ham...

    Would leave me with front 8;
    Ayew,Shaqiri,Mahrez,Sterling
    Aguero,Pelle,Benteke

    Opinions welcome!

And I've finished the code automation. It turns on my computer at 5am the day after last update every GW and runs the macro then shuts down, so all I have to do is upload it and do a write up (of which I have no time for atm)

with players like Sterling, Sinclair, Cedric, Pelle, Mane and Bellerin starting to get amongst the points again do the early wildcarders regret their wildcards? I'm sure they made atleast 1m in transfer value but was it worth it?

You think people had Sinclair at the start? And also your point isn't that valid since most of the big hitters are failing right now. Non-wildcarder here btw

Yes, plenty did have Sinclair at the start. He was infact a bit of a 5.0 bandwagon on here in pre-season. He was in mine until a late change to Mahrez.

Not a crazy amount, but definitely a FFS bandwagon based on pre-season form and looking fairly safe.

His ownership wasn't high, but all of his ownership was down to FFS community.

I had sinclair from the start and thats one reason I'm glad I didn't wildcard. Big hitters are failing atm so therefore the average scores are lower than normal so it wasn't an optimal time to wildcard imo apart from team value and possibly those who doubled up on gomis and Ayew

    Anyone tempted by Antonio?

I'm a Forest fan and expect us to have a very difficult season without all of his goals & assists.

For anyone who hasn't seen him play, he's very powerful, quick, shoots on sight and scores a fair few headers as well. When Britt Assombalonga got injured last season he became even more vital to the team and I could see him potentially being converted to a striker.

That's the worry, but hopefully the largish transfer fee might put pressure on the manager to give him games and he scores some goals to keep him in the team. I'd throw him upfront as well, especially if Sakho's problems get any worse.

In Pato's defense one should add that he was more or less destryed by a desperate team that kept urging him to play when it was clear to any sober person he shouldn't. First season in Milan he grew almost a decimeter and put on almost 20 pounds.
But such is the world of soccer.....
Doing ok now and would still be a decent player in top half teams in leagues in europe.

I firmly believe that Arsenal have the team to win the title. Look at the way they finished last season. If they could do that from the start and not fall 15 points behind by February then they'd have every chance. I do think City will run away with it this season, but Arsenal might finish 2nd.

It's all well and good everybody saying that Arsenal have to sign a striker, but who is there available that's significantly better than Giroud? Yes, they'd benefit from a Suarez or an Aguero, but there just aren't any available.

Thoughts on Ozil peops? I have convinced myself over the last 2 seasons that he will come good FPL-wise, and he started to look good towards the end of last season. Are his points dictated by the whole teams form in general, or is he doomed to be the assister of the assister?

All the Arsenal midfielders are a bit of a gamble. They share out attacking returns, they all seem injury prone, even Sanchez was only really good last season whilst Ramsey, Ozil and Walcott were injured. Cazorla is probably the best bet over the course of the entire season as he's less injury prone and has a good share of set pieces

I have done the same this year and he has brought me one 7 pointer. Im afraid he will have another underwhelming year in terms of fpl yet again. As I type this I currently look for replacements, Chadli or Shaqiri maybe

Ayew has had the most amount of shots in the box only behind sanchez in terms of mids. He's looked dangerous every game I've seen him play and was unlucky not to score against sunderland too, the only game he's blanked. Avoid chelsea until they hit form. Pedro might yet be the best chelsea player to own.

Yeah, I'm too skeptical towards Ranieri. He did say the other day though that he was not for sale at any price. This is obvious manager speak, but it would suggest to me that he sees him as the "star" of the team.

The premium options are often the best captaincy options but neither of them have form with them ATM.

Although, Sanchez has a nice fixture and did great last year at home to Stoke; it is still a risk IMO.

Mahrez has been on top form and if he is deemed fit, I think he is the best option. I see what you mean by only considering Sanchez and Aguero though...

Mahrez has been in great form, but you can never trust the mid to bottom teams to deliver every week, where the top teams should be a lot more realible.

I considering losing sanchez this week but then checked his stats. No way he's going to go much longer without a goal. Stoke are usually poor away from home. Saying that palace are worse at home than they are away, so aguero looks very tempting too. Especially the form that city are in.

Cech vs DDG make your mind up I guess. I think DDG but others will say Cech I'm sure.

Bellerin vs Darmian can't say yet

Smalling/Blind/Jones/Rojo vs Kosc/Merte/Gabriel/Chambers Arsenal win no doubt

Shaw vs Monreal/Gibbs Again, opinions will be split. I'll say Shaw.

Schneiderlin vs Coq I reckon Morgan is better

Herrera/Schwein/Carrick vs Caz/Rambo/Arteta Arsenal better by virtue of Cazorla being the best of them

On the wings Arsenal win, CAM I reckon Arsenal and striker position Arsenal all until Martial shows us what he is capable of.

He's come back from rough times before so I hope he will now, especially as it looks like Real strung him along. Aye, it comes down to whether United can start utilising what they have to better effect to try and compete and they aren't at all. Just fortunate that Arsenal are also all over the place, I think midfield is too liquid, not enough structure.

Because it's stupidly attacking and open. Advocaat would be extremely unlikely to play a team like that in the entire season. Take one of the front four in your lineup out and switch to a Cattermole/Rodwell.

You stressed you can't see Sunderland keeping a CS all season, then ten minutes later posted a lineup that's far more attacking than any lineup Sunderland have used so far this season. 😛

The only thing that will change in that line up in cattermole playing over larrson. The front 4 will be first choice, I guarantee it. Obviously johnson will come in and mix things up once he's fit.

Think the plan was always to have m'villa and cattermole marshalling to allow likes of lens, etc, to push on, however cattermole has been really poor so far and I think might benefit from a game or two out of the team.

Rodwell is just the invisible man when he plays so hoping he'll be bench warming most of season.

I know, but I think the plan will be to push big toinvonen up to support him and borini can do that job too. Annoyed we could have got rid of some dead wood, which would have allowed us to bring in a target man.

Good reason for AOA next gameweek?

    Myhill

    Kolarov | Darmian

    Sanchez | Pedro | Ayew | Mahrez | Chadli

    Aguero | Gomis | Wilson

    (Butland - Francis - Muniesa - Gomez)

    1) All attackers have good fixtures and could potentially get points, hard to pick who to bench.
    2) No FT's and £0.5m ITB means I can't make any more transfers this week to change anything.
    3) Francis has Norwich away so he isn't likely to keep a clean sheet although he has attacking threat.
    4) Stats have proven that the gameweek after the international break consists of less clean sheets. Due to the team not being used to each other after being with their respected home countries.
    5) Transfers have taken place which could have an affect on the way the team plays.
    6) AOA is a 'useless' chip so we don't really need to save it like Bench Boost and Triple Captain.

AOA doesn't really have any use in DGW's surely?

2nd WC, Bench Boost and Triple C are priorities around the DGW's.
